Hosea 4 Hear the word of Jehovah, ye children of Israel; for Jehovah hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.

1 H8085 Hear H1697 the word H3068 of Jehovah, H1121 ye children H3478 of Israel; H3068 for Jehovah H7379 hath a controversy H3427 with the inhabitants H776 of the land, H571 because there is no truth, H2617 nor goodness, H1847 nor knowledge H430 of God H776 in the land.

2 H422 There is nought but swearing H3584 and breaking faith, H7523 and killing, H1589 and stealing, H5003 and committing adultery; H6555 they break out, H1818 and blood H5060 toucheth H1818 blood.

3 H776 Therefore shall the land H56 mourn, H3427 and every one that dwelleth H535 therein shall languish, H2416 with the beasts H7704 of the field H5775 and the birds H8064 of the heavens; H1709 yea, the fishes H3220 of the sea H622 also shall be taken away.

4 H376 Yet let no man H7378 strive, H3198 neither let any man reprove; H376 H5971 for thy people H7378 are as they that strive H3548 with the priest.

5 H3782 And thou shalt stumble H3117 in the day, H5030 and the prophet H3782 also shall stumble H3915 with thee in the night; H1820 and I will destroy H517 thy mother.

6 H5971 My people H1820 are destroyed H1847 for lack of knowledge: H3988 because thou hast rejected H1847 knowledge, H3988 I will also reject H3547 thee, that thou shalt be no priest H7911 to me: seeing thou hast forgotten H8451 the law H430 of thy God, H7911 I also will forget H1121 thy children.

7 H7230 As they were multiplied, H2398 so they sinned H4171 against me: I will change H3519 their glory H7036 into shame.

8 H398 They feed H2403 on the sin H5971 of my people, H5375 and set H5315 their heart H5771 on their iniquity.

9 H5971 And it shall be, like people, H3548 like priest; H6485 and I will punish H1870 them for their ways, H7725 and will requite H4611 them their doings.

10 H398 And they shall eat, H7646 and not have enough; H2181 they shall play the harlot, H6555 and shall not increase; H5800 because they have left off H8104 taking heed H3068 to Jehovah.

11 H2184 Whoredom H3196 and wine H8492 and new wine H3947 take away H3820 the understanding.

12 H5971 My people H7592 ask H6086 counsel at their stock, H4731 and their staff H5046 declareth H7307 unto them; for the spirit H2183 of whoredom H8582 hath caused them to err, H2181 and they have played the harlot, H430 departing from under their God.

13 H2076 They sacrifice H7218 upon the tops H2022 of the mountains, H6999 and burn incense H1389 upon the hills, H437 under oaks H3839 and poplars H424 and terebinths, H6738 because the shadow H2896 thereof is good: H1323 therefore your daughters H2181 play the harlot, H3618 and your brides H5003 commit adultery.

14 H6485 I will not punish H1323 your daughters H2181 when they play the harlot, H3618 nor your brides H5003 when they commit adultery; H6504 for the men themselves go apart H2181 with harlots, H2076 and they sacrifice H6948 with the prostitutes; H5971 and the people H995 that doth not understand H3832 shall be overthrown.

15 H3478 Though thou, Israel, H2181 play the harlot, H3063 yet let not Judah H816 offend; H935 and come H1537 not ye unto Gilgal, H5927 neither go ye up H1007 to Beth-aven, H7650 nor swear, H3068 As Jehovah H2416 liveth.

16 H3478 For Israel H5637 hath behaved himself stubbornly, H5637 like a stubborn H6510 heifer: H3068 now will Jehovah H7462 feed H3532 them as a lamb H4800 in a large place.

17 H669 Ephraim H2266 is joined H6091 to idols; H3240 let him alone.

18 H5435 Their drink H5493 is become sour; H2181 they play the harlot H2181 continually; H4043 her rulers H3051 dearly H157 love H7036 shame.

19 H7307 The wind H6887 hath wrapped her up H3671 in its wings; H954 and they shall be put to shame H2077 because of their sacrifices.
