Samuel 28:3-25

KJV_Strongs(i)
H8050 Now Samuel H4191 was dead [H8804]   H3478 , and all Israel H5594 had lamented [H8799]   H6912 him, and buried [H8799]   H7414 him in Ramah H5892 , even in his own city H7586 . And Saul H5493 had put away [H8689]   H178 those that had familiar spirits H3049 , and the wizards H776 , out of the land.
H6430 And the Philistines H6908 gathered themselves together [H8735]   H935 , and came [H8799]   H2583 and pitched [H8799]   H7766 in Shunem H7586 : and Saul H6908 gathered H3478 all Israel H6908 together [H8799]   H2583 , and they pitched [H8799]   H1533 in Gilboa.
H7586 And when Saul H7200 saw [H8799]   H4264 the host H6430 of the Philistines H3372 , he was afraid [H8799]   H3820 , and his heart H3966 greatly H2729 trembled [H8799]  .
H7586 And when Saul H7592 enquired [H8799]   H3068 of the LORD H3068 , the LORD H6030 answered [H8804]   H2472 him not, neither by dreams H224 , nor by Urim H5030 , nor by prophets.
H559 Then said [H8799]   H7586 Saul H5650 unto his servants H1245 , Seek [H8761]   H802 me a woman H1172 that hath H178 a familiar spirit H3212 , that I may go [H8799]   H1875 to her, and enquire [H8799]   H5650 of her. And his servants H559 said [H8799]   H802 to him, Behold, there is a woman H1172 that hath H178 a familiar spirit H5874 at Endor.
H7586 And Saul H2664 disguised [H8691]   H3847 himself, and put on [H8799]   H312 other H899 raiment H3212 , and he went [H8799]   H8147 , and two H582 men H935 with him, and they came [H8799]   H802 to the woman H3915 by night H559 : and he said [H8799]   H7080 , I pray thee, divine [H8798]   H178 unto me by the familiar spirit H5927 , and bring me him up [H8685]   H559 , whom I shall name [H8799]   unto thee.
H802 And the woman H559 said [H8799]   H3045 unto him, Behold, thou knowest [H8804]   H7586 what Saul H6213 hath done [H8804]   H3772 , how he hath cut off [H8689]   H178 those that have familiar spirits H3049 , and the wizards H776 , out of the land H5367 : wherefore then layest thou a snare [H8693]   H5315 for my life H4191 , to cause me to die [H8687]  ?
H7586 And Saul H7650 sware [H8735]   H3068 to her by the LORD H559 , saying [H8800]   H3068 , As the LORD H2416 liveth H518 , there shall H5771 no punishment H7136 happen [H8799]   H1697 to thee for this thing.
H559 Then said [H8799]   H802 the woman H5927 , Whom shall I bring up [H8686]   H559 unto thee? And he said [H8799]   H5927 , Bring me up [H8685]   H8050 Samuel.
H802 And when the woman H7200 saw [H8799]   H8050 Samuel H2199 , she cried [H8799]   H1419 with a loud H6963 voice H802 : and the woman H559 spake [H8799]   H7586 to Saul H559 , saying [H8800]   H7411 , Why hast thou deceived [H8765]   H7586 me? for thou art Saul.
H4428 And the king H559 said [H8799]   H3372 unto her, Be not afraid [H8799]   H7200 : for what sawest [H8804]   H802 thou? And the woman H559 said [H8799]   H7586 unto Saul H7200 , I saw [H8804]   H430 gods H5927 ascending [H8802]   H776 out of the earth.
H559 And he said [H8799]   H8389 unto her, What form H559 is he of? And she said [H8799]   H2205 , An old H376 man H5927 cometh up [H8802]   H5844 ; and he is covered [H8802]   H4598 with a mantle H7586 . And Saul H3045 perceived [H8799]   H8050 that it was Samuel H6915 , and he stooped [H8799]   H639 with his face H776 to the ground H7812 , and bowed [H8691]   himself.
H8050 And Samuel H559 said [H8799]   H7586 to Saul H7264 , Why hast thou disquieted [H8689]   H5927 me, to bring me up [H8687]   H7586 ? And Saul H559 answered [H8799]   H3966 , I am sore H6887 distressed [H8804]   H6430 ; for the Philistines H3898 make war [H8737]   H430 against me, and God H5493 is departed [H8804]   H6030 from me, and answereth [H8804]   H3027 me no more, neither by H5030 prophets H2472 , nor by dreams H7121 : therefore I have called [H8799]   H3045 thee, that thou mayest make known [H8687]   H6213 unto me what I shall do [H8799]  .
H559 Then said [H8799]   H8050 Samuel H7592 , Wherefore then dost thou ask [H8799]   H3068 of me, seeing the LORD H5493 is departed [H8804]   H6145 from thee, and is become thine enemy?
H3068 And the LORD H6213 hath done [H8799]   H1696 to him, as he spake [H8765]   H3027 by me H3068 : for the LORD H7167 hath rent [H8799]   H4467 the kingdom H3027 out of thine hand H5414 , and given [H8799]   H7453 it to thy neighbour H1732 , even to David:
H834 Because H8085 thou obeyedst [H8804]   H6963 not the voice H3068 of the LORD H6213 , nor executedst [H8804]   H2740 his fierce H639 wrath H6002 upon Amalek H3068 , therefore hath the LORD H6213 done [H8804]   H1697 this thing H3117 unto thee this day.
H3068 Moreover the LORD H5414 will also deliver [H8799]   H3478 Israel H3027 with thee into the hand H6430 of the Philistines H4279 : and to morrow H1121 shalt thou and thy sons H3068 be with me: the LORD H5414 also shall deliver [H8799]   H4264 the host H3478 of Israel H3027 into the hand H6430 of the Philistines.
H7586 Then Saul H5307 fell [H8799]   H4116 straightway [H8762]   H4393 all H6967 along H776 on the earth H3966 , and was sore H3372 afraid [H8799]   H1697 , because of the words H8050 of Samuel H3581 : and there was no strength H398 in him; for he had eaten [H8804]   H3899 no bread H3117 all the day H3915 , nor all the night.
H802 And the woman H935 came [H8799]   H7586 unto Saul H7200 , and saw [H8799]   H3966 that he was sore H926 troubled [H8738]   H559 , and said [H8799]   H8198 unto him, Behold, thine handmaid H8085 hath obeyed [H8804]   H6963 thy voice H7760 , and I have put [H8799]   H5315 my life H3709 in my hand H8085 , and have hearkened [H8799]   H1697 unto thy words H1696 which thou spakest [H8765]   unto me.
H8085 Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken [H8798]   H6963 thou also unto the voice H8198 of thine handmaid H7760 , and let me set [H8799]   H6595 a morsel H3899 of bread H6440 before H398 thee; and eat [H8798]   H3581 , that thou mayest have strength H3212 , when thou goest [H8799]   H1870 on thy way.
H3985 But he refused [H8762]   H559 , and said [H8799]   H398 , I will not eat [H8799]   H5650 . But his servants H802 , together with the woman H6555 , compelled [H8799]   H8085 him; and he hearkened [H8799]   H6963 unto their voice H6965 . So he arose [H8799]   H776 from the earth H3427 , and sat [H8799]   H4296 upon the bed.
H802 And the woman H4770 had a fat H5695 calf H1004 in the house H4116 ; and she hasted [H8762]   H2076 , and killed [H8799]   H3947 it, and took [H8799]   H7058 flour H3888 , and kneaded [H8799]   H644 it, and did bake [H8799]   H4682 unleavened bread thereof:
H5066 And she brought [H8686]   H6440 it before H7586 Saul H6440 , and before H5650 his servants H398 ; and they did eat [H8799]   H6965 . Then they rose up [H8799]   H3212 , and went away [H8799]   H3915 that night.
ERV(i) 3 Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. 4 And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa. 5 And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly. 6 And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets. 7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at En-dor. 8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, Divine unto me, I pray thee, by the familiar spirit, and bring me up whomsoever I shall name unto thee. 9 And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? 10 And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing. 11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. 12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. 13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what seest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I see a god coming up out of the earth. 14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a robe. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground, and did obeisance. 15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. 16 And Samuel said, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine adversary? 17 And the LORD hath wrought for himself, as he spake by me: and the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David. 18 Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD and didst not execute his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day. 19 Moreover the LORD will deliver Israel also with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and tomorrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD shall deliver the host of Israel also into the hand of the Philistines. 20 Then Saul fell straightway his full length upon the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night. 21 And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thine handmaid hath hearkened unto thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me. 22 Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way. 23 But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, constrained him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed. 24 And the woman had a fatted calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it; and she took flour, and kneaded it, and did bake unleavened bread thereof: 25 and she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
