34 Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) Φαρισαῖοι (the Pharisees), ἀκούσαντες (having heard) ὅτι (that) ἐφίμωσεν (He had silenced) τοὺς (the) Σαδδουκαίους (Sadducees), συνήχθησαν (were gathered) ἐπὶ (together) τὸ (the) αὐτό (same).
35 καὶ (And) ἐπηρώτησεν (questioned Him) εἷς (one) ἐξ (of) αὐτῶν (them), νομικὸς (a lawyer), πειράζων (testing) αὐτόν (Him),
36 “Διδάσκαλε (Teacher), ποία (which) ἐντολὴ (commandment) μεγάλη (is the greatest) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) νόμῳ (law)?”
37 Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) ἔφη (He said) αὐτῷ (to him), “‘Ἀγαπήσεις (You shall love) κύριον (the Lord) τὸν (the) Θεόν (God) σου (of you) ἐν (with) ὅλῃ (all) τῇ (the) καρδίᾳ (heart) σου (of you), καὶ (and) ἐν (with) ὅλῃ (all) τῇ (the) ψυχῇ (soul) σου (of you), καὶ (and) ἐν (with) ὅλῃ (all) τῇ (the) διανοίᾳ (mind) σου (of you).’
38 αὕτη (This) ἐστὶν (is) ἡ (the) μεγάλη (great) καὶ (and) πρώτη (first) ἐντολή (commandment).
39 δευτέρα (The second) ‹δὲ› (also) ὁμοία (is like) αὐτῇ (it): ‘Ἀγαπήσεις (You shall love) τὸν (the) πλησίον (neighbor) σου (of you) ὡς (as) σεαυτόν (yourself).’
40 ἐν (On) ταύταις (these) ταῖς (-) δυσὶν (two) ἐντολαῖς (commandments), ὅλος (all) ὁ (the) νόμος (law) κρέμαται (hangs) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) προφῆται (Prophets).”
41 Συνηγμένων (Having been assembled together) δὲ (now) τῶν (the) Φαρισαίων (Pharisees), ἐπηρώτησεν (questioned) αὐτοὺς (them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus),
42 λέγων (saying), “Τί (What) ὑμῖν (you) δοκεῖ (think) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) Χριστοῦ (Christ)? τίνος (Of whom) υἱός (son) ἐστιν (is He)?” Λέγουσιν (They say) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Τοῦ (-) Δαυίδ (Of David).”
43 Λέγει (He says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Πῶς (How) οὖν (then), Δαυὶδ (David) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (spirit) καλεῖ (does call) αὐτὸν (Him) Κύριον (Lord), λέγων (saying):
44 ‘Εἶπεν (Said) Κύριος (the Lord) τῷ (to the) Κυρίῳ (Lord) μου (of me), “Κάθου (Sit) ἐκ (on) δεξιῶν (the right hand) μου (of Me), Ἕως (until) ἂν (-) θῶ (I place) τοὺς (the) ἐχθρούς (enemies) σου (of You) Ὑποκάτω (as a footstool) τῶν (for the) ποδῶν (feet) σου (of You).”’
45 Εἰ (If) οὖν (therefore) Δαυὶδ (David) καλεῖ (calls) αὐτὸν (Him) Κύριον (Lord), πῶς (how) υἱὸς (son) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐστιν (is He)?”
46 Καὶ (And) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐδύνατο (was able) ἀποκριθῆναι (to answer) αὐτῷ (Him) λόγον (a word), οὐδὲ (nor) ἐτόλμησέν (dared) τις (anyone) ἀπ’ (from) ἐκείνης (that) τῆς (-) ἡμέρας (day) ἐπερωτῆσαι (to question) αὐτὸν (Him) οὐκέτι (no longer).
