Jeremiah 34:1-35:19

  1 H1697 The word H3414 which came unto Jeremiah H3068 from the Lord, H5019 when Nebuchadnezzar H4428 king H894 of Babylon, H2428 and all his army, H4467 and all the kingdoms H776 of the earth H3027 of his dominion, H5971 and all the people, H3898 fought H3389 against Jerusalem, H5892 and against all the cities H559 there, saying,
  2 H559 Thus says H3068 the Lord, H430 the God H3478 of Israel; H1980 Go H559 and speak H6667 to Zedekiah H4428 king H3063 of Judah, H559 and tell H559 him, Thus says H3068 the Lord; H5414 Behold, I will give H5892 this city H3027 into the hand H4428 of the king H894 of Babylon, H8313 and he shall burn H784 it with fire:
  3 H4422 And you shall not escape out H3027 of his hand, H8610 but shall surely H8610 be taken, H5414 and delivered H3027 into his hand; H5869 and your eyes H7200 shall behold H5869 the eyes H4428 of the king H894 of Babylon, H1696 and he shall speak H6310 with you mouth H6310 to mouth, H935 and you shall go H894 to Babylon.
  4 H8085 Yet hear H1697 the word H3068 of the Lord, H6667 O Zedekiah H4428 king H3063 of Judah; H559 Thus says H3068 the Lord H4191 of you, You shall not die H2719 by the sword:
  5 H4191 But you shall die H7965 in peace: H4955 and with the burnings H1 of your fathers, H7223 the former H4428 kings H6440 which were before H8313 you, so shall they burn H5594 odors for you; and they will lament H1945 you, saying, Ah H113 lord! H1696 for I have pronounced H1697 the word, H5002 says H3068 the Lord.
  6 H3414 Then Jeremiah H5030 the prophet H1696 spoke H1697 all these words H6667 unto Zedekiah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H3389 in Jerusalem,
  7 H4428 When the king H894 of Babylon's H2428 army H3898 fought H3389 against Jerusalem, H5892 and against all the cities H3063 of Judah H3498 that were left, H3923 against Lachish, H5825 and against Azekah: H4013 for these fortified H5892 cities H7604 remained H5892 of the cities H3063 of Judah.
  8 H1697 This is the word H3414 that came unto Jeremiah H3068 from the Lord, H310 after H4428 that the king H6667 Zedekiah H3772 had made H1285 a covenant H5971 with all the people H3389 which were at Jerusalem, H7121 to proclaim H1865 liberty unto them;
  9 H376 That every man H5650 should let his manservant, H376 and every man H8198 his maidservant, H5680 being a Hebrew H5680 or a Hebrewess, H7971 go H2670 free; H5647 that none should serve H3064 himself of them, to know, of a Jew H251 his brother.
  10 H8269 Now when all the princes, H5971 and all the people, H935 which had entered H1285 into the covenant, H8085 heard H376 that every one H5650 should let his manservant, H376 and every one H8198 his maidservant, H7971 go H2670 free, H5647 that none should serve H8085 themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, H7971 and let them go.
  11 H310 But afterward H7725 they turned, H5650 and caused the servants H8198 and the handmaids, H7971 whom they had let go H2670 free, H7725 to return, H3533 and brought them into subjection H5650 for servants H8198 and for handmaids.
  12 H1697 Therefore the word H3068 of the Lord H3414 came to Jeremiah H3068 from the Lord, H559 saying,
  13 H559 Thus says H3068 the Lord, H430 the God H3478 of Israel; H3772 I made H1285 a covenant H1 with your fathers H3117 in the day H3318 that I brought them forth H776 out of the land H4714 of Egypt, H1004 out of the house H5650 of bondmen, H559 saying,
  14 H7093 At the end H7651 of seven H8141 years H7971 let you go H376 every man H251 his brother H5680 a Hebrew, H4376 which has been sold H5647 unto you; and when he has served H8337 you six H8141 years, H7971 you shall let him go H2670 free H1 from you: but your fathers H8085 listened H5186 not unto me, neither inclined H241 their ear.
  15 H3117 And you were now H7725 turned, H6213 and had done H3477 right H5869 in my sight, H7121 in proclaiming H1865 liberty H376 every man H7453 to his neighbor; H3772 and you had made H1285 a covenant H6440 before H1004 me in the house H7121 which is called H8034 by my name:
  16 H7725 But you turned H2490 and polluted H8034 my name, H376 and caused every man H5650 his servant, H376 and every man H8198 his handmaid, H7971 whom you had set H2670 at liberty H5315 at their pleasure, H7725 to return, H3533 and brought them into subjection, H5650 to be unto you for servants H8198 and for handmaids.
  17 H559 Therefore thus says H3068 the Lord; H8085 You have not listened H7121 unto me, in proclaiming H1865 liberty, H376 every one H251 to his brother, H376 and every man H7453 to his neighbor: H7121 behold, I proclaim H1865 a liberty H5002 for you, says H3068 the Lord, H2719 to the sword, H1698 to the pestilence, H7458 and to the famine; H5414 and I will make H2189 you to be removed H4467 into all the kingdoms H776 of the earth.
  18 H5414 And I will give H582 the men H5674 that have transgressed H1285 my covenant, H6965 which have not performed H1697 the words H1285 of the covenant H3772 which they had made H6440 before H3772 me, when they cut H5695 the calf H8147 in two, H5674 and passed H1335 between the parts there,
  19 H8269 The princes H3063 of Judah, H8269 and the princes H3389 of Jerusalem, H5631 the eunuchs, H3548 and the priests, H5971 and all the people H776 of the land, H5674 which passed H1335 between the parts H5695 of the calf;
  20 H5414 I will even give H3027 them into the hand H341 of their enemies, H3027 and into the hand H1245 of them that seek H5315 their life: H5038 and their dead bodies H3978 shall be for food H5775 unto the birds H8064 of the heaven, H929 and to the animals H776 of the earth.
  21 H6667 And Zedekiah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H8269 and his princes H5414 will I give H3027 into the hand H341 of their enemies, H3027 and into the hand H1245 of them that seek H5315 their life, H3027 and into the hand H4428 of the king H894 of Babylon's H2428 army, H5927 which are gone up from you.
  22 H6680 Behold, I will command, H5002 says H3068 the Lord, H7725 and cause them to return H5892 to this city; H3898 and they shall fight H3920 against it, and take H8313 it, and burn H784 it with fire: H5414 and I will make H5892 the cities H3063 of Judah H8077 a desolation H3427 without an inhabitant.

  1 H1697 The word H3414 which came unto Jeremiah H3068 from the Lord H3117 in the days H3079 of Jehoiakim H1121 the son H2977 of Josiah H4428 king H3063 of Judah, H559 saying,
  2 H1980 Go H1004 unto the house H7397 of the Rechabites, H1696 and speak H935 unto them, and bring H1004 them into the house H3068 of the Lord, H259 into one H3957 of the chambers, H3196 and give them wine H8248 to drink.
  3 H3947 Then I took H2970 Jaazaniah H1121 the son H3414 of Jeremiah, H1121 the son H2262 of Habaziniah, H251 and his brothers, H1121 and all his sons, H1004 and the whole house H7397 of the Rechabites;
  4 H935 And I brought H1004 them into the house H3068 of the Lord, H3957 into the chamber H1121 of the sons H2605 of Hanan, H1121 the son H3012 of Igdaliah, H376 a man H430 of God, H681 which was by H3957 the chamber H8269 of the princes, H4605 which was above H3957 the chamber H4641 of Maaseiah H1121 the son H7967 of Shallum, H8104 the keeper H5592 of the door:
  5 H5414 And I set H6440 before H1121 the sons H1004 of the house H7397 of the Rechabites H1375 pots H4392 full H3196 of wine, H3563 and cups, H559 and I said H8354 unto them, Drink H3196 you wine.
  6 H559 But they said, H8354 We will drink H3196 no wine: H3122 for Jonadab H1121 the son H7394 of Rechab H1 our father H6680 commanded H559 us, saying, H8354 You shall drink H3196 no wine, H1121 neither you, nor your sons H5704 for H5769 ever:
  7 H1129 Neither shall you build H1004 house, H2232 nor sow H2233 seed, H5193 nor plant H3754 vineyard, H3117 nor have any: but all your days H3427 you shall live H168 in tents; H2421 that you may live H7227 many H3117 days H6440 in H127 the land H1481 where you be strangers.
  8 H8085 Thus have we obeyed H6963 the voice H3082 of Jonadab H1121 the son H7394 of Rechab H1 our father H6680 in all that he has commanded H8354 us, to drink H3196 no wine H3117 all our days, H802 we, our wives, H1121 our sons, H1323 nor our daughters;
  9 H1129 Nor to build H1004 houses H3427 for us to live in: H3754 neither have we vineyard, H7704 nor field, H2233 nor seed:
  10 H3427 But we have lived in H168 tents, H8085 and have obeyed, H6213 and done H3122 according to all that Jonadab H1 our father H6680 commanded us.
  11 H5019 But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar H4428 king H894 of Babylon H5927 came up H776 into the land, H559 that we said, H935 Come, H935 and let us go H3389 to Jerusalem H6440 for fear H2428 of the army H3778 of the Chaldeans, H6440 and for fear H2428 of the army H758 of the Syrians: H3427 so we live H3389 at Jerusalem.
  12 H1697 Then came the word H3068 of the Lord H3414 unto Jeremiah, H559 saying,
  13 H559 Thus says H3068 the Lord H6635 of hosts, H430 the God H3478 of Israel; H1980 Go H559 and tell H376 the men H3063 of Judah H3427 and the inhabitants H3389 of Jerusalem, H3947 Will you not receive H4148 instruction H8085 to listen H1697 to my words? H5002 says H3068 the Lord.
  14 H1697 The words H3082 of Jonadab H1121 the son H7394 of Rechab, H6680 that he commanded H1121 his sons H8354 not to drink H3196 wine, H6965 are performed; H3117 for unto this day H8354 they drink H8085 none, but obey H1 their father's H4687 commandment: H1696 nevertheless I have spoken H7925 unto you, rising early H1696 and speaking; H8085 but you listened not unto me.
  15 H7971 I have sent H5650 also unto you all my servants H5030 the prophets, H7925 rising up early H7971 and sending H559 them, saying, H7725 Return H376 you now every man H7451 from his evil H1870 way, H3190 and mend H4611 your doings, H3212 and go H310 not after H312 other H430 gods H5647 to serve H3427 them, and you shall live in H127 the land H5414 which I have given H1 to you and to your fathers: H5186 but you have not inclined H241 your ear, H8085 nor listened unto me.
  16 H1121 Because the sons H3082 of Jonadab H1121 the son H7394 of Rechab H6965 have performed H4687 the commandment H1 of their father, H6680 which he commanded H5971 them; but this people H8085 has not listened unto me:
  17 H559 Therefore thus says H3068 the Lord H430 God H6635 of hosts, H430 the God H3478 of Israel; H935 Behold, I will bring H3063 upon Judah H3427 and upon all the inhabitants H3389 of Jerusalem H7451 all the evil H1696 that I have pronounced H1696 against them: because I have spoken H8085 unto them, but they have not heard; H7121 and I have called H6030 unto them, but they have not answered.
  18 H3414 And Jeremiah H559 said H1004 unto the house H7397 of the Rechabites, H559 Thus says H3068 the Lord H6635 of hosts, H430 the God H3478 of Israel; H8085 Because you have obeyed H4687 the commandment H3082 of Jonadab H1 your father, H8104 and kept H4687 all his precepts, H6213 and done H6680 according unto all that he has commanded you:
  19 H559 Therefore thus says H3068 the Lord H6635 of hosts, H430 the God H3478 of Israel; H3122 Jonadab H1121 the son H7394 of Rechab H3772 shall not want H376 a man H5975 to stand H6440 before H3117 me for ever.
