4 These are the generations of creating the heavens and of the earth in the day Yah Veh Elohim worked the earth and the heavens;
5 and no shrub of the field is yet in the earth and no herb of the field sprouts: for Yah Veh Elohim had not yet rained on the earth and with no Adam to serve the soil.
6 And a mist ascends from the earth and moistens the whole face of the soil:
7 and Yah Veh Elohim forms Adam of the dust of the soil and puffs into his nostrils the breath of life; and Adam becomes a living soul.
THE GARDEN OF EDEN
8 And Yah Veh Elohim plants a garden eastward in Eden; and there he puts Adam whom he formed: 9 and from the soil Yah Veh Elohim sprouts every tree desirable in visage and good for food; and the tree of life midst the garden with the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
FOUR RIVERS
10 And a river goes from Eden to moisten the garden; and separates from there and becomes four heads. 11 The name of the first, Pishon: surrounding the land of Havilah where there is gold; 12 and the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. 13 And the name of the second river, Gichon: surrounding the land of Kush. 14 And the name of the third river, Hiddeqel: going east of Ashshur. And the fourth river, Euphrates. 15 And Yah Veh Elohim takes Adam and puts him into the garden of Eden to serve it and to guard it: 16 and Yah Veh Elohim misvahs Adam, saying, Of every tree of the garden, in eating, eat: 17 and of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, eat not: for in the day you eat thereof, in dying, you die. 18 And Yah Veh Elohim says, Not good - Adam being alone; I work a helper for him. 19 And from the soil Yah Veh Elohim forms every live being of the field and every flyer of the heavens; and brings to Adam to see what he calls them: and whatever Adam calls every living soul, is its name. 20 And Adam calls names to all animals and to the flyers of the heavens and to every live being of the field; but for Adam, no helper is found for him.
WOMAN
21 And Yah Veh Elohim fells a sound sleep on Adam; and he sleeps: and he takes one of his ribs and shuts the flesh underneath; 22 and from the rib Yah Veh Elohim takes from Adam, he builds a woman and brings her to Adam. 23 And Adam says, This is at this time bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh: call this, Woman - for she is taken from Man. 24 Thus a man leaves his father and his mother and adheres to his woman - being one flesh. 25 And the two are naked - Adam and his woman, and they shame not.
FALL OF HUMANITY
3 1 Now the serpent being more subtil than any live being of the field Yah Veh Elohim worked, he says to the woman, Has Elohim truly said, Eat not of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman says to the serpent, We eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 and of the fruit of the tree midst the garden, Elohim says, Neither eat thereof, nor touch, lest you die. 4 And the serpent says to the woman, In dying, you die not: 5 for Elohim knows that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes open and you, being as Elohim, know good and evil. 6 And the woman sees the tree is good for food and desirable to the eyes and a tree to desire to comprehend; and she takes of the fruit thereof and eats; and also gives to her man with her; and he eats. 7 And the eyes of the two open and they know they are naked; and they sew fig leaves together and work themselves girdles. 8 And they hear the voice of Yah Veh Elohim walking in the garden in the wind of the day: and Adam and his woman hide themselves from the face of Yah Veh Elohim among the trees of the garden. 9 And Yah Veh Elohim calls to Adam and says to him, Where are you? 10 And he says, I hear your voice in the garden; and I awe because I am naked; and I hide myself. 11 And he says, Who told you you are naked? Ate you of the tree whereof I misvahed you to not eat? 12 And Adam says, The woman you gave me, she gave me of the tree and I ate. 13 And Yah Veh Elohim says to the woman, What is this you worked? And the woman says, The serpent deceived me and I ate. 14 And Yah Veh Elohim says to the serpent, Because you worked this, you are cursed above all animals and above every live being of the field; on your belly you go and eat dust all the days of your life: 15 and I put enmity between you and between the woman and between your seed and between her seed; he crushes your head and you crush his heel. 16 To the woman he says, In abounding, I abound your contortion and your conception; in contortion, birth your sons; and your desire is to your man and he reigns over you. 17 And to Adam he says, Because you hearkened to the voice of your woman and ate of the tree, of which I misvahed you, saying, Eat not thereof; cursed is the soil for your sake: in contortion, eat thereof all the days of your life; 18 and it sprouts thorns and thistles to you; and eat the herb of the field: 19 in the sweat of your nostrils, eat your bread, until you return to the soil; for thereof you were taken: for dust you are and to dust you return. 20 And Adam calls the name of his woman Havvah; because she is the mother of all living. 21 And Yah Veh Elohim works coats of skins for Adam and to his woman and enrobes them. 22 And Yah Veh Elohim says, Behold, Adam being as one of us, knows good and evil: and now, lest he spread his hand and also take of the tree of life and eat and live eternally - 23 Yah Veh Elohim sends him from the garden of Eden to serve the soil whence he was taken; 24 so he expels Adam: and at the east of the garden of Eden he tabernacles Cherubim and the flame of the sword turns to guard the way of the tree of life.
