8 H7121 ויקראו So they read H5612 בספר in the book H8451 בתורת in the law H430 האלהים of God H6567 מפרשׁ distinctly, H7760 ושׂום and gave H7922 שׂכל the sense, H995 ויבינו and caused to understand H4744 במקרא׃ the reading.

10 H559 ויאמר Then he said H1980 להם לכו unto them, Go H398 אכלו your way, eat H4924 משׁמנים the fat, H8354 ושׁתו and drink H4477 ממתקים the sweet, H7971 ושׁלחו and send H4490 מנות portions H369 לאין unto them for whom nothing H3559 נכון is prepared: H3588 לו כי for H6918 קדושׁ holy H3117 היום day H136 לאדנינו H408 ואל neither H6087 תעצבו be ye sorry; H3588 כי for H2304 חדות the joy H3068 יהוה of the LORD H1931 היא H4581 מעזכם׃ is your strength.

11 H3881 והלוים So the Levites H2814 מחשׁים stilled H3605 לכל all H5971 העם the people, H559 לאמר saying, H2013 הסו Hold your peace, H3588 כי for H3117 היום the day H6918 קדשׁ holy; H408 ואל neither H6087 תעצבו׃ be ye grieved.

12 H1980 וילכו went H3605 כל And all H5971 העם the people H398 לאכל their way to eat, H8354 ולשׁתות and to drink, H7971 ולשׁלח and to send H4490 מנות portions, H6213 ולעשׂות and to make H8057 שׂמחה mirth, H1419 גדולה great H3588 כי because H995 הבינו they had understood H1697 בדברים the words H834 אשׁר that H3045 הודיעו׃ were declared

13 H3117 וביום day H8145 השׁני And on the second H622 נאספו were gathered together H7218 ראשׁי the chief H1 האבות of the fathers H3605 לכל of all H5971 העם the people, H3548 הכהנים the priests, H3881 והלוים and the Levites, H413 אל unto H5830 עזרא Ezra H5608 הספר the scribe, H7919 ולהשׂכיל even to understand H413 אל even to understand H1697 דברי the words H8451 התורה׃ of the law.

14 H4672 וימצאו And they found H3789 כתוב written H8451 בתורה in the law H834 אשׁר which H6680 צוה had commanded H3068 יהוה the LORD H3027 ביד by H4872 משׁה Moses, H834 אשׁר that H3427 ישׁבו should dwell H1121 בני the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H5521 בסכות in booths H2282 בחג in the feast H2320 בחדשׁ month: H7637 השׁביעי׃ of the seventh

16 H3318 ויצאו went forth, H5971 העם So the people H935 ויביאו and brought H6213 ויעשׂו and made H1992 להם H5521 סכות themselves booths, H376 אישׁ every one H5921 על upon H1406 גגו the roof of his house, H2691 ובחצרתיהם and in their courts, H2691 ובחצרות and in the courts H1004 בית of the house H430 האלהים of God, H7339 וברחוב and in the street H8179 שׁער gate, H4325 המים of the water H7339 וברחוב and in the street H8179 שׁער of the gate H669 אפרים׃ of Ephraim.

17 H6213 ויעשׂו made H3605 כל And all H6951 הקהל the congregation H7725 השׁבים of them that were come again H4480 מן out of H7628 השׁבי the captivity H5521 סכות booths, H3427 וישׁבו and sat H5521 בסכות under the booths: H3588 כי for H3808 לא had not H6213 עשׂו done H3117 מימי since the days H3442 ישׁוע of Jeshua H1121 בן the son H5126 נון of Nun H3651 כן so.
