Nehemiah 5:1-11 ותהי And there was צעקת cry העם of the people ונשׁיהם and of their wives גדולה a great אל against אחיהם their brethren היהודים׃ the Jews.

2 H3426 וישׁ For there were H834 אשׁר that H559 אמרים said, H1121 בנינו our sons, H1323 ובנתינו and our daughters, H587 אנחנו We, H7227 רבים many: H3947 ונקחה therefore we take up H1715 דגן corn H398 ונאכלה that we may eat, H2421 ונחיה׃ and live.

3 H3426 וישׁ also there were H834 אשׁר that H559 אמרים said, H7704 שׂדתינו our lands, H3754 וכרמינו vineyards, H1004 ובתינו and houses, H587 אנחנו We H6148 ערבים have mortgaged H3947 ונקחה that we might buy H1715 דגן corn, H7458 ברעב׃ because of the dearth.

4 H3426 וישׁ There were H834 אשׁר also that H559 אמרים said, H3867 לוינו We have borrowed H3701 כסף money H4060 למדת tribute, H4428 המלך for the king's H7704 שׂדתינו our lands H3754 וכרמינו׃ and vineyards.

5 H6258 ועתה Yet now H1320 כבשׂר our flesh H251 אחינו of our brethren, H1320 בשׂרנו as the flesh H1121 כבניהם our children H1121 בנינו as their children: H2009 והנה and, lo, H587 אנחנו we H3533 כבשׁים bring into bondage H853 את H1121 בנינו our sons H853 ואת H1323 בנתינו and our daughters H5650 לעבדים to be servants, H3426 וישׁ are H1323 מבנתינו and of our daughters H3533 נכבשׁות brought unto bondage H369 ואין neither H410 לאל in our power H3027 ידנו in our power H7704 ושׂדתינו men have our lands H3754 וכרמינו and vineyards. 6 H2734 ויחר angry H3966 לי מאד And I was very H834 כאשׁר when H8085 שׁמעתי I heard H853 את H2201 זעקתם their cry H853 ואת H1697 הדברים words. H428 האלה׃ and these

7 H4427 וימלך Then I consulted H3820 לבי myself, H5921 עלי with H7378 ואריבה and I rebuked H853 את H2715 החרים the nobles, H853 ואת H5461 הסגנים and the rulers, H559 ואמרה and said H5378 להם משׁא exact H376 אישׁ every one H251 באחיו of his brother. H859 אתם unto them, Ye H5383 נשׁאים H5414 ואתן And I set H5921 עליהם against H6952 קהלה assembly H1419 גדולה׃ a great

8 H559 ואמרה And I said H587 להם אנחנו unto them, We H7069 קנינו have redeemed H853 את H251 אחינו our brethren H3064 היהודים the Jews, H4376 הנמכרים which were sold H1471 לגוים unto the heathen; H1767 כדי after our ability H1571 בנו וגם even H859 אתם and will ye H4376 תמכרו sell H853 את H251 אחיכם your brethren? H4376 ונמכרו or shall they be sold H2790 לנו ויחרישׁו unto us? Then held they their peace, H3808 ולא nothing H4672 מצאו and found H1696 דבר׃

9 H559 ויאמר Also I said, H3808 לא It not H2896 טוב good H1697 הדבר good H834 אשׁר that H859 אתם ye H6213 עשׂים do: H3808 הלוא ought ye not H3374 ביראת in the fear H430 אלהינו of our God H1980 תלכו to walk H2781 מחרפת because of the reproach H1471 הגוים of the heathen H341 אויבינו׃ our enemies?

10 H1571 וגם likewise, H589 אני I H251 אחי my brethren, H5288 ונערי and my servants, H5383 נשׁים might exact H3701 בהם כסף of them money H1715 ודגן and corn: H5800 נעזבה you, let us leave off H4994 נא I pray H853 את H4855 המשׁא usury. H2088 הזה׃ this

11 H7725 השׁיבו Restore, H4994 נא I pray H3117 להם כהיום you, to them, even this day, H7704 שׂדתיהם their lands, H3754 כרמיהם their vineyards, H2132 זיתיהם their oliveyards, H1004 ובתיהם and their houses, H3967 ומאת also the hundredth H3701 הכסף of the money, H1715 והדגן and of the corn, H8492 התירושׁ the wine, H3323 והיצהר and the oil, H834 אשׁר that H859 אתם ye H5383 נשׁים׃ exact
