Psalms 136:1-150:6

MKJV(i) 1 Oh give thanks to Jehovah; for He is good; for His mercy endures forever. 2 Oh give thanks to the God of gods; for His mercy endures forever. 3 Oh give thanks to the Lord of lords; for His mercy endures forever. 4 To Him who alone does great wonders; for His mercy endures forever. 5 To Him who by wisdom made the heavens; for His mercy endures forever. 6 To Him who stretched out the earth above the waters; for His mercy endures forever. 7 To Him who made great lights; for His mercy endures forever. 8 The sun to rule by day; for His mercy endures forever. 9 the moon and stars to rule by night; for His mercy endures forever. 10 To Him who struck Egypt in their first-born; for His mercy endures forever; 11 and brought Israel out from among them, for His mercy endures forever; 12 with a strong hand, and a stretched out arm; for His mercy endures forever; 13 to Him who divided the Red Sea into parts; for His mercy endures forever; 14 and made Israel to pass through the middle of it; for His mercy endures forever; 15 but threw Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea; for His mercy endures forever. 16 To Him who led His people through the wilderness; for His mercy endures forever. 17 To Him who struck great kings; for His mercy endures forever; 18 and killed famous kings; for His mercy endures forever: 19 Sihon king of the Amorites; for His mercy endures forever; 20 and Og the king of Bashan; for His mercy endures forever; 21 and gave their land for an inheritance; for His mercy endures forever; 22 an inheritance to Israel His servant; for His mercy endures forever. 23 Who remembered us in our low estate; for His mercy endures forever; 24 and has redeemed us from our enemies; for His mercy endures forever. 25 Who gives food to all flesh; for His mercy endures forever. 26 Oh give thanks to the God of Heaven; for His mercy endures forever. 137 1 There we sat down by the rivers of Babylon; also, we wept when we remembered Zion. 2 We hung our lyres on the willows in its midst. 3 For there our captors demanded a song from us; and our plunderers demanded gladness, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. 4 How shall we sing Jehovah's song in a foreign land? 5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget. 6 If I do not remember you, let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth; if I do not prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy. 7 Remember, O Jehovah, the sons of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Make it bare! Make it bare, even to the foundation of it! 8 O daughter of Babylon, O destroyed one! Blessed is he who will repay to you your reward which you rewarded to us. 9 Blessed is he who seizes and dashes your little ones against the stones. 138 1 A Psalm of David. I will praise You with my whole heart; before the gods I will sing praise to You. 2 I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your loving-kindness and for Your truth's sake; for You have magnified Your Word above all Your name. 3 In the day when I cried You answered me and made me bold with strength in my soul. 4 All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O Jehovah, when they hear the Words of Your mouth. 5 Yea, they shall sing in the ways of Jehovah; for great is the glory of Jehovah. 6 Though Jehovah is high, yet He has respect to the lowly; but the proud He knows afar off. 7 If I walk in the midst of trouble, You will give me life; You shall stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand shall save me. 8 Jehovah will perfect His work in me; Your mercy, O Jehovah, endures forever; do not forsake the work of Your own hands. 139 1 To the Chief Musician, A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, You have searched me and have known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. 3 You search my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Jehovah, You know it altogether. 5 You have closed me in behind and in front, and laid Your hand on me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot go up to it. 7 Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? 8 If I go up into Heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the furthest parts of the sea; 10 even there shall Your hand lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me, even the night shall be light around me. 12 Yea, the darkness does not hide from You; but the night shines as the day; as is the darkness, so is the light to You. 13 For You have possessed my inward parts; You have covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will praise You; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are marvelous and my soul knows it very well. 15 My bones were not hidden from You when I was made in secret and skillfully formed in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my embryo; and in Your book all my members were written, the days they were formed, and not one was among them. 17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they are more than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You. 19 Surely You will slay the wicked, O God; and bloody men, depart from me. 20 Who will speak against You maliciously? Your enemies are lifted up with vanity. 21 O Jehovah, do I not hate those who hate You? And am I not grieved with those who rise up against You? 22 I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them my enemies. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts, 24 and see if any wicked way is in me; and lead me in the way everlasting. 140 1 To the Chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O Jehovah, from the evil man; keep me from the violent man, 2 who devised evil things in the heart; they are always gathered for war. 3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah. 4 O Jehovah, keep me from the hands of the wicked; keep me from the violent man who purposed to trip up my steps. 5 The proud have hidden cords and a trap for me; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set snares for me. Selah. 6 I said to Jehovah, You are my God; O Jehovah, hear the voice of my prayers. 7 O Lord Jehovah, the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle. 8 O Jehovah, do not grant the desires of the wicked; do not help his wicked plans, lest they praise themselves. Selah. 9 As for the head of those around me, let the evil of their own lips cover them. 10 Let burning coals fall on them; let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, so that they do not rise up again. 11 Do not let an evil speaker be established in the earth; evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him. 12 I know that Jehovah will maintain the cause of the afflicted and the right of the poor. 13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in Your presence. 141 1 A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, I cry to You; make haste to me, give ear to my voice when I cry to You. 2 Let my prayer be set forth before You as incense, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. 3 Set a watch, O Jehovah, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. 4 Let not my heart turn aside to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men who work iniquity; and let me not eat of their delicacies. 5 Let the righteous strike me; it shall be a kindness; and let him correct me, it is oil on my head, let not my head refuse it; for still my prayer also shall be against their wickedness. 6 When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet. 7 Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when one cuts and splits wood on the earth. 8 But my eyes are on You, O Lord Jehovah; in You I take refuge, do not leave my soul naked. 9 Keep me from the traps which they have laid for me, and the snares of the workers of evil. 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets together, while I escape. 142 1 An Instruction of David; A Prayer when he was in the cave. I cried to Jehovah with my voice; with my voice I prayed to Jehovah. 2 I poured out my prayer before Him; I declared my trouble before Him. 3 When my spirit fainted within me, then You knew my path. In the way in which I walked they have secretly laid a snare for me. 4 I looked on my right hand, and I watched, but no one recognized me; escape was lost to me; no man cared for my soul. 5 I cried to You, O Jehovah; I said, You are my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. 6 Hear my cry; for I am brought very low; deliver me from my pursuers; for they are stronger than I. 7 Bring my soul out of prison that I may praise Your name; the righteous shall gather around me; for You shall reward me. 143 1 A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer O Jehovah; give ear to my supplications; in Your faithfulness and in Your righteousness answer me. 2 And do not enter into judgment with Your servant, for in Your sight no one living is just. 3 For the enemy has pursued my soul; he has beaten my life down to the ground; he has made me dwell in darkness, as those long dead. 4 And my spirit has fainted within me; my heart has become weary within me. 5 I remember the days of old; I think on all Your works; I muse on the work of Your hands. 6 I stretch forth my hands to You; my soul thirsts after You like a thirsty land. Selah. 7 Hear me quickly, O Jehovah; my spirit fails; do not hide Your face from me, lest I be like those who go down into the Pit. 8 Cause me to hear Your loving-kindness in the morning, for I do trust in You; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You. 9 Deliver me, O Jehovah, from my enemies; I flee to You to hide me. 10 Teach me to do Your will; for You are my God; Your Spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. 11 O Jehovah, for Your name's sake enliven me; for Your righteousness' sake, bring my soul out of trouble. 12 And out of Your mercy cut off my enemies, and destroy all those who afflict my soul; for I am Your servant. 144 1 A Psalm of David. Blessed is Jehovah my Rock, who teaches My hands for war, my fingers for battle. 2 He is my goodness and my fortress; my high tower and my deliverer; my shield and He in whom I trust; who humbles my people under me. 3 O Jehovah, what is man that You take knowledge of him! Or the son of man, that You esteem him? 4 Man is like vanity; his days are like a shadow that passes away. 5 Bow down Your heavens, O Jehovah, and come down; touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. 6 Cast forth lightning and scatter them; shoot out Your arrows and destroy them. 7 Send Your hand from above; rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of a foreigner's sons; 8 because their mouth has spoken vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of lies. 9 I will sing a new song to You, O God; on a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You. 10 It is You who gives salvation to kings; who delivers David His servant from the hurtful sword. 11 Rescue me, and deliver me from the hand of foreigners' sons, because their mouth has spoken vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood; 12 so that our sons may be like plants grown up in their youth; and our daughters may be like corner-stones, polished like a palace building; 13 and our storehouses may be full, furnishing kind to kind; and our flocks may breed thousands and ten thousands outside; 14 and our oxen may be loaded; there is no breaking in nor going out and no crying in our streets. 15 Blessed are the peoples who are so; blessed are the peoples to whom Jehovah is their God. 145 1 Praise, of David. I will lift You up, my God, O King; and I will bless Your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will bless You; and I will praise Your name forever and ever. 3 Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised; and there is no searching out His greatness. 4 One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts. 5 I will speak of the glorious honor of Your majesty, and of Your wonderful works. 6 And men shall speak of the might of Your awesome works; and I will declare Your greatness. 7 They shall pour forth the memory of Your great goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousness. 8 Jehovah is gracious and full of pity; slow to anger, and of great mercy. 9 Jehovah is good to all; and His tender mercies are over all His works. 10 All Your works shall praise You, O Jehovah; and Your saints shall bless You. 11 They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power, 12 to make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of His kingdom. 13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your rule endures throughout all generations. 14 Jehovah upholds all who fall, and raises up all those bowed down. 15 The eyes of all wait on You; and You give them their food in due season. 16 You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. 17 Jehovah is righteous in all His ways and holy in all His works. 18 Jehovah is near all those who call on Him, all those who call on Him in truth. 19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry, and will save them. 20 Jehovah watches over all those who love Him; but all the wicked He will destroy. 21 My mouth shall speak the praise of Jehovah; and let all flesh bless His holy name forever and ever. 146 1 Praise Jehovah. Praise Jehovah, O my soul. 2 While I live I will praise Jehovah; I will sing praises to my God while I have any being. 3 Do not put your trust in princes, nor in the son of man in whom there is no salvation. 4 His breath goes forth; he returns to the earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. 5 Blessed is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose help is in Jehovah his God, 6 who made the heavens and earth, the sea and all that is in it; who keeps truth forever; 7 who carries out judgment for the mistreated; who gives food to the hungry. Jehovah lets the prisoners loose; 8 the Lord opens the eyes of the blind; Jehovah raises those who are bowed down; Jehovah loves the righteous; 9 Jehovah preserves the strangers; He relieves the orphan and widow, but the way of the wicked He turns upside down. 10 Jehovah shall reign forever, even your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise Jehovah! 147 1 Praise Jehovah; for it is good to sing praises to our God; for praise is delightful and becoming. 2 Jehovah builds up Jerusalem; He gathers together the outcasts of Israel. 3 He heals the broken-hearted, and binds up their wounds. 4 He appoints the number of the stars; He calls them all by their names. 5 Great is our LORD, and of great power; There is no limit to His understanding. 6 Jehovah lifts up the meek; He throws the wicked down to the ground. 7 Sing to Jehovah with thanksgiving; sing praise on the harp to our God, 8 who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the mountains. 9 He gives the beasts their food, and to the young ravens which cry. 10 He delights not in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man. 11 Jehovah takes pleasure in those who fear Him, who hope in His mercy. 12 Praise Jehovah, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion. 13 For He has made the bars of your gates strong; He has blessed your sons within you. 14 He makes peace in your borders and fills you with the finest of the wheat. 15 He sends forth His Commandment on earth; His Word runs very swiftly. 16 He gives snow like wool; He scatters the hoarfrost like ashes. 17 He casts forth His ice like crumbs; who can stand before His cold? 18 He sends out His Word and melts them; He causes His wind to blow, and the waters flow. 19 He shows His Word to Jacob, His Precepts and His judgments to Israel. 20 He has not done so with any nation; and they have not known His judgments. Praise Jehovah! 148 1 Praise Jehovah! Praise Jehovah from the heavens; praise Him in the heights. 2 Praise Him, all His angels; praise Him, all His hosts. 3 Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all stars of light. 4 Praise Him, heavens of heavens, and waters that are above the heavens. 5 Let them praise the name of Jehovah; for He commanded, and they were created. 6 He has also settled them forever and ever; He has made a decree which shall not pass away. 7 Let praise be to Jehovah from the earth, the sea-monsters, and all deeps; 8 fire and hail, snow and vapor, stormy wind fulfilling His Word, 9 mountains and all hills, fruitful trees and all cedars, 10 beasts and all cattle, creeping things and birds of the wing, 11 kings of the earth and all people, princes and all judges of the earth, 12 both young men and maidens, old men and children; 13 let them praise the name of Jehovah; for His name alone is excellent; His glory is above the earth and heavens. 14 He also lifts up the horn of His people, the praise of all His saints, even of the sons of Israel, a people near to Him. Praise Jehovah! 149 1 Praise Jehovah! Sing to Jehovah a new song, His praise in the congregation of saints. 2 Let Israel rejoice in his Maker; let the sons of Zion be joyful in their King. 3 Let them praise His name in the dance; let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. 4 For Jehovah takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the meek with salvation. 5 Let the saints be joyful in glory; let them sing aloud on their beds. 6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand, 7 to carry out vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples, 8 to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with iron-bands, 9 to carry out on them the judgment written; this is an honor for all His saints. Praise Jehovah! 150 1 Praise Jehovah. Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in the expanse of His power. 2 Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His excellent greatness. 3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; praise Him with the harp and lyre. 4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and pipes. 5 Praise Him on the sounding cymbals; praise Him with the resounding cymbals. 6 Let everything that breathes praise Jehovah. Praise Jehovah!
