Genesis 39:1-23 ויוסף And Joseph הורד was brought down מצרימה to Egypt; ויקנהו bought פוטיפר and Potiphar, סריס an officer פרעה of Pharaoh, שׂר captain הטבחים of the guard, אישׁ מצרי מיד him of the hands הישׁמעאלים of the Ishmaelites, אשׁר which הורדהו had brought him down שׁמה׃ thither.

1 H3130 ויוסף And Joseph H3381 הורד was brought down H4714 מצרימה to Egypt; H7069 ויקנהו bought H6318 פוטיפר and Potiphar, H5631 סריס an officer H6547 פרעה of Pharaoh, H8269 שׂר captain H2876 הטבחים of the guard, H376 אישׁ H4713 מצרי H3027 מיד him of the hands H3459 הישׁמעאלים of the Ishmaelites, H834 אשׁר which H3381 הורדהו had brought him down H8033 שׁמה׃ thither.

2 H1961 ויהי was H3068 יהוה And the LORD H854 את with H3130 יוסף Joseph, H1961 ויהי and he was H582 אישׁ H6743 מצליח a prosperous H1961 ויהי and he was H1004 בבית in the house H113 אדניו of his master H4713 המצרי׃ the Egyptian.

3 H7200 וירא saw H113 אדניו And his master H3588 כי that H3068 יהוה the LORD H854 אתו with H3605 וכל made all H834 אשׁר that H1931 הוא he H6213 עשׂה did H3068 יהוה him, and that the LORD H6743 מצליח to prosper H3027 בידו׃ in his hand.

4 H4672 וימצא found H3130 יוסף And Joseph H2580 חן grace H5869 בעיניו in his sight, H8334 וישׁרת and he served H853 אתו H6485 ויפקדהו him: and he made him overseer H5921 על over H1004 ביתו his house, H3605 וכל and all H3426 ישׁ he had H5414 לו נתן he put H3027 בידו׃ into his hand.

5 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass H227 מאז from the time H6485 הפקיד H853 אתו H1004 בביתו in his house, H5921 ועל and over H3605 כל all H834 אשׁר that H3426 ישׁ he had, H1288 לו ויברך blessed H3068 יהוה that the LORD H853 את H1004 בית house H4713 המצרי the Egyptian's H1558 בגלל H3130 יוסף H1961 ויהי was H1293 ברכת and the blessing H3068 יהוה of the LORD H3605 בכל upon all H834 אשׁר that H3426 ישׁ he had H1004 לו בבית in the house, H7704 ובשׂדה׃ and in the field.

6 H5800 ויעזב And he left H3605 כל all H834 אשׁר that H3027 לו ביד hand; H3130 יוסף he had in Joseph's H3808 ולא not H3045 ידע and he knew H854 אתו he had, H3972 מאומה aught H3588 כי save H518 אם save H3899 הלחם the bread H834 אשׁר which H1931 הוא he H398 אוכל did eat. H1961 ויהי was H3130 יוסף And Joseph H3303 יפה goodly H8389 תאר goodly H3303 ויפה and well H4758 מראה׃ favored.

7 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass H310 אחר after H1697 הדברים things, H428 האלה these H5375 ותשׂא cast H802 אשׁת wife H113 אדניו that his master's H853 את H5869 עיניה her eyes H413 אל upon H3130 יוסף Joseph; H559 ותאמר and she said, H7901 שׁכבה Lie H5973 עמי׃ with

8 H3985 וימאן But he refused, H559 ויאמר and said H413 אל unto H802 אשׁת wife, H113 אדניו his master's H2005 הן Behold, H113 אדני my master H3808 לא not H3045 ידע knoweth H854 אתי with H4100 מה what H1004 בבית me in the house, H3605 וכל all H834 אשׁר that H3426 ישׁ he hath H5414 לו נתן and he hath committed H3027 בידי׃ to my hand;

9 H369 איננו none H1419 גדול greater H1004 בבית house H2088 הזה in this H4480 ממני than H3808 ולא I; neither H2820 חשׂך hath he kept back H4480 ממני from H3972 מאומה any thing H3588 כי me but H518 אם me but H853 אותך H834 באשׁר thee, because H859 את thou H802 אשׁתו his wife: H349 ואיך how H6213 אעשׂה then can I do H7451 הרעה wickedness, H1419 הגדלה great H2063 הזאת this H2398 וחטאתי and sin H430 לאלהים׃ against God?

10 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H1696 כדברה as she spoke H413 אל to H3130 יוסף Joseph H3117 יום day H3117 יום by day, H3808 ולא not H8085 שׁמע that he hearkened H413 אליה unto H7901 לשׁכב her, to lie H681 אצלה by H1961 להיות her, to be H5973 עמה׃ with

11 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass H3117 כהיום time, H2088 הזה about this H935 ויבא that went H1004 הביתה into the house H6213 לעשׂות to do H4399 מלאכתו his business; H369 ואין and none H376 אישׁ and none H376 מאנשׁי of the men H1004 הבית of the house H8033 שׁם there H1004 בבית׃ within.

12 H8610 ותתפשׂהו And she caught H899 בבגדו him by his garment, H559 לאמר saying, H7901 שׁכבה Lie H5973 עמי with H5800 ויעזב me: and he left H899 בגדו his garment H3027 בידה in her hand, H5127 וינס and fled, H3318 ויצא and got H2351 החוצה׃ him out.

13 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H7200 כראותה when she saw H3588 כי that H5800 עזב he had left H899 בגדו his garment H3027 בידה in her hand, H5127 וינס and was fled H2351 החוצה׃ forth,

14 H7121 ותקרא That she called H376 לאנשׁי unto the men H1004 ביתה of her house, H559 ותאמר and spoke H559 להם לאמר unto them, saying, H7200 ראו See, H935 הביא he hath brought in H376 לנו אישׁ H5680 עברי H6711 לצחק unto us to mock H935 בנו בא us; he came in H413 אלי unto H7901 לשׁכב me to lie H5973 עמי with H7121 ואקרא me, and I cried H6963 בקול voice: H1419 גדול׃ with a loud

15 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H8085 כשׁמעו when he heard H3588 כי that H7311 הרימתי I lifted up H6963 קולי my voice H7121 ואקרא and cried, H5800 ויעזב that he left H899 בגדו his garment H681 אצלי with H5127 וינס me, and fled, H3318 ויצא and got H2351 החוצה׃ him out.

16 H3240 ותנח H899 בגדו his garment H681 אצלה by H5704 עד her, until H935 בוא came H113 אדניו his lord H413 אל came H1004 ביתו׃ home.

17 H1696 ותדבר And she spoke H413 אליו unto H1697 כדברים words, H428 האלה him according to these H559 לאמר saying, H935 בא thou hast brought H413 אלי unto H5650 העבד servant, H5680 העברי The Hebrew H834 אשׁר which H935 הבאת unto us, came in H6711 לנו לצחק׃ me to mock

18 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H7311 כהרימי as I lifted up H6963 קולי my voice H7121 ואקרא and cried, H5800 ויעזב that he left H899 בגדו his garment H681 אצלי with H5127 וינס me, and fled H2351 החוצה׃ out.

19 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H8085 כשׁמע heard H113 אדניו when his master H853 את H1697 דברי the words H802 אשׁתו of his wife, H834 אשׁר which H1696 דברה she spoke H413 אליו unto H559 לאמר him, saying, H1697 כדברים manner H428 האלה After this H6213 עשׂה did H5650 לי עבדך thy servant H2734 ויחר was kindled. H639 אפו׃ to me; that his wrath

20 H3947 ויקח took H113 אדני master H3130 יוסף And Joseph's H853 אתו H5414 ויתנהו him, and put H413 אל him into H1004 בית the prison, H5470 הסהר the prison, H4725 מקום a place H834 אשׁר where H631 אסורי bound: H4428 המלך the king's H631 אסורים H1961 ויהי and he was H8033 שׁם there H1004 בבית in the prison. H5470 הסהר׃ in the prison.

21 H1961 ויהי was H3068 יהוה But the LORD H854 את with H3130 יוסף Joseph, H5186 ויט and showed H413 אליו and showed H2617 חסד him mercy, H5414 ויתן and gave H2580 חנו him favor H5869 בעיני in the sight H8269 שׂר of the keeper H1004 בית of the prison. H5470 הסהר׃ of the prison.

22 H5414 ויתן committed H8269 שׂר And the keeper H1004 בית of the prison H5470 הסהר of the prison H3027 ביד hand H3130 יוסף to Joseph's H853 את H3605 כל all H615 האסירם the prisoners H834 אשׁר that H1004 בבית in the prison; H5470 הסהר in the prison; H853 ואת H3605 כל and whatsoever H834 אשׁר and whatsoever H6213 עשׂים they did H8033 שׁם there, H1931 הוא he H1961 היה was H6213 עשׂה׃ the doer

23 H369 אין not H8269 שׂר The keeper H1004 בית of the prison H5470 הסהר of the prison H7200 ראה looked H853 את H3605 כל to any thing H3972 מאומה to any thing H3027 בידו under his hand; H834 באשׁר because H3068 יהוה the LORD H854 אתו was with H834 ואשׁר him, and which H1931 הוא he H6213 עשׂה did, H3068 יהוה the LORD H6743 מצליח׃ made to prosper.
