Jeremiah 37:1-39 וימלך reigned מלך And king צדקיהו Zedekiah בן the son יאשׁיהו of Josiah תחת instead כניהו of Coniah בן the son יהויקים of Jehoiakim, אשׁר whom המליך made king נבוכדראצר Nebuchadnezzar מלך king בבל of Babylon בארץ in the land יהודה׃ of Judah.

2 H3808 ולא But neither H8085 שׁמע did hearken H1931 הוא he, H5650 ועבדיו nor his servants, H5971 ועם nor the people H776 הארץ of the land, H413 אל unto H1697 דברי the words H3068 יהוה of the LORD, H834 אשׁר which H1696 דבר he spoke H3027 ביד by H3414 ירמיהו Jeremiah. H5030 הנביא׃ the prophet

3 H7971 וישׁלח sent H4428 המלך the king H6667 צדקיהו And Zedekiah H853 את H3081 יהוכל Jehucal H1121 בן the son H8018 שׁלמיה of Shelemiah H853 ואת H6846 צפניהו and Zephaniah H1121 בן the son H4641 מעשׂיה of Maaseiah H3548 הכהן the priest H413 אל to H3414 ירמיהו Jeremiah, H5030 הנביא the prophet H559 לאמר saying, H6419 התפלל Pray H4994 נא now H5704 בעדנו H413 אל unto H3068 יהוה the LORD H430 אלהינו׃ our God

4 H3414 וירמיהו Now Jeremiah H935 בא came in H3318 ויצא and went out H8432 בתוך among H5971 העם the people: H3808 ולא for they had not H5414 נתנו put H853 אתו H1004 בית him into prison. H3628 הכליא׃ him into prison.

5 H2428 וחיל army H6547 פרעה Then Pharaoh's H3318 יצא was come forth H4714 ממצרים H8085 וישׁמעו heard H3778 הכשׂדים and when the Chaldeans H6696 הצרים that besieged H5921 על that besieged H3389 ירושׁלם Jerusalem H853 את H8088 שׁמעם tidings H5927 ויעלו of them, they departed H5921 מעל from H3389 ירושׁלם׃ Jerusalem.

6 H1961 ויהי Then came H1697 דבר the word H3068 יהוה of the LORD H413 אל unto H3414 ירמיהו Jeremiah, H5030 הנביא the prophet H559 לאמר׃ saying,

7 H3541 כה Thus H559 אמר saith H3068 יהוה the LORD, H430 אלהי the God H3478 ישׂראל of Israel; H3541 כה Thus H559 תאמרו shall ye say H413 אל to H4428 מלך the king H3063 יהודה of Judah, H7971 השׁלח that sent H853 אתכם H413 אלי you unto H1875 לדרשׁני me to inquire H2009 הנה of me; Behold, H2428 חיל army, H6547 פרעה Pharaoh's H3318 היצא which is come forth H5833 לכם לעזרה to help H7725 שׁב you, shall return H776 לארצו into their own land. H4714 מצרים׃ to Egypt

8 H7725 ושׁבו shall come again, H3778 הכשׂדים And the Chaldeans H3898 ונלחמו and fight H5921 על against H5892 העיר city, H2063 הזאת this H3920 ולכדה and take H8313 ושׂרפה it, and burn H784 באשׁ׃ it with fire.

9 H3541 כה Thus H559 אמר saith H3068 יהוה the LORD; H408 אל not H5377 תשׁאו Deceive H5315 נפשׁתיכם yourselves, H559 לאמר saying, H1980 הלך shall surely depart H1980 ילכו shall surely depart H5921 מעלינו from H3778 הכשׂדים The Chaldeans H3588 כי us: for H3808 לא they shall not H1980 ילכו׃ depart.

10 H3588 כי For H518 אם though H5221 הכיתם ye had smitten H3605 כל the whole H2428 חיל army H3778 כשׂדים of the Chaldeans H3898 הנלחמים that fight H854 אתכם against H7604 ונשׁארו you, and there remained H376 בם אנשׁים men H1856 מדקרים wounded H376 אישׁ every man H168 באהלו in his tent, H6965 יקומו among them, should they rise H8313 ושׂרפו and burn H853 את H5892 העיר city H2063 הזאת this H784 באשׁ׃ with fire.

11 H1961 והיה And it came to pass, H5927 בהעלות was broken up H2428 חיל that when the army H3778 הכשׂדים of the Chaldeans H5921 מעל from H3389 ירושׁלם Jerusalem H6440 מפני for fear H2428 חיל army, H6547 פרעה׃ of Pharaoh's

12 H3318 ויצא went forth H3414 ירמיהו Then Jeremiah H3389 מירושׁלם H1980 ללכת to go H776 ארץ into the land H1144 בנימן of Benjamin, H2505 לחלק to separate himself H8033 משׁם thence H8432 בתוך in the midst H5971 העם׃ of the people.

13 H1961 ויהי was H1931 הוא And when he H8179 בשׁער in the gate H1144 בנימן of Benjamin, H8033 ושׁם there, H1167 בעל a captain H6488 פקדת of the ward H8034 ושׁמו whose name H3376 יראייה Irijah, H1121 בן the son H8018 שׁלמיה of Shelemiah, H1121 בן the son H2608 חנניה of Hananiah; H8610 ויתפשׂ and he took H853 את H3414 ירמיהו Jeremiah H5030 הנביא the prophet, H559 לאמר saying, H413 אל to H3778 הכשׂדים the Chaldeans. H859 אתה Thou H5307 נפל׃ fallest away

14 H559 ויאמר Then said H3414 ירמיהו Jeremiah, H8267 שׁקר false; H369 אינני not H5307 נפל I fall H5921 על away to H3778 הכשׂדים the Chaldeans. H3808 ולא not H8085 שׁמע But he hearkened H413 אליו to H8610 ויתפשׂ took H3376 יראייה him: so Irijah H3414 בירמיהו Jeremiah, H935 ויבאהו and brought H413 אל him to H8269 השׂרים׃ the princes.

15 H7107 ויקצפו were wroth H8269 השׂרים Wherefore the princes H5921 על with H3414 ירמיהו Jeremiah, H5221 והכו and smote H853 אתו H5414 ונתנו him, and put H853 אותו H1004 בית him in prison H612 האסור him in prison H1004 בית in the house H3083 יהונתן of Jonathan H5608 הספר the scribe: H3588 כי for H853 אתו H6213 עשׂו they had made H1004 לבית that the prison. 16 H3588 כי When H935 בא was entered H3414 ירמיהו Jeremiah H413 אל into H1004 בית the dungeon, H953 הבור the dungeon, H413 ואל and into H2588 החניות the cabins, H3427 וישׁב had remained H8033 שׁם there H3414 ירמיהו and Jeremiah H3117 ימים days; H7227 רבים׃ many

17 H7971 וישׁלח sent, H4428 המלך the king H6667 צדקיהו Then Zedekiah H3947 ויקחהו and took H7592 וישׁאלהו asked H4428 המלך him out: and the king H1004 בביתו in his house, H5643 בסתר him secretly H559 ויאמר and said, H3426 הישׁ Is there H1697 דבר word H853 מאת H3068 יהוה the LORD? H559 ויאמר said, H3414 ירמיהו And Jeremiah H3426 ישׁ There is: H559 ויאמר for, said H3027 ביד into the hand H4428 מלך of the king H894 בבל of Babylon. H5414 תנתן׃ he, thou shalt be delivered

18 H559 ויאמר said H3414 ירמיהו Moreover Jeremiah H413 אל unto H4428 המלך king H6667 צדקיהו Zedekiah, H4100 מה What H2398 חטאתי have I offended H5650 לך ולעבדיך against thee, or against thy servants, H5971 ולעם people, H2088 הזה or against this H3588 כי that H5414 נתתם ye have put H853 אותי H413 אל me in H1004 בית prison? H3608 הכלא׃ prison?

19 H346 ואיו Where H5030 נביאיכם now your prophets H834 אשׁר which H5012 נבאו prophesied H559 לכם לאמר unto you, saying, H3808 לא shall not H935 יבא come H4428 מלך The king H894 בבל of Babylon H5921 עליכם against H5921 ועל you, nor against H776 הארץ land? H2063 הזאת׃ this

20 H6258 ועתה now, H8085 שׁמע Therefore hear H4994 נא I pray thee, H113 אדני O my lord H4428 המלך the king: H5307 תפל be accepted H4994 נא I pray thee, H8467 תחנתי let my supplication, H6440 לפניך before H408 ואל thee; that thou cause me not H7725 תשׁבני to return H1004 בית to the house H3083 יהונתן of Jonathan H5608 הספר the scribe, H3808 ולא lest H4191 אמות I die H8033 שׁם׃ there.

21 H6680 ויצוה commanded H4428 המלך the king H6667 צדקיהו Then Zedekiah H6485 ויפקדו that they should commit H853 את H3414 ירמיהו Jeremiah H2691 בחצר into the court H4307 המטרה of the prison, H5414 ונתן and that they should give H3603 לו ככר a piece H3899 לחם of bread H3117 ליום him daily H2351 מחוץ street, H644 האפים out of the bakers' H5704 עד until H8552 תם were spent. H3605 כל all H3899 הלחם the bread H4480 מן street, H5892 העיר the city H3427 וישׁב remained H3414 ירמיהו Thus Jeremiah H2691 בחצר in the court H4307 המטרה׃ of the prison.
