Psalms 100:1-150:6

MKJV(i) 1 A Psalm of praise. Make a joyful noise to Jehovah, all you lands. 2 Worship Jehovah with gladness; come before His presence with singing. 3 Know that Jehovah, He is God. He has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise; be thankful to Him, and bless His name. 5 For Jehovah is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endures to all generations. 101 1 A Psalm of David. I will sing of mercy and judgment; to You, O Jehovah, I will sing praise. 2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when will You come to me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. 3 I will set no wicked thing before my eyes. I have hated the work of those who turn aside; it shall not hold on to me. 4 A perverse heart will depart from me; I will not know the wicked. 5 Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, I will cut him off; him who has a high look and a proud heart, I will not allow. 6 My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land, so that they may dwell with me; he who walks in a perfect way, he shall serve Me. 7 He who works falsely shall not dwell within my house; he who tells lies shall not stay in my sight. 8 I will early destroy all the wicked of the land, so that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of Jehovah. 102 1 A prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed and pours out his complaint before Jehovah. Hear my prayer, O Jehovah, and let my cry come to You. 2 Hide not Your face from me in the day when I am in trouble; bow down Your ear to me; in the day I call, answer me quickly. 3 For my days go up like smoke, and my bones glow like a firebrand. 4 My heart is stricken, and dried like grass, so that I forget to eat my bread. 5 Because of the voice of my groaning, my bones hold fast to my skin. 6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness; I am like an owl of the desert. 7 I watch, and am as a sparrow alone on the house top. 8 My enemies curse me all the day; and they who are mad against me are sworn against me. 9 For I have eaten ashes like bread, and have mixed my drink with weeping, 10 because of Your anger and Your wrath; for You have lifted me up and cast me down. 11 My days are like a shadow stretched out; and I wither like grass. 12 But You, O Jehovah, shall endure forever; and Your memory to all generations. 13 You shall arise, and have mercy on Zion; for the time to pity her, yea, the set time, has come. 14 For Your servants take pleasure in its stones, and pity its dust. 15 So the nations shall fear the name of Jehovah, and all the kings of the earth Your glory. 16 When Jehovah shall build up Zion, He shall appear in His glory. 17 He will turn to the prayer of the forsaken and not despise their prayer. 18 This shall be written for the generation to come; and the people who shall be created shall praise Jehovah. 19 For He has looked down from the height of His sanctuary; from Heaven Jehovah beheld the earth; 20 to hear the groaning of the prisoner, to set free the sons of death; 21 to declare the name of Jehovah in Zion, and His praise in Jerusalem; 22 when the peoples and the kingdoms have gathered together to serve Jehovah. 23 He weakened my strength in the way; He shortened my days. 24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days; Your years are through the generation of generations. 25 Of old You have laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the work of Your hands. 26 They shall perish, but You shall endure; yea, all of them shall become old like a garment; like a robe You shall change them, and they shall be changed; 27 but You are He, and Your years shall have no end. 28 The sons of Your servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before You. 103 1 A Psalm of David. Bless Jehovah, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name. 2 Bless Jehovah, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits; 3 who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases; 4 who redeems your life from ruin; who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies; 5 who satisfies your mouth with good; your youth is renewed like the eagle's. 6 Jehovah works righteousness and judgment for all who are pressed down. 7 He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the sons of Israel. 8 Jehovah is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and rich in mercy. 9 He will not always chasten, nor will He keep His anger forever. 10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, so is His mercy toward those who fear Him. 12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. 13 As a father pities his children, Jehovah pities those who fear Him. 14 For He knows our form; He remembers that we are dust. 15 As for man, his days are as grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. 16 For the wind passes over it, and it is gone; and its place shall know it no more. 17 But the mercy of Jehovah is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness is to sons of sons; 18 to those who keep His covenant, and to those who remember to do His Commandments. 19 Jehovah has prepared His throne in the heavens; and His kingdom rules over all. 20 Bless Jehovah, O angels of His, who excel in strength, who do His command, listening to the voice of His Word. 21 Bless Jehovah, all His hosts, ministers of His who do His pleasure. 22 Bless Jehovah, all His works in all places of His rule; bless Jehovah, O my soul. 104 1 Bless Jehovah, O my soul. O Jehovah my God, You are very great; You have put on honor and majesty, 2 covering Yourself with light as with a robe; and stretching out the heavens like a curtain; 3 He lays the beams of His upper rooms in the waters. He sets the clouds as His chariots; He walks on the wings of the wind; 4 He makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flaming fire. 5 He laid the earth on its foundations; it shall not be shaken forever. 6 You covered the deep as with a robe; the waters stand above the mountains. 7 At Your rebuke they flee; at the voice of Your thunder they hurry away. 8 They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys to the place which You have founded for them. 9 You have set a bound that they may not pass over, so that they do not turn again to cover the earth. 10 He sends the springs into the valleys; they flow between the hills. 11 They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild asses break their thirst. 12 By them the birds of the heavens will have their place of rest; they sing among the branches. 13 He waters the hills from His upper rooms; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of Your works. 14 He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and plants for the service of man, to bring forth food out of the earth, 15 and wine cheers the heart of man, and oil makes his face shine, and bread sustains the heart of man. 16 The trees of Jehovah are full, the cedars of Lebanon which He has planted; 17 where the birds make their nests; the fir trees are the house of the stork. 18 The high hills are for the wild goats, and the rocks are a refuge for the badgers. 19 He appointed the moon for seasons; the sun knows its going down. 20 You make darkness, and it is night, in which all the beasts of the forest creep forth. 21 The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God. 22 The sun rises; they are gathered, and go to their dens to lie down. 23 Man goes out to his work and to his labor until the evening. 24 O Jehovah, how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your riches. 25 This is the great and wide sea, in which are creeping things without number, both small and great animals. 26 There the ships go; You made this great sea animal to play in it. 27 These all wait on You, that You may give them their food in due season. 28 You give to them, they gather; You open Your hand; they are filled with good. 29 You hide Your face, they are troubled; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. 30 You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth. 31 The glory of Jehovah shall endure forever; Jehovah shall rejoice in His works. 32 He looks on the earth, and it trembles; He touches the hills, and they smoke. 33 I will sing to Jehovah as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. 34 My thoughts of Him shall be sweet; I will be glad in Jehovah. 35 Let the sinners perish from the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Praise Jehovah! 105 1 O give thanks to Jehovah; call on His name; make known His deeds among the people. 2 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; talk of all His wonderful works. 3 Glory in His holy name; let the heart of those who seek Jehovah rejoice. 4 Seek Jehovah and His strength; seek His face evermore. 5 Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth, 6 seed of His servant Abraham, sons of Jacob His chosen. 7 He is Jehovah our God; His judgments are in all the earth. 8 He has remembered His covenant forever, the Word which He commanded to a thousand generations; 9 the covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac; 10 and He confirmed it to Jacob for a Law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant, 11 saying, To you I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance; 12 when they were a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it. 13 When they went from one nation to another, from a kingdom to another people, 14 He allowed no man to do them wrong; yea, He reproved kings for their sakes, 15 saying, Touch not my anointed, and do My prophets no harm. 16 And He called for a famine on the land; He broke the whole staff of bread. 17 He sent a man before them, Joseph, being sold for a servant; 18 whose feet they hurt with chains; he was laid in iron, 19 until the time that his word came, the Word of Jehovah refined him. 20 The king sent and set him free; the ruler of the people, and let him go free. 21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all he owned, 22 to chain his leaders at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom. 23 Israel also came into Egypt, and Jacob resided in the land of Ham. 24 And He increased His people greatly and made them stronger than their enemies. 25 He turned their heart to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants. 26 He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron whom He had chosen. 27 They showed His signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham. 28 He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they did not rebel against His Word. 29 He turned their waters into blood, and killed their fish. 30 Their land swarmed with frogs in the rooms of their kings. 31 He spoke, and there came fly swarms and gnats in all their borders. 32 He gave them hail for rain and flaming fire in their land. 33 He struck their vines also and their fig trees, and broke the trees of their borders. 34 He spoke, and locusts came, and larvae without number; 35 and they ate up all the plants in their land, and ate the fruit of their ground. 36 He also struck all the first-born in their land, the chief of all their strength. 37 He also brought them out with silver and gold; and there was not one feeble person among their tribes. 38 Egypt was glad when they departed; for the fear of them had fallen on them. 39 He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light in the night. 40 They asked, and He brought quail, and satisfied them with the food of heaven. 41 He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river. 42 For He remembered His holy promise and Abraham His servant. 43 And He brought forth His people with joy, and His chosen with gladness, 44 and gave them the lands of the nations; and they inherited the labor of the people, 45 so that they might take heed to His Precepts and keep His Laws. Praise Jehovah! 106 1 Praise Jehovah. O give thanks to Jehovah; for He is good; for His mercy endures forever. 2 Who can utter the mighty acts of Jehovah, or cause all His praise to be heard? 3 Blessed are those who keep judgment, he who does righteousness at all times. 4 Remember me, O Jehovah, with the favor of Your people; O visit me with Your salvation, 5 that I may see the good of Your chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation, to glory with Your inheritance. 6 We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly. 7 Our fathers did not understand Your wonders in Egypt; they did not remember the multitude of Your mercies, but rebelled at the sea, even at the Red Sea. 8 But He saved them for His name's sake, to make His mighty power known. 9 And He rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up; so He led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. 10 And He saved them from the hand of the hater, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. 11 And the waters covered their enemies; there was not one of them left. 12 Then they believed His Words; they sang His praise. 13 They hurried and forgot His works; they did not wait for His counsel; 14 but they lusted greedily in the wilderness, and tested God in the desert. 15 And He gave them what they asked, but sent leanness into their soul. 16 And they were jealous of Moses in the camp, and Aaron the saint of Jehovah. 17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. 18 And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked. 19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshiped the melted image. 20 And they changed their Glory into the likeness of an ox that eats grass. 21 They forgot God their Deliverer, who had done great things in Egypt; 22 wonderful works in the land of Ham, fearful things by the Red Sea. 23 And He said that He would destroy them, if Moses His chosen had not stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath, so that He should not destroy them. 24 And they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe His Word, 25 but murmured in their tents, and did not listen to the voice of Jehovah. 26 And He lifted up His hand to them, to overthrow them in the wilderness; 27 to overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands. 28 And they joined themselves to Baal-peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead, 29 and provoked Him to anger with their doings; and the plague broke in on them. 30 Then Phinehas stood and interceded, and the plague was stayed. 31 And it was counted to him for righteousness to all generations forevermore. 32 And they angered Him at the waters of strife so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes; 33 because they provoked his spirit so that he spoke rashly with his lips. 34 They did not destroy the nations as Jehovah commanded them; 35 but were mixed among the nations, and learned their works. 36 And they served their idols, which were a snare to them. 37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons, 38 and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was defiled with blood. 39 And they were defiled with their works, and went lusting in their doings. 40 And the wrath of Jehovah was kindled against His people, and He detested His inheritance. 41 And He gave them into the hand of the nations; and those who hated them ruled over them. 42 And their enemies oppressed them, and they were humbled under their hand. 43 Many times He delivered them, but they rebelled in their counsel and sank in their iniquities. 44 And He looked on their affliction when He heard their cry; 45 and He remembered His covenant for them, and was moved to pity, according to the multitude of His mercies. 46 And He gave them to tender mercies before the face of all their captors. 47 Save us, O Jehovah our God, and gather us from among the nations, to give thanks to Your holy name and to triumph in Your praise. 48 Blessed is Jehovah, the God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting; and let all the people say, Amen. Praise Jehovah! 107 1 O give thanks to Jehovah, for He is good; for His mercy endures forever. 2 Let the redeemed of Jehovah say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, 3 and gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. 4 They wandered in the wilderness, in a desert by the way; they found no city to dwell in. 5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. 6 Then they cried to Jehovah in their distress, and He delivered them out of their troubles. 7 And He guided them by the right way, so as to go to a city to live in. 8 Oh that men would praise Jehovah for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the sons of man! 9 For He satisfies the thirsty soul, and fills the hungry soul with good. 10 Those who sit in the darkness and in the shadow of death, being chained in affliction and iron; 11 because they rebelled against the Words of God, and despised the advice of the Most High. 12 and He humbled their heart with labor; they fell down, and none was helping. 13 Then they cried to Jehovah in their distress, and He saved them out of their troubles. 14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bands in two. 15 Let them praise Jehovah for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the sons of man! 16 For He has broken the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron in two. 17 Fools are afflicted because of their rebellion, and because of their iniquities. 18 Their soul hates all kinds of food; and they draw near the gates of death. 19 Then they cry to Jehovah in their distress, and He saves them out of their troubles. 20 He sent His Word and heals them, and delivers them from their pitfalls. 21 Let them praise Jehovah for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the sons of man! 22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing! 23 They who go down to the sea in ships, who do business in great waters; 24 these see the works of Jehovah and His wonders in the deep. 25 For He commands and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves. 26 They mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble. 27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and all their wisdom is swallowed up. 28 And they cry to Jehovah in their trouble, and He brings them out of their troubles. 29 He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. 30 And they are glad because they are quiet; so He brings them to their desired haven. 31 Let them praise Jehovah for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the sons of man! 32 And let them exalt Him in the congregation of the people, and praise Him in the gathering of the elders. 33 He sets rivers to a wilderness and water-springs to thirsty ground; 34 a fruitful land to a salty desert, because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it. 35 He turns the wilderness into water-ponds, and dry ground into water-springs. 36 And He makes the hungry dwell there, so that they may prepare a city to live in; 37 and sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase. 38 He also blesses them, so that they are multiplied greatly; and does not allow their cattle to become few. 39 Again, they have become few, and humbled through harshness, affliction, and sorrow. 40 He pours scorn on nobles, and causes them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no path. 41 But He raises up the poor from affliction and sets families like a flock. 42 The upright shall see and rejoice; and all iniquity shall stop its mouth. 43 Whoever is wise, and will observe these things, they shall understand the mercies of Jehovah. 108 1 A Song, A Psalm of David. O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and I will give praise, even with my glory. 2 Awake, harp and lyre; I will awake early. 3 I will praise You, O Jehovah, among the peoples; and I will sing praises to You among the nations. 4 For Your mercy is great above the heavens; and Your truth reaches to the clouds. 5 Be lifted up, O God, above the heavens; and Your glory above all the earth; 6 so that Your beloved may be delivered; save with Your right hand, and answer me. 7 God has spoken in His holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and I will measure out the valley of Succoth. 8 Gilead is Mine; Manasseh is Mine and Ephraim is the strength of My head; Judah is My lawgiver; 9 Moab is My washpot; I will cast out My shoe over Edom; I will triumph over Philistia. 10 Who will bring me into the strong city? Who will lead me into Edom? 11 O God, have You not cast us off? And, O God, will You not go out with our armies? 12 Give us help from trouble; for vain is the deliverance of man. 13 Through God we shall do mighty things; for He shall trample our enemies. 109 1 To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. O God of my praise, do not be silent; 2 for the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me; they spoke against me with a lying tongue. 3 And they surrounded me with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause. 4 For my love they are my foes; but I am in prayer. 5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love. 6 Set a wicked man over him; and let an adversary stand at his right hand, 7 when he is judged, let him be condemned; and let his prayer become sin. 8 Let his days be few; let another take his office. 9 Let his sons be fatherless, and his wife a widow. 10 Let his sons always beg and be vagabonds, and seek food out of their ruins. 11 Let the money-lender lay a snare for all that is his; and let strangers take the fruit of his labor. 12 Let there be none to give mercy to him; nor any to favor his fatherless children. 13 Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. 14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered to Jehovah; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. 15 Let them be always before Jehovah, that He may cut off their memory from the earth, 16 because he did not remember to do mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, and sought to kill the broken-hearted. 17 Yea, he loved cursing, so let it come to him; he delighted not in blessing, and it was far from him. 18 As he clothed himself with cursing, as with his robe, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones. 19 Let it be to him as the robe which covers him, and for a girdle with which he is always clothed. 20 This is the reward of my foes from Jehovah, and of them who speak evil against my soul. 21 But You, Lord Jehovah, deal kindly with me for Your name's sake; because Your mercy is good, deliver me. 22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. 23 As a shadow when it is stretched out, I am gone; I am shaken off like the locust. 24 My knees stumble from fasting; and my flesh is losing its fatness. 25 And I became a shame to them; they looked on me; they shook their heads. 26 Help me, O Jehovah my God; save me according to Your mercy; 27 and they will know that this is Your hand; that You, Jehovah, have done it. 28 They will curse, but You will bless; they arise, and are ashamed; but let Your servant rejoice. 29 Let my foes be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own shame, as with a cloak. 30 I will greatly praise Jehovah with my mouth; yea, I will praise Him among the multitude. 31 For He shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those who condemn his soul. 110 1 A Psalm of David. Jehovah said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand until I place Your enemies as Your footstool. 2 Jehovah shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion; rule in the midst of Your enemies. 3 Your people shall be willing in the day of Your power, in holy adornment from the womb of the morning: You have the dew of Your youth. 4 Jehovah has sworn, and will not repent, You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. 5 The Lord at Your right hand shall strike through kings in the day of His wrath. 6 He shall judge among the nations, He shall fill them with dead bodies; He shall shatter heads over much of the earth. 7 He shall drink of the brook in the way; therefore He shall lift up the head. 111 1 Praise Jehovah! I will praise Jehovah with all my heart, in the council of the upright, and of the congregation. 2 The works of Jehovah are great, sought out by all those who have pleasure in them. 3 His work is honorable and glorious; and His righteousness is standing forever. 4 He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; Jehovah is gracious and full of pity. 5 He has given food to those who fear Him; He will always be mindful of His covenant. 6 He has shown His people the power of His works, to give to them the inheritance of the nations. 7 The works of His hands are truth and judgment; all His commands are true, 8 standing fast forever and ever; they are done in truth and uprightness. 9 He sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever; holy and awesome is His name. 10 The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; all practicing them have good understanding; His praise stands forever. 112 1 Praise Jehovah! Blessed is the man who fears Jehovah, who delights greatly in His Commandments. 2 His seed shall be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright shall be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house, and his righteousness stands forever. 4 To the upright there arises light in the darkness; he is gracious and full of pity and righteousness. 5 A good man shows favor, and lends; he will guide his business with fairness. 6 Surely he shall not be moved forever; the righteous shall be remembered forever. 7 He shall not be afraid of bad news; his heart is fixed, trusting in Jehovah. 8 His heart is sure; he shall not be afraid though he sees his oppressors. 9 He has scattered abroad; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn shall be lifted up with honor. 10 The wicked shall see and be vexed; he shall gnash with his teeth and melt away; the desire of the wicked shall perish. 113 1 Praise Jehovah! Praise, O servants of Jehovah, praise the name of Jehovah. 2 Blessed is the name of Jehovah from this time forth and forevermore. 3 From the rising of the sun to its going down, Jehovah's name is to be praised. 4 Jehovah is high above all nations, and His glory above the heavens. 5 Who is like Jehovah our God, who dwells on high, 6 who humbles Himself to behold the things in the heavens and in the earth! 7 He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the dunghill, 8 in order to make him sit with nobles, with the nobles of his people. 9 He causes the barren to dwell in the house as a joyful mother of sons. Praise Jehovah! 114 1 When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language, 2 Judah was His sanctuary, and Israel was His kingdom. 3 The sea saw it and fled; Jordan was driven back. 4 The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs. 5 What ailed you, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, that you turned back, 6 O mountains that skipped like rams, O little hills like lambs? 7 Earth, tremble at the presence of Jehovah, at the presence of the God of Jacob, 8 who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of waters. 115 1 Not to us, O Jehovah, not to us, but to Your name give glory, for Your mercy and for Your truth's sake. 2 Why should the nations say, Where now is their God? 3 But our God is in Heaven; He has done whatever He has pleased. 4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. 5 They have mouths, but they do not speak; they have eyes, but they do not see; 6 they have ears, but they do not hear; they have noses, but they do not smell; 7 they have hands, but they do not handle; they have feet, but they do not walk; they do not mutter through their throat. 8 The ones who make them are like them, and everyone who trusts in them. 9 O Israel, trust in Jehovah; He is their help and their shield. 10 O house of Aaron, trust in Jehovah; He is their help and their shield. 11 You who fear Jehovah, trust in Jehovah; He is their help and their shield. 12 Jehovah has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. 13 He will bless those who fear Jehovah, both small and great. 14 Jehovah shall add on to you, even on you and on your sons. 15 You are blessed of Jehovah who made the heavens and the earth. 16 The heavens, even the heavens, are Jehovah's; but the earth He has given to the sons of men. 17 The dead do not praise Jehovah, nor do any who go down into silence. 18 But we will bless Jehovah from this time forth and forevermore. Praise Jehovah! 116 1 I love Jehovah because He hears my voice and my prayers. 2 Because He has bowed down His ear to me, therefore I will call on Him in my days. 3 The sorrows of death hemmed me in, and the pains of hell took hold on me; I found trouble and sorrow. 4 Then I called on the name of Jehovah; O Jehovah, I beseech You, deliver my soul. 5 Gracious is Jehovah, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. 6 Jehovah keeps the simple; I was brought low, and He helped me. 7 Return to your rest, O my soul; for Jehovah has dealt bountifully with you. 8 For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from falling. 9 I will walk before Jehovah in the land of the living. 10 I believed, therefore I have spoken; I was greatly afflicted; 11 I said in my haste, All men are liars. 12 What shall I give to Jehovah for all His benefits toward me? 13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the name of Jehovah. 14 I will pay my vows to Jehovah now in the presence of all His people. 15 Precious in the sight of Jehovah is the death of His saints. 16 O Jehovah, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, and the son of Your handmaid; You have loosed my bonds. 17 I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call on the name of Jehovah. 18 I will pay my vows to Jehovah now in the presence of all His people, 19 in the courts of Jehovah's house, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise Jehovah! 117 1 O praise Jehovah, all nations; praise Him, all peoples. 2 For His merciful kindness is great toward us; and the truth of Jehovah endures forever. Praise Jehovah! 118 1 O give thanks to Jehovah; for He is good; because His mercy endures forever. 2 Let Israel now say that His mercy endures forever. 3 Let the house of Aaron now say that His mercy endures forever. 4 Let those who fear Jehovah now say that His mercy endures forever. 5 I called on Jehovah in distress; Jehovah answered me, and set me in a large place. 6 Jehovah is for me, I will not fear; what can man do to me? 7 Jehovah is for me among those who help me; and I will see my desire on those who hate me. 8 It is better to trust in Jehovah than to trust in man. 9 It is better to trust in Jehovah than to trust in princes. 10 All the nations surround me, but in the name of Jehovah I will destroy them. 11 They surround me; yea, they surround me, but in the name of Jehovah I will destroy them. 12 They surround me like bees; they are put out like the fire of thorns; for in the name of Jehovah I will cut them off. 13 You have thrust hard at me so that I might fall; but Jehovah helped me. 14 Jehovah is my strength and song, and He is my salvation. 15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of Jehovah does mighty things. 16 The right hand of Jehovah is lifted up; the right hand of Jehovah does mighty things. 17 I shall not die, but live and declare the works of Jehovah. 18 Jehovah has sorely chastened me; but He has not given me over to death. 19 Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will go into them, and I will praise Jehovah. 20 This is the gate of Jehovah into which the righteous shall enter. 21 I will praise You; for You have heard me, and are my salvation. 22 The Stone which the builders refused has become the Head of the corner. 23 This is from Jehovah; it is marvelous in our eyes. 24 This is the day which Jehovah has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. 25 Save now, I beseech You, O Jehovah; O Jehovah, I beseech You, cause us to prosper now. 26 Blessed is He coming in the name of Jehovah; we have blessed You out of the house of Jehovah. 27 God is Jehovah, who gives light to us. Tie the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar. 28 You are my God, and I will exalt You; You are my God, I will praise You. 29 Oh give thanks to Jehovah; for He is good; for His mercy endures forever. 119 1 ALEPH: Blessed are the upright in the way, who walk in the Law of Jehovah. 2 Blessed are they who keep His testimonies, and who seek Him with all the heart. 3 They also do no iniquity; they walk in His ways. 4 You have commanded us to keep Your Commandments carefully. 5 O that my ways were fixed to keep Your Precepts! 6 Then I shall not be ashamed, when I have respect to all Your Commandments. 7 I will praise You with uprightness of heart when I have learned Your righteous judgments. 8 I will keep Your Precepts; do not forsake me completely. 9 BETH: With what shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your Word. 10 With all my heart I have sought You; do not let me wander from Your Commandments. 11 I have hidden Your Word in my heart, so that I might not sin against You. 12 Blessed are You, O Jehovah; teach me Your Precepts. 13 With my lips I have declared all the judgments of Your mouth. 14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches. 15 I will think on Your Commandments and have respect to Your ways. 16 I will delight myself in Your Precepts; I will not forget Your Word. 17 GIMEL: Deal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live and keep Your Word. 18 Open my eyes, so that I may behold wonderful things out of Your Law. 19 I am a stranger in the earth; do not hide Your Commandments from me. 20 My soul breaks for the longing that it has to Your judgments at all times. 21 You have rebuked the proud who are cursed, who go astray from Your Commandments. 22 Remove cursing and scorn from me; for I have kept Your testimonies. 23 Princes also sat and spoke against me; but Your servant thought on Your Precepts. 24 Your testimonies also are my delight and my advisers. 25 DALETH: My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to Your Word. 26 I have declared my ways, and You hear me; teach me Your Precepts. 27 Make me to understand the way of Your Commandments, and I will speak of Your wonderful works. 28 My soul weeps for grief; strengthen me according to Your Word. 29 Remove from me the way of lying; and grant me Your Law graciously. 30 I have chosen the way of truth; I have laid Your judgments before me. 31 I have stuck to Your testimonies; O Jehovah, do not put me to shame. 32 I will run the way of Your Commandments, when You shall enlarge my heart. 33 HE: O Jehovah, teach me the way of Your Precepts, and I shall keep it to the end. 34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your Law; yea, I shall observe it with all my heart. 35 Cause me to walk in the path of Your Commandments; for I delight in them. 36 Bow my heart to Your testimonies, and not to unjust gain. 37 Turn away my eyes from seeing vanity; in Your way give me life. 38 Make Your Word sure to Your servant, who is devoted to Your fear. 39 Turn away my shame which I fear; for Your judgments are good. 40 Behold, I have longed after Your Commandments; in Your righteousness give me life. 41 VAU: Let Your mercies come to me, O Jehovah, even according to Your salvation, according to Your Word. 42 And I shall have something to answer him who mocks me; for I trust in Your Word. 43 And take not the Word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in Your judgments. 44 And I shall keep Your Law continually forever and ever. 45 And I will always walk in a broad place; for I seek Your Commandments. 46 I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed. 47 And I will delight myself in Your Commandments, which I have loved. 48 And I will lift up my hands to Your Commandments which I have loved; and I will think on Your Precepts. 49 ZAYIN: Remember the Word to Your servant, on which You have caused me to hope. 50 This is my comfort in my affliction; for Your Word has given me life. 51 The proud have utterly scorned me; yet I have not turned aside from Your Law. 52 I remembered Your judgments of old, O Jehovah, and have comforted myself. 53 Horror has taken hold on me because of the wicked who forsake Your Law. 54 Your Precepts have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage. 55 I have remembered Your name, O Jehovah, in the night, and have kept Your Law. 56 This was done to me, because I kept Your Commandments. 57 CHETH: You are my portion, O Jehovah; I have said that I would keep Your Words. 58 I looked for Your favor with all my heart; be merciful to me according to Your Word. 59 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet to Your testimonies. 60 I made haste and did not delay to keep Your Commandments. 61 The bands of the wicked have robbed me; but I have not forgotten Your Law. 62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You because of Your righteous judgments. 63 I am a companion of all who fear You, and of those who keep Your Commandments. 64 O Jehovah, the earth is full of Your mercy; teach me Your Precepts. 65 TETH: You have dealt well with Your servant, O Jehovah, according to Your Word. 66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge; for I have believed Your Commandments. 67 Before I was afflicted I went astray; but now I have kept Your Word. 68 You are good, and do good; teach me Your Precepts. 69 The proud have forged a lie against me; I will keep Your Commandments with all my heart. 70 Their heart is without feeling, like fat; but I delight in Your Law. 71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted, so that I might learn Your Precepts. 72 The Law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver. 73 JOD: Your hands have made me and formed me; give me understanding so that I may learn Your Commandments. 74 They who fear You will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in Your Word. 75 I know, O Jehovah, that Your judgments are right, and that You have afflicted me in faithfulness. 76 I beseech You, let Your merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to Your Word to Your servant. 77 Let Your tender mercies come to me so that I may live; for Your Law is my delight. 78 Let the proud be ashamed; for they perverted my cause with lying; I will think on Your Commandments. 79 Let those who fear You turn to me, and those who have known Your testimonies. 80 Let my heart be sound in Your Precepts, so that I may not be ashamed. 81 KAPH: My soul faints for Your salvation; I hope in Your Word. 82 My eyes fail for Your Word, saying, When will You comfort me? 83 For I am like a wineskin in the smoke; I do not forget Your Precepts. 84 How many are the days of Your servant? When will You carry out judgment on my persecutors? 85 The proud have dug pits for me, which are not according to Your Law. 86 All Your Commandments are faithful; they persecute me with lying; help me. 87 They had almost finished me on earth; but I did not forsake Your Commandments. 88 According to Your loving-kindness give me life; so shall I keep the testimony of Your mouth. 89 LAMED: Forever, O Jehovah, Your Word is settled in the heavens. 90 Your faithfulness is to all generations; You have founded the earth, and it remains. 91 They stand to this day according to Your ordinances; for all are Your servants. 92 Unless Your Law had been my delight, I should then have perished in my affliction. 93 I will never forget Your Commandments; for with them You have given me life. 94 I am Yours, save me; for I have sought Your Commandments. 95 The wicked have waited for me to destroy me; but I will think on Your testimonies. 96 I have seen an end to all perfection; Your Commandment is exceedingly broad. 97 MEM: Oh how I love Your Law! It is my meditation all the day. 98 Through Your Commandments You make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. 99 I have more understanding than all my teachers; for Your testimonies are my prayer. 100 I understand more than the old men, because I keep Your Commandments. 101 I have kept my feet from every evil way, so that I might keep Your Word. 102 I have not departed from Your judgments; for You have taught me. 103 How sweet are Your Words to my taste! More than honey to my mouth! 104 Through Your Commandments I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. 105 NUN: Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path. 106 I have sworn, and I raised it, that I will keep Your righteous judgments. 107 I am afflicted very much; O Jehovah, give me life according to Your Word. 108 I pray You, take the free-will offerings of my mouth, O Jehovah, and teach me Your judgments. 109 My life is in my hand daily; yet I do not forget Your Law. 110 The wicked have laid a snare for me; yet I do not go astray from Your Commandments. 111 I have taken Your testimonies as an inheritance forever; for they are the rejoicing of my heart. 112 I have bowed down my heart to do Your Precepts always to the end. 113 SAMECH: I hate half-hearted thoughts; but Your Law do I love. 114 You are my hiding-place and my shield; I hope in Your Word. 115 Depart from me, you evil-doers, for I will keep the Commandments of my God. 116 Uphold me according to Your Word, that I may live; and let me not be ashamed of my hope. 117 Hold me up, and I shall be safe; and I will always have respect to Your Precepts. 118 You have trampled all those who go astray from Your Precepts; for their deceit is falsehood. 119 You put away all the wicked of the earth like waste; therefore I love Your testimonies. 120 My flesh trembles in fear of You; and I am afraid of Your judgments. 121 AYIN: I have done the just and right thing; leave me not to those who crush me. 122 Be surety for Your servant for good; let not the proud press me down. 123 My eyes fail for Your salvation, and for the Word of Your righteousness. 124 Deal with Your servant according to Your mercy, and teach me Your Precepts. 125 I am Your servant; give me understanding, that I may know Your testimonies. 126 It is time for Jehovah to work; for they have broken Your Law. 127 Therefore I love Your Commandments above gold; yea, even fine gold. 128 Therefore I count all Your Commandments concerning all things to be right; I hate every false way. 129 PE: Your testimonies are wonderful; therefore my soul keeps them. 130 The entrance of Your Words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. 131 I opened my mouth and panted; for I longed for Your Commandments. 132 Look on me, and be merciful to me, as You usually do to those who love Your name. 133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me. 134 Deliver me from the oppression of man; and I will keep Your Commandments. 135 Make Your face shine on Your servant; and teach me Your Precepts. 136 Rivers of water run down my eyes, because they do not keep Your Law. 137 TZADDI: You are righteous, O Jehovah, and Your judgments are right. 138 In Your testimonies You have commanded righteousness and faithfulness exceedingly. 139 My zeal has eaten me up, because my enemies have forgotten Your Words. 140 Your Word is very pure; therefore Your servant loves it. 141 I am small and despised; yet I do not forget Your Commandments. 142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your Law is the truth. 143 Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me; yet Your Commandments are my delight. 144 The righteousness of Your testimonies is everlasting; give me understanding, and I shall live. 145 QOPH: I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Jehovah; I will keep Your Precepts. 146 I cried to You; save me, and I shall keep Your testimonies. 147 I went before the dawning of the morning and cried; I hoped in Your Word. 148 My eyes go before the night watches, so that I might think on Your Word. 149 Hear my voice according to Your loving-kindness; O Jehovah, according to Your judgment give me life. 150 They draw near, those who follow after wickedness; they are far from Your Law. 151 You are near, O Jehovah, and all Your Commandments are truth. 152 Concerning Your testimonies, I have known of old that You have founded them forever. 153 RESH: Look on my affliction, and deliver me; for I do not forget Your Law. 154 Plead my cause, and deliver me; according to Your Word give me life. 155 Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek Your Precepts. 156 Great are Your tender mercies, O Jehovah; according to Your judgments give me life. 157 Many are my persecutors and my enemies, yet I do not turn aside from Your testimonies. 158 I saw the traitors, and was grieved because they did not keep Your Word. 159 See how I love Your Commandments; O Jehovah, according to Your loving-kindness give me life. 160 Your Word is true from the beginning; and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever. 161 SHIN: Princes have persecuted me without a cause, but my heart stands in fear of Your Word. 162 I rejoice at Your Word, as one who finds great spoil. 163 I hate and despise lying; but I love Your Law. 164 I praise You seven times a day because of Your righteous judgments. 165 Great peace is to those who love Your Law, and there is no stumbling block for them. 166 Jehovah, I have hoped for Your salvation, and have done Your Commandments. 167 My soul has kept Your testimonies; and I love them very much. 168 I have kept Your Commandments and Your testimonies; for all my ways are before You. 169 TAU: Let my cry come near to You, O Jehovah; give me wisdom according to Your Word. 170 Let my prayer come before You; deliver me according to Your Word. 171 My lips shall utter praise, when You have taught me Your Precepts. 172 My tongue shall speak Your Word, for all Your Commandments are righteousness. 173 Let Your hand help me; for I have chosen Your Precepts. 174 I have longed for Your salvation, O Jehovah; and Your Law is my delight. 175 Let my soul live, and it shall praise You; and let Your judgments help me. 176 I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant; for I do not forget Your Commandments. 120 1 A Song of degrees. In my trouble I cried to Jehovah, and He heard me. 2 Deliver my soul, O Jehovah, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. 3 What shall be given to you? Or what shall be done to you, O false tongue? 4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of broom. 5 Woe is me, that I live in Mesech; I dwell in the tents of Kedar! 6 My soul has long dwelt with a hater of peace. 7 I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war. 121 1 A Song of degrees. I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where shall my help come from? 2 My help comes from Jehovah, who made Heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 Jehovah is your keeper; Jehovah is your shade on your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 Jehovah shall keep you from all evil; He shall keep your soul. 8 Jehovah shall keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore. 122 1 A Song of degrees; of David. I was glad when they said to me, Let us go into the house of Jehovah. 2 Our feet shall stand within your gates, O Jerusalem. 3 Jerusalem is built like a city that is all joined together as one; 4 where the tribes go up, the tribes of Jehovah, to the testimony of Israel, to give thanks to the name of Jehovah. 5 For there were set the thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David. 6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; those who love you shall be blessed. 7 Peace be within your walls, blessings within your palaces. 8 For my brothers and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within you. 9 Because of the house of Jehovah our God I will seek your good. 123 1 A Song of degrees. To You I lift up my eyes, O Dweller in Heaven. 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters; as the eyes of a maiden to the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait on Jehovah our God, until He shall have mercy on us. 3 Have mercy on us, O Jehovah, have mercy on us; for we are exceedingly filled with scorn. 4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the contempt of those who are at ease, with the scorn of the proud. 124 1 A Song of degrees; of David. Except that it was Jehovah who was for us, O may Israel say; 2 Except that it was Jehovah who was for us when men rose up against us, 3 then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us; 4 then the waters would have flowed over us, the stream would have gone over our soul; 5 then the proud waters would have gone over our soul. 6 Blessed is Jehovah, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth. 7 Our soul has escaped like a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of Jehovah, who made the heavens and earth. 125 1 A Song of degrees. They who trust in Jehovah shall be like Mount Zion; it is not shaken, but remains forever. 2 As the mountains are all around Jerusalem, so Jehovah is all around His people from this time and forever. 3 For the rod of the wicked shall not rest on the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands to iniquity. 4 Do good, O Jehovah, to the good, and to the upright in their hearts. 5 And those who turn aside to their crooked ways, Jehovah shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity; peace shall be on Israel. 126 1 A Song of degrees. When Jehovah turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream. 2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing; then they said among the nations, Jehovah has done great things with them. 3 Great things did Jehovah to work with us and we are glad. 4 Turn again our captivity, O Jehovah, as the streams in the south. 5 Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. 6 He who goes forth and weeps, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. 127 1 A Song of degrees for Solomon. Unless Jehovah builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless Jehovah keeps the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep. 3 Lo, children are the inheritance of Jehovah; the fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the sons of the young. 5 Blessed is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. 128 1 A Song of degrees. Blessed is everyone who fears Jehovah, who walks in His ways. 2 For you shall surely eat the labor of your hands; you shall be happy, and all is well with you. 3 Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine by the sides of your house; your sons shall be like olive plants around your table. 4 Behold! So shall the man be blessed who fears Jehovah. 5 Jehovah shall bless you out of Zion; and you shall see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life. 6 Yea, you shall see the sons of your sons. Peace be on Israel. 129 1 A Song of degrees. Many times they have afflicted me from my youth, Israel may now say; 2 many times they have afflicted me from my youth; yet they have not prevailed over me. 3 The plowers plowed on my back; they made their furrows long. 4 Jehovah is righteous; He cuts off the cords of the wicked. 5 Let them all be ashamed and turned back, those who hate Zion. 6 Let them be like the grass on the housetops, which dries up before it grows up, 7 with which the reaper does not fill his hand, nor the binder of sheaves his bosom. 8 And those who pass by have never said, The blessing of Jehovah be on you; we bless you in the name of Jehovah. 130 1 A Song of degrees. Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Jehovah. 2 Lord, hear my voice, and let Your ears listen to the voice of My prayers. 3 If You will keep in mind iniquities, O Jehovah, who shall stand, O Lord? 4 But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared. 5 I wait for Jehovah, my soul waits, and in His Word I hope. 6 My soul waits for Jehovah more than morning-watchers who are watching for the morning. 7 Let Israel hope in Jehovah; for with Jehovah there is mercy, and with Him is plentiful redemption. 8 And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities. 131 1 A Song of degrees; of David. O Jehovah, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes lofty; nor have I walked in great things, nor in things too wondrous for me. 2 Surely I have behaved and have quieted my soul, as one weaned by its mother; my soul on me is like one weaned. 3 Let Israel hope in Jehovah from this moment and forever. 132 1 A Song of degrees. O Jehovah, remember David and all his afflictions, 2 how he swore to Jehovah; he vowed to the mighty One of Jacob. 3 Surely I will not come into the tent of my house, nor go up into my bed; 4 I will not give sleep to my eyes, nor slumber to my eyelids, 5 until I find out a place for Jehovah, a dwelling-place for the Mighty One of Jacob. 6 Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah; we found it in the fields of the wood. 7 We will go into His dwellings; we will worship at His footstool. 8 Arise, O Jehovah, into Your rest; You, and the ark of Your strength. 9 Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and Your saints shout for joy. 10 For Your servant David's sake, turn not away the face of Your anointed. 11 Jehovah has sworn to David in truth; He will not turn from it; Of the fruit of your body I will set on the throne for you. 12 If your sons will keep My covenant and My testimonies which I shall teach them, their sons shall also sit on your throne forever. 13 Jehovah has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling-place. 14 This is My rest forever; here I will dwell; for I have desired it. 15 I will greatly bless her food; I will satisfy her poor with bread. 16 I also will clothe her priests with salvation; and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. 17 There I will make the horn of David to bud; I have prepared a lamp for My anointed. 18 I will clothe his enemies with shame; but his crown shall shine on him. 133 1 A Song of degrees; of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious ointment on the head that ran down on the beard, Aaron's beard, that went down to the mouth of his garments; 3 like the dew of Hermon that came down on the mountains of Zion; for there Jehovah commanded the blessing, life forevermore. 134 1 A Song of degrees. Behold, bless Jehovah, all servants of Jehovah, who stand by night in the house of Jehovah. 2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless Jehovah. 3 May Jehovah, who made the heavens and earth, bless you out of Zion. 135 1 Praise Jehovah! Praise the name of Jehovah; praise Him, servants of Jehovah. 2 Those who stand in the house of Jehovah, in the courts of the house of our God, 3 praise Jehovah; for Jehovah is good; sing praises to His name, for it is full of delight. 4 For Jehovah has chosen Jacob to Himself, and Israel for His peculiar treasure. 5 For I know that Jehovah is great, and our LORD is above all gods. 6 Every thing Jehovah pleased, He did in the heavens and in earth, and in the seas and all deep places. 7 He causes the vapors to rise from the end of the earth; He makes lightnings for the rain; He brings wind out of His storehouses. 8 He who struck the first-born of Egypt, both of man and animal; 9 who sent signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, on Pharaoh and on all his servants; 10 who struck great nations and killed mighty kings, 11 Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan, 12 and gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to Israel His people. 13 Your name, O Jehovah, endures forever, and Your memorial, O Jehovah, throughout all generations. 14 For Jehovah will judge His people, and He will have pity on His servants. 15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. 16 They have mouths, but they do not speak; they have eyes, but they do not see; 17 they have ears, but they do not hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. 18 Those who make them are like them, everyone who trusts in them. 19 Bless Jehovah, O house of Israel; bless Jehovah, O house of Aaron; 20 bless Jehovah, O house of Levi; you who fear Jehovah, bless Jehovah. 21 Blessed is Jehovah out of Zion, who dwells at Jerusalem. Praise Jehovah! 136 1 Oh give thanks to Jehovah; for He is good; for His mercy endures forever. 2 Oh give thanks to the God of gods; for His mercy endures forever. 3 Oh give thanks to the Lord of lords; for His mercy endures forever. 4 To Him who alone does great wonders; for His mercy endures forever. 5 To Him who by wisdom made the heavens; for His mercy endures forever. 6 To Him who stretched out the earth above the waters; for His mercy endures forever. 7 To Him who made great lights; for His mercy endures forever. 8 The sun to rule by day; for His mercy endures forever. 9 the moon and stars to rule by night; for His mercy endures forever. 10 To Him who struck Egypt in their first-born; for His mercy endures forever; 11 and brought Israel out from among them, for His mercy endures forever; 12 with a strong hand, and a stretched out arm; for His mercy endures forever; 13 to Him who divided the Red Sea into parts; for His mercy endures forever; 14 and made Israel to pass through the middle of it; for His mercy endures forever; 15 but threw Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea; for His mercy endures forever. 16 To Him who led His people through the wilderness; for His mercy endures forever. 17 To Him who struck great kings; for His mercy endures forever; 18 and killed famous kings; for His mercy endures forever: 19 Sihon king of the Amorites; for His mercy endures forever; 20 and Og the king of Bashan; for His mercy endures forever; 21 and gave their land for an inheritance; for His mercy endures forever; 22 an inheritance to Israel His servant; for His mercy endures forever. 23 Who remembered us in our low estate; for His mercy endures forever; 24 and has redeemed us from our enemies; for His mercy endures forever. 25 Who gives food to all flesh; for His mercy endures forever. 26 Oh give thanks to the God of Heaven; for His mercy endures forever. 137 1 There we sat down by the rivers of Babylon; also, we wept when we remembered Zion. 2 We hung our lyres on the willows in its midst. 3 For there our captors demanded a song from us; and our plunderers demanded gladness, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. 4 How shall we sing Jehovah's song in a foreign land? 5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget. 6 If I do not remember you, let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth; if I do not prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy. 7 Remember, O Jehovah, the sons of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Make it bare! Make it bare, even to the foundation of it! 8 O daughter of Babylon, O destroyed one! Blessed is he who will repay to you your reward which you rewarded to us. 9 Blessed is he who seizes and dashes your little ones against the stones. 138 1 A Psalm of David. I will praise You with my whole heart; before the gods I will sing praise to You. 2 I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your loving-kindness and for Your truth's sake; for You have magnified Your Word above all Your name. 3 In the day when I cried You answered me and made me bold with strength in my soul. 4 All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O Jehovah, when they hear the Words of Your mouth. 5 Yea, they shall sing in the ways of Jehovah; for great is the glory of Jehovah. 6 Though Jehovah is high, yet He has respect to the lowly; but the proud He knows afar off. 7 If I walk in the midst of trouble, You will give me life; You shall stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand shall save me. 8 Jehovah will perfect His work in me; Your mercy, O Jehovah, endures forever; do not forsake the work of Your own hands. 139 1 To the Chief Musician, A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, You have searched me and have known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. 3 You search my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Jehovah, You know it altogether. 5 You have closed me in behind and in front, and laid Your hand on me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot go up to it. 7 Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? 8 If I go up into Heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the furthest parts of the sea; 10 even there shall Your hand lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me, even the night shall be light around me. 12 Yea, the darkness does not hide from You; but the night shines as the day; as is the darkness, so is the light to You. 13 For You have possessed my inward parts; You have covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will praise You; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are marvelous and my soul knows it very well. 15 My bones were not hidden from You when I was made in secret and skillfully formed in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my embryo; and in Your book all my members were written, the days they were formed, and not one was among them. 17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they are more than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You. 19 Surely You will slay the wicked, O God; and bloody men, depart from me. 20 Who will speak against You maliciously? Your enemies are lifted up with vanity. 21 O Jehovah, do I not hate those who hate You? And am I not grieved with those who rise up against You? 22 I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them my enemies. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts, 24 and see if any wicked way is in me; and lead me in the way everlasting. 140 1 To the Chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O Jehovah, from the evil man; keep me from the violent man, 2 who devised evil things in the heart; they are always gathered for war. 3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah. 4 O Jehovah, keep me from the hands of the wicked; keep me from the violent man who purposed to trip up my steps. 5 The proud have hidden cords and a trap for me; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set snares for me. Selah. 6 I said to Jehovah, You are my God; O Jehovah, hear the voice of my prayers. 7 O Lord Jehovah, the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle. 8 O Jehovah, do not grant the desires of the wicked; do not help his wicked plans, lest they praise themselves. Selah. 9 As for the head of those around me, let the evil of their own lips cover them. 10 Let burning coals fall on them; let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, so that they do not rise up again. 11 Do not let an evil speaker be established in the earth; evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him. 12 I know that Jehovah will maintain the cause of the afflicted and the right of the poor. 13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in Your presence. 141 1 A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, I cry to You; make haste to me, give ear to my voice when I cry to You. 2 Let my prayer be set forth before You as incense, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. 3 Set a watch, O Jehovah, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. 4 Let not my heart turn aside to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men who work iniquity; and let me not eat of their delicacies. 5 Let the righteous strike me; it shall be a kindness; and let him correct me, it is oil on my head, let not my head refuse it; for still my prayer also shall be against their wickedness. 6 When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet. 7 Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when one cuts and splits wood on the earth. 8 But my eyes are on You, O Lord Jehovah; in You I take refuge, do not leave my soul naked. 9 Keep me from the traps which they have laid for me, and the snares of the workers of evil. 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets together, while I escape. 142 1 An Instruction of David; A Prayer when he was in the cave. I cried to Jehovah with my voice; with my voice I prayed to Jehovah. 2 I poured out my prayer before Him; I declared my trouble before Him. 3 When my spirit fainted within me, then You knew my path. In the way in which I walked they have secretly laid a snare for me. 4 I looked on my right hand, and I watched, but no one recognized me; escape was lost to me; no man cared for my soul. 5 I cried to You, O Jehovah; I said, You are my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. 6 Hear my cry; for I am brought very low; deliver me from my pursuers; for they are stronger than I. 7 Bring my soul out of prison that I may praise Your name; the righteous shall gather around me; for You shall reward me. 143 1 A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer O Jehovah; give ear to my supplications; in Your faithfulness and in Your righteousness answer me. 2 And do not enter into judgment with Your servant, for in Your sight no one living is just. 3 For the enemy has pursued my soul; he has beaten my life down to the ground; he has made me dwell in darkness, as those long dead. 4 And my spirit has fainted within me; my heart has become weary within me. 5 I remember the days of old; I think on all Your works; I muse on the work of Your hands. 6 I stretch forth my hands to You; my soul thirsts after You like a thirsty land. Selah. 7 Hear me quickly, O Jehovah; my spirit fails; do not hide Your face from me, lest I be like those who go down into the Pit. 8 Cause me to hear Your loving-kindness in the morning, for I do trust in You; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You. 9 Deliver me, O Jehovah, from my enemies; I flee to You to hide me. 10 Teach me to do Your will; for You are my God; Your Spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. 11 O Jehovah, for Your name's sake enliven me; for Your righteousness' sake, bring my soul out of trouble. 12 And out of Your mercy cut off my enemies, and destroy all those who afflict my soul; for I am Your servant. 144 1 A Psalm of David. Blessed is Jehovah my Rock, who teaches My hands for war, my fingers for battle. 2 He is my goodness and my fortress; my high tower and my deliverer; my shield and He in whom I trust; who humbles my people under me. 3 O Jehovah, what is man that You take knowledge of him! Or the son of man, that You esteem him? 4 Man is like vanity; his days are like a shadow that passes away. 5 Bow down Your heavens, O Jehovah, and come down; touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. 6 Cast forth lightning and scatter them; shoot out Your arrows and destroy them. 7 Send Your hand from above; rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of a foreigner's sons; 8 because their mouth has spoken vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of lies. 9 I will sing a new song to You, O God; on a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You. 10 It is You who gives salvation to kings; who delivers David His servant from the hurtful sword. 11 Rescue me, and deliver me from the hand of foreigners' sons, because their mouth has spoken vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood; 12 so that our sons may be like plants grown up in their youth; and our daughters may be like corner-stones, polished like a palace building; 13 and our storehouses may be full, furnishing kind to kind; and our flocks may breed thousands and ten thousands outside; 14 and our oxen may be loaded; there is no breaking in nor going out and no crying in our streets. 15 Blessed are the peoples who are so; blessed are the peoples to whom Jehovah is their God. 145 1 Praise, of David. I will lift You up, my God, O King; and I will bless Your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will bless You; and I will praise Your name forever and ever. 3 Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised; and there is no searching out His greatness. 4 One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts. 5 I will speak of the glorious honor of Your majesty, and of Your wonderful works. 6 And men shall speak of the might of Your awesome works; and I will declare Your greatness. 7 They shall pour forth the memory of Your great goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousness. 8 Jehovah is gracious and full of pity; slow to anger, and of great mercy. 9 Jehovah is good to all; and His tender mercies are over all His works. 10 All Your works shall praise You, O Jehovah; and Your saints shall bless You. 11 They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power, 12 to make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of His kingdom. 13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your rule endures throughout all generations. 14 Jehovah upholds all who fall, and raises up all those bowed down. 15 The eyes of all wait on You; and You give them their food in due season. 16 You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. 17 Jehovah is righteous in all His ways and holy in all His works. 18 Jehovah is near all those who call on Him, all those who call on Him in truth. 19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry, and will save them. 20 Jehovah watches over all those who love Him; but all the wicked He will destroy. 21 My mouth shall speak the praise of Jehovah; and let all flesh bless His holy name forever and ever. 146 1 Praise Jehovah. Praise Jehovah, O my soul. 2 While I live I will praise Jehovah; I will sing praises to my God while I have any being. 3 Do not put your trust in princes, nor in the son of man in whom there is no salvation. 4 His breath goes forth; he returns to the earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. 5 Blessed is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose help is in Jehovah his God, 6 who made the heavens and earth, the sea and all that is in it; who keeps truth forever; 7 who carries out judgment for the mistreated; who gives food to the hungry. Jehovah lets the prisoners loose; 8 the Lord opens the eyes of the blind; Jehovah raises those who are bowed down; Jehovah loves the righteous; 9 Jehovah preserves the strangers; He relieves the orphan and widow, but the way of the wicked He turns upside down. 10 Jehovah shall reign forever, even your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise Jehovah! 147 1 Praise Jehovah; for it is good to sing praises to our God; for praise is delightful and becoming. 2 Jehovah builds up Jerusalem; He gathers together the outcasts of Israel. 3 He heals the broken-hearted, and binds up their wounds. 4 He appoints the number of the stars; He calls them all by their names. 5 Great is our LORD, and of great power; There is no limit to His understanding. 6 Jehovah lifts up the meek; He throws the wicked down to the ground. 7 Sing to Jehovah with thanksgiving; sing praise on the harp to our God, 8 who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the mountains. 9 He gives the beasts their food, and to the young ravens which cry. 10 He delights not in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man. 11 Jehovah takes pleasure in those who fear Him, who hope in His mercy. 12 Praise Jehovah, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion. 13 For He has made the bars of your gates strong; He has blessed your sons within you. 14 He makes peace in your borders and fills you with the finest of the wheat. 15 He sends forth His Commandment on earth; His Word runs very swiftly. 16 He gives snow like wool; He scatters the hoarfrost like ashes. 17 He casts forth His ice like crumbs; who can stand before His cold? 18 He sends out His Word and melts them; He causes His wind to blow, and the waters flow. 19 He shows His Word to Jacob, His Precepts and His judgments to Israel. 20 He has not done so with any nation; and they have not known His judgments. Praise Jehovah! 148 1 Praise Jehovah! Praise Jehovah from the heavens; praise Him in the heights. 2 Praise Him, all His angels; praise Him, all His hosts. 3 Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all stars of light. 4 Praise Him, heavens of heavens, and waters that are above the heavens. 5 Let them praise the name of Jehovah; for He commanded, and they were created. 6 He has also settled them forever and ever; He has made a decree which shall not pass away. 7 Let praise be to Jehovah from the earth, the sea-monsters, and all deeps; 8 fire and hail, snow and vapor, stormy wind fulfilling His Word, 9 mountains and all hills, fruitful trees and all cedars, 10 beasts and all cattle, creeping things and birds of the wing, 11 kings of the earth and all people, princes and all judges of the earth, 12 both young men and maidens, old men and children; 13 let them praise the name of Jehovah; for His name alone is excellent; His glory is above the earth and heavens. 14 He also lifts up the horn of His people, the praise of all His saints, even of the sons of Israel, a people near to Him. Praise Jehovah! 149 1 Praise Jehovah! Sing to Jehovah a new song, His praise in the congregation of saints. 2 Let Israel rejoice in his Maker; let the sons of Zion be joyful in their King. 3 Let them praise His name in the dance; let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. 4 For Jehovah takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the meek with salvation. 5 Let the saints be joyful in glory; let them sing aloud on their beds. 6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand, 7 to carry out vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples, 8 to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with iron-bands, 9 to carry out on them the judgment written; this is an honor for all His saints. Praise Jehovah! 150 1 Praise Jehovah. Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in the expanse of His power. 2 Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His excellent greatness. 3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; praise Him with the harp and lyre. 4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and pipes. 5 Praise Him on the sounding cymbals; praise Him with the resounding cymbals. 6 Let everything that breathes praise Jehovah. Praise Jehovah!
