2 Samuel 1

DAVID HEARS OF THE DEATH OF SHAUL
And so be it, after the death of Shaul, David returns from the smiting of the Amaleqiy and David settles two days in Siqlag: 2 and so be it, on the third day, behold, a man comes from the camp of Shaul with his clothes ripped and soil on his head: and so be it, he comes to David and falls to the earth and prostrates. 3 And David says to him, Whence come you? And he says to him, I escape from the camp of Yisra El. 4 And David says to him, How goes the word? I beseech you, tell me. And he says, The people flee the war and also an abundance of the people fall and die; and Shaul and Yah Nathan his son also die. 5 And David says to the lad who tells him, How know you that Shaul and Yah Nathan his son die? 6 And the young man tells him saying, In meeting, as I meet on mount Gilboa, behold, Shaul leans on his spear; and behold, the chariots and masters of the cavalry adhere after him. 7 And he faces behind him and he sees me and calls to me. And I say, Here - I. 8 And he says to me, Who are you? And I say to him, I am an Amaleqiy. 9 And he says to me, Stand, I beseech you, over me and slay me: for my embroidered mail possesses me, because my soul is yet whole in me. 10 - and I stand over him and deathify him, because I know he lives not after he falls: and I take the separatism on his head and the anklet on his arm and bring them here to my adoni. 11 And David holds his clothes and rips them; and also all the men with him: 12 and they chop and weep and fast until evening for Shaul and for Yah Nathan his son and for the people of Yah Veh and for the house of Yisra El; because they fall by the sword. 13 And David says to the young man who tells him, Whence are you? And he says, I am the son of a man - a sojourner - an Amaleqiy. 14 And David says to him, How is it you awed not to send your hand to ruin the anointed of Yah Veh? 15 And David calls one of the lads and says, Go near, encounter on him. - and he smites him so that he dies. 16 And David says to him, Your blood is on your head; for your mouth answers against you, saying, I deathified the anointed of Yah Veh. 17
THE LAMENTATION OF DAVID
And David laments this lamentation over Shaul and over Yah Nathan his son: 18 and he says to teach the sons of Yah Hudah the bow: Behold, it is inscribed in the scroll of the straight: Apocalypse 20:12 19 The splendor of Yisra El is pierced on your bamahs: how the mighty fall! 20 Neither tell in Gath, nor evangelize in the outskirts of Ashqelon; lest the daughters of the Peleshethiy cheer, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised jump for joy. 21 You mountains of Gilboa, - neither dew nor rain be on you nor fields of exaltments: for there the buckler of the mighty loaths - the buckler of Shaul as not anointed with oil. 22 From the blood of the pierced from the fat of the mighty neither the bow of Yah Nathan retreats nor the sword of Shaul returns empty. 23 Shaul and Yah Nathan - lovely and pleasant in their lives and in their death they separate not: - swifter than eagles, they prevail mightily over lions. 24 You daughters of Yisra El, weep over Shaul, who enrobes you in scarlet with pleasures; who ascends ornaments of gold on your robe. 25 How the mighty fall midst the war! O Yah Nathan, you - pierced in your bamahs. 26 I distress for you, my brother Yah Nathan: mighty pleasing are you to me: marvellous your love to me surpassing the love of women. 27 How the mighty fall and the instruments of war destruct!
