2 Samuel 24:2-4 ויאמר said המלך For the king אל to יואב Joab שׂר the captain החיל of the host, אשׁר which אתו with שׁוט him, Go נא now בכל through all שׁבטי the tribes ישׂראל of Israel, מדן ועד even to באר שׁבע Beer-sheba, ופקדו and number את העם ye the people, וידעתי that I may know את מספר the number העם׃ of the people.

3 H559 ויאמר said H3097 יואב And Joab H413 אל unto H4428 המלך the king, H3254 ויוסף add H3068 יהוה Now the LORD H430 אלהיך thy God H413 אל unto H5971 העם the people, H1992 כהם how many soever they be H1992 וכהם how many soever they be H3967 מאה a hundredfold, H6471 פעמים a hundredfold, H5869 ועיני and that the eyes H113 אדני of my lord H4428 המלך the king H7200 ראות may see H113 ואדני doth my lord H4428 המלך the king H4100 למה but why H2654 חפץ delight H1697 בדבר thing? H2088 הזה׃ in this

4 H2388 ויחזק prevailed H1697 דבר word H4428 המלך Notwithstanding the king's H413 אל against H3097 יואב Joab, H5921 ועל and against H8269 שׂרי the captains H2428 החיל of the host. H3318 ויצא went out H3097 יואב And Joab H8269 ושׂרי and the captains H2428 החיל of the host H6440 לפני from the presence H4428 המלך of the king, H6485 לפקד to number H853 את H5971 העם the people H853 את H3478 ישׂראל׃ of Israel.
