MLV(i)
coming to whom is a living stone, having indeed been rejected by men, but chosen and precious with God.
You, yourselves, like living stones, are also built up as a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Because it is contained in the Scripture, ‘Behold, I place in Zion, a cornerstone, chosen and precious, and the one who believes on him may never be ashamed.’
Therefore, to those who believe is the honor, but to the disobedient, ‘ The stone which the builders rejected, this became to them the head of the corner';
and, ‘A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense'; those who are stumbling in the word, being disobedient, toward which they were also appointed.
