EJ2000⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Blessed be the LORD my strength, who trains my hands for the battle and my fingers for the war: ² My mercy and my fortress; my high tower and my deliverer; my shield and he in whom I trust, who subdues my people under me. ³ LORD, what is man that thou knowest him? or the son of man, that thou esteemeth him? ⁴ Man is like unto vanity; his days are as a shadow that passes away. ⁵ Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. ⁶ Cast forth lightning and scatter them; shoot out thine arrows and destroy them. ⁷ Send thine hand from above; redeem me and deliver me out of many waters, from the hand of the strange sons, ⁸ whose mouth speaks vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood. ⁹ ¶ I will sing a new song unto thee, O God; upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings I will sing praises unto thee. ¹⁰ Thou, he who gives salvation unto kings, who redeems David his slave from the evil sword. ¹¹ Redeem me, and save me from the hand of strange sons, whose mouth speaks vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood: ¹² That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace; ¹³ that our garners may be full, affording all manner of store; that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets; ¹⁴ that our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in nor going out; that there be no shout of alarm in our streets. ¹⁵ Blessed is that people, that is in such a case; yea, blessed is that people, whose God is the LORD. ¹⁴⁵ ¹ David’s Psalm of praise. ¶ Aleph I will extol thee, my God, my king, and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. ² Beth Each day will I bless thee, and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. ³ Gimel Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. ⁴ Daleth One generation shall praise thy works to another and shall declare thy mighty acts. ⁵ He I will speak of the beauty of the glory of thy majesty and of thy wondrous works. ⁶ Vau And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts, and I will declare thy greatness. ⁷ Zain They shall proclaim the memory of thy great goodness and shall sing of thy righteousness. ⁸ Cheth The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and of great mercy. ⁹ Teth The LORD is good to all; and his tender mercies shine over all his works. ¹⁰ ¶ Jod Let all thy works praise thee, O LORD, and thy merciful ones bless thee. ¹¹ Caph They speak of the glory of thy kingdom and talk of thy power, ¹² Lamed to make known to the sons of Adam his mighty acts and the glory of the magnificence of his kingdom. ¹³ Mem Thy kingdom is a kingdom of all ages, and thy dominion endures throughout all generations. ¹⁴ Samech The LORD upholds all that fall and raises up all those that are oppressed. ¹⁵ Ain The eyes of all wait upon thee, and thou givest them their food in due season. ¹⁶ Pe Thou dost open thine hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. ¹⁷ Tzaddi The LORD is righteous in all his ways and merciful in all his works. ¹⁸ Koph The LORD is near unto all those that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. ¹⁹ Resh He will fulfil the desire of those that fear him; he also will hear their cry and will save them. ²⁰ Schin The LORD preserves all those that love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. ²¹ Tau My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD, and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever. ¹⁴⁶ ¹ ¶ Halelu-JAH. Praise the LORD, O my soul. ² In my life I will praise the LORD; I will sing praises unto my God while I live. ³ Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man in whom there is no salvation. ⁴ His spirit shall go forth, he shall return to his earth; in that very day all his thoughts shall perish. ⁵ ¶ Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God; ⁶ who made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is therein; who keeps truth for ever: ⁷ He who does justice unto the oppressed; who gives bread to the hungry. The LORD looses the prisoners: ⁸ The LORD opens the eyes of the blind; the LORD raises those that are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous: ⁹ The LORD preserves the strangers; he raises up the fatherless and widow; but the way of the wicked he turns upside down. ¹⁰ The LORD shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, from generation to generation. Halelu-JAH. ¹⁴⁷ ¹ ¶ Halelu-JAH: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for praise is pleasant and beautiful. ² The LORD, he who builds up Jerusalem; shall gather together the outcasts of Israel. ³ He heals the broken hearted, and he binds up their wounds. ⁴ He counts the number of the stars and calls them all by their names. ⁵ Great is our Lord and of great power; his intelligence is infinite. ⁶ The LORD lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked down to the earth. ⁷ Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God: ⁸ Who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares the rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow upon the mountains. ⁹ He who gives the beast his food and to the sons of the ravens which cry unto him. ¹⁰ He does not delight in the strength of the horse; nor does he take pleasure in the legs of a man. ¹¹ The LORD takes pleasure in those that fear him, in those that wait upon his mercy. ¹² ¶ Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion. ¹³ For he has strengthened the bars of thy gates; he has blessed thy sons within thee. ¹⁴ He who makes peace to be thy borders shall fill thee with the finest of the wheat. ¹⁵ He sends forth his word upon earth; his word runs very swiftly. ¹⁶ He who gives snow like wool scatters the hoarfrost like ashes. ¹⁷ He casts forth his ice like morsels; who can stand before his cold? ¹⁸ He shall send forth his word and melt them; his wind shall blow, and the waters shall flow. ¹⁹ He declares his words unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. ²⁰ He has not dealt so with the other nations, which have not known his judgments. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens; praise him in the heights. ² Praise ye him, all his angels; praise ye him, all his hosts. ³ Praise ye him, sun and moon; praise him, all ye stars of light. ⁴ Praise him, ye heavens of heavens and ye waters that are above the heavens. ⁵ Let them praise the name of the LORD; for he commanded, and they were created. ⁶ He has established them for ever and ever: he has made a law which shall not be broken. ⁷ ¶ Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons and all deeps, ⁸ fire and hail; snow and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling his word, ⁹ mountains and all hills; fruitful trees and all cedars, ¹⁰ beasts and all animals; creeping things and flying fowl, ¹¹ kings of the earth and all the peoples, princes and all judges of the earth, ¹² both young men and maidens, the old with the children, ¹³ Let them praise the name of the LORD; for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above earth and heavens. ¹⁴ He has exalted the horn of his people; let all his merciful ones praise him; even of the sons of Israel, the people near unto him. Sing unto the LORD a new song, let his praise be in the congregation of the merciful. ² Let Israel rejoice with his Maker; let the sons of Zion be joyful with their King. ³ Let them praise his name in the dance; let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. ⁴ For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he will beautify the humble with saving health. ⁵ The merciful shall be joyful with glory; they shall sing aloud upon their beds. ⁶ ¶ The high praises of God shall be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand, ⁷ to execute vengeance upon the Gentiles and punishments upon the peoples, ⁸ to imprison their kings with fetters and their nobles with chains of iron, ⁹ to execute upon them the judgment written: this shall be glory for all his merciful ones. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in the firmament of his power. ² Praise him for his mighty acts; praise him according to his excellent greatness. ³ Praise him with the sound of the shofar; praise him with the psaltery and harp. ⁴ Praise him with the timbrel and dance; praise him with stringed instruments and organs. ⁵ Praise him upon the loud cymbals; praise him upon the cymbals of joy. ⁶ Let every thing that has breath praise JAH.
