12 If you will hear tell concerning one of your cities, which Jehovah your God gives you to dwell there, saying,
13 Certain worthless fellows have gone out from the midst of you and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which you* have not known,
14 then you will inquire and make search and ask diligently. And behold, if it is true and the thing certain, that such abomination is worked in the midst of you,
15 you will surely kill* the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly and all that is in it and the cattle in it, with the edge of the sword.
16 And you will gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street of it and will burn the city with fire and all the spoil of it, every whit, to Jehovah your God and it will be a heap everlasting. It will not be built again.
17 And nothing of the devoted thing will cling to your hand, that Jehovah may turn from the fierceness of his anger and show you mercy and have compassion upon you and multiply you, as he has sworn to your fathers, 18 when you will listen to the voice of Jehovah your God, to keep all his commandments which I command you this day, to do what is right in the eyes of Jehovah your God.
