1 Samuel 1:2-6 ולו שׁתי And he had two נשׁים wives; שׁם the name אחת of the one חנה Hannah, ושׁם and the name השׁנית of the other פננה Peninnah: ויהי had לפננה and Peninnah ילדים children, ולחנה but Hannah אין had no ילדים׃ children.

3 H5927 ועלה went up H376 האישׁ man H1931 ההוא And this H5892 מעירו out of his city H3117 מימים H3117 ימימה H7812 להשׁתחות to worship H2076 ולזבח and to sacrifice H3068 ליהוה unto the LORD H6635 צבאות of hosts H7887 בשׁלה in Shiloh. H8033 ושׁם there. H8147 שׁני And the two H1121 בני sons H5941 עלי of Eli, H2652 חפני Hophni H6372 ופנחס and Phinehas, H3548 כהנים the priests H3068 ליהוה׃ of the LORD,

4 H1961 ויהי was H3117 היום And when the time H2076 ויזבח offered, H511 אלקנה that Elkanah H5414 ונתן he gave H6444 לפננה to Peninnah H802 אשׁתו his wife, H3605 ולכל and to all H1121 בניה her sons H1323 ובנותיה and her daughters, H4490 מנות׃ portions:

5 H2584 ולחנה But unto Hannah H5414 יתן he gave H4490 מנה portion; H259 אחת a H639 אפים worthy H3588 כי for H853 את H2584 חנה Hannah: H157 אהב he loved H3068 ויהוה but the LORD H5462 סגר had shut up H7358 רחמה׃ her womb.

6 H3707 וכעסתה provoked H6869 צרתה And her adversary H1571 גם also H3708 כעס her sore, H5668 בעבור for to H7481 הרעמה make her fret, H3588 כי because H5462 סגר had shut up H3068 יהוה the LORD H1157 בעד had shut up H7358 רחמה׃ her womb.
