And they chose Steuen a man full of faith and of the holy ghost, and Philip, and Procorus, and Nichanor, and Timon, and Permenas, and Nicolas a conuert of Antioche. ⁶ These they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they layde theyr handes on them. ⁷ And the word of God encreased, and the nomber of the disciples multiplyed in Ierusalem greatly, and a greate companye of the prestes were obedient to the fayth. ⁸ And Steuen, full of fayth and power, dyd great wondres and miracles amonge the people. ⁹ Then ther arose certen of the Synagoges, which is called the Synagoge of the Libertynes and Sirenytes, and of Alexandria, and of Celicia, and of Asia, disputynge with Steuen.
