Esther 3 After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.

2 H4428 And all the king's H5650 servants, H4428 that were in the king's H8179 gate, H3766 bowed, H7812 and reverenced H2001 Haman: H4428 for the king H6680 had so commanded H4782 concerning him. But Mordecai H3766 bowed H7812 not, nor did him reverence.

3 H4428 Then the king's H5650 servants, H4428 which were in the king's H8179 gate, H559 said H4782 unto Mordecai, H5674 Why disobey H4428 you the king's H4687 commandment?

4 H559 Now it came to pass, when they spoke H3117 daily H8085 unto him, and he listened H5046 not unto them, that they told H2001 Haman, H7200 to see H4782 whether Mordecai's H1697 matters H5975 would stand: H5046 for he had told H3064 them that he was a Jew.

5 H2001 And when Haman H7200 saw H4782 that Mordecai H3766 bowed H7812 not, nor did him reverence, H2001 then was Haman H4390 full H2534 of wrath.

6 H5869 And he thought H959 scorn H7971 to lay H3027 hands H4782 on Mordecai H5046 alone; for they had showed H5971 him the people H4782 of Mordecai: H2001 therefore Haman H1245 sought H8045 to destroy H3064 all the Jews H4438 that were throughout the whole kingdom H325 of Ahasuerus, H5971 even the people H4782 of Mordecai.

7 H7223 In the first H2320 month, H2320 that is, the month H5212 Nisan, H8147 in the twelfth H8141 year H4428 of king H325 Ahasuerus, H5307 they cast H6332 Pur, H1486 that is, the lot, H6440 before H2001 Haman H3117 from day H3117 to day, H2320 and from month H2320 to month, H8147 to the twelfth H2320 month, that is, the month H143 Adar.

8 H2001 And Haman H559 said H4428 unto king H325 Ahasuerus, H3426 There is H259 a certain H5971 people H6340 scattered abroad H6504 and dispersed H5971 among the people H4082 in all the provinces H4438 of your kingdom; H1881 and their laws H8138 are diverse H5971 from all people; H6213 neither keep H4428 they the king's H1881 laws: H4428 therefore it is not for the king's H7737 profit H3240 to allow them.

10 H4428 And the king H5493 took H2885 his ring H3027 from his hand, H5414 and gave H2001 it unto Haman H1121 the son H4099 of Hammedatha H91 the Agagite, H3064 the Jews' H6887 enemy.

11 H4428 And the king H559 said H2001 unto Haman, H3701 The silver H5414 is given H5971 to you, the people H6213 also, to do H5869 with them as it seems H2896 good to you.

12 H4428 Then were the king's H5608 scribes H7121 called H7969 on the thirteenth H3117 day H7223 of the first H2320 month, H3789 and there was written H2001 according to all that Haman H6680 had commanded H4428 unto the king's H323 lieutenants, H6346 and to the governors H4082 that were over every province, H8269 and to the rulers H5971 of every people H4082 of every province H3791 according to the writing H5971 there, and to every people H3956 after their language; H8034 in the name H4428 of king H325 Ahasuerus H3789 was it written, H2856 and sealed H4428 with the king's H2885 ring.

13 H5612 And the letters H7971 were sent H3027 by H7323 posts H4428 into all the king's H4082 provinces, H8045 to destroy, H2026 to kill, H6 and to cause to perish, H3064 all Jews, H5288 both young H2205 and old, H2945 little sons H802 and women, H259 in one H3117 day, H7969 even upon the thirteenth H8147 day of the twelfth H2320 month, H2320 which is the month H143 Adar, H7998 and to take the plunder H962 of them for a prey.

14 H6572 The copy H3791 of the writing H1881 for a commandment H5414 to be given H4082 in every province H1540 was published H5971 unto all people, H6264 that they should be ready H3117 against that day.

15 H7323 The posts H3318 went out, H1765 being hurried H4428 by the king's H1697 commandment, H1881 and the decree H5414 was given H7800 in Shushan H1002 the palace. H4428 And the king H2001 and Haman H3427 sat down H8354 to drink; H5892 but the city H7800 Shushan H943 was perplexed.
