2 Kings 19 And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of Jehovah.

2 H7971 And he sent H471 Eliakim, H1004 who was over the household, H7644 and Shebna H5608 the scribe, H2205 and the elders H3548 of the priests, H3680 covered H8242 with sackcloth, H3470 unto Isaiah H5030 the prophet H1121 the son H531 of Amoz.

3 H559 And they said H559 unto him, Thus saith H2396 Hezekiah, H3117 This day H3117 is a day H6869 of trouble, H8433 and of rebuke, H5007 and of contumely; H1121 for the children H935 are come H4866 to the birth, H3581 and there is not strength H3205 to bring forth.

4 H194 It may be H3068 Jehovah H430 thy God H8085 will hear H1697 all the words H7262 of Rabshakeh, H4428 whom the king H804 of Assyria H113 his master H7971 hath sent H2778 to defy H2416 the living H430 God, H3198 and will rebuke H1697 the words H3068 which Jehovah H430 thy God H8085 hath heard: H5375 wherefore lift up H8605 thy prayer H7611 for the remnant H4672 that is left.

5 H5650 So the servants H4428 of king H2396 Hezekiah H935 came H3470 to Isaiah.

6 H3470 And Isaiah H559 said H559 unto them, Thus shall ye say H113 to your master, H559 Thus saith H3068 Jehovah, H3372 Be not afraid H6440 of H1697 the words H8085 that thou hast heard, H5288 wherewith the servants H4428 of the king H804 of Assyria H1442 have blasphemed me.

7 H5414 Behold, I will put H7307 a spirit H8085 in him, and he shall hear H8052 tidings, H7725 and shall return H776 to his own land; H5307 and I will cause him to fall H2719 by the sword H776 in his own land.

8 H7262 So Rabshakeh H7725 returned, H4672 and found H4428 the king H804 of Assyria H3898 warring H3841 against Libnah; H8085 for he had heard H5265 that he was departed H3923 from Lachish.

9 H8085 And when he heard H559 say H8640 of Tirhakah H4428 king H3568 of Ethiopia, H3318 Behold, he is come out H3898 to fight H7971 against thee, he sent H4397 messengers H7725 again H2396 unto Hezekiah, H559 saying,

10 H559 Thus shall ye speak H2396 to Hezekiah H4428 king H3063 of Judah, H559 saying, H430 Let not thy God H982 in whom thou trustest H5377 deceive H559 thee, saying, H3389 Jerusalem H5414 shall not be given H3027 into the hand H4428 of the king H804 of Assyria.

11 H8085 Behold, thou hast heard H4428 what the kings H804 of Assyria H6213 have done H776 to all lands, H2763 by destroying them utterly: H5337 and shalt thou be delivered?

12 H430 Have the gods H1471 of the nations H5337 delivered H1 them, which my fathers H7843 have destroyed, H1470 Gozan, H2771 and Haran, H7530 and Rezeph, H1121 and the children H5729 of Eden H8515 that were in Telassar?

13 H4428 Where is the king H2574 of Hamath, H4428 and the king H774 of Arpad, H4428 and the king H5892 of the city H5617 of Sepharvaim, H2012 of Hena, H5755 and Ivvah?

14 H2396 And Hezekiah H3947 received H5612 the letter H3027 from the hand H4397 of the messengers, H7121 and read H2396 it; and Hezekiah H5927 went up H1004 unto the house H3068 of Jehovah, H6566 and spread H6440 it before H3068 Jehovah.

15 H2396 And Hezekiah H6419 prayed H6440 before H3068 Jehovah, H559 and said, H3068 O Jehovah, H430 the God H3478 of Israel, H3427 that sittest H3742 above the cherubim, H430 thou art the God, H4467 even thou alone, of all the kingdoms H776 of the earth; H6213 thou hast made H8064 heaven H776 and earth.

16 H5186 Incline H241 thine ear, H3068 O Jehovah, H8085 and hear; H6491 open H5869 thine eyes, H3068 O Jehovah, H7200 and see; H8085 and hear H1697 the words H5576 of Sennacherib, H7971 wherewith he hath sent H2778 him to defy H2416 the living H430 God.

17 H551 Of a truth, H3068 Jehovah, H4428 the kings H804 of Assyria H2717 have laid waste H1471 the nations H776 and their lands,

18 H5414 and have cast H430 their gods H784 into the fire; H430 for they were no gods, H4639 but the work H120 of men's H3027 hands, H6086 wood H68 and stone; H6 therefore they have destroyed them.

19 H3068 Now therefore, O Jehovah H430 our God, H3467 save H3027 thou us, I beseech thee, out of his hand, H4467 that all the kingdoms H776 of the earth H3045 may know H3068 that thou Jehovah H430 art God alone.

20 H3470 Then Isaiah H1121 the son H531 of Amoz H7971 sent H2396 to Hezekiah, H559 saying, H559 Thus saith H3068 Jehovah, H430 the God H3478 of Israel, H6419 Whereas thou hast prayed H5576 to me against Sennacherib H4428 king H804 of Assyria, H8085 I have heard thee.

21 H1697 This is the word H3068 that Jehovah H1696 hath spoken H1330 concerning him: The virgin H1323 daughter H6726 of Zion H959 hath despised H3932 thee and laughed thee to scorn; H1323 the daughter H3389 of Jerusalem H5128 hath shaken H7218 her head H310 at thee.

22 H2778 Whom hast thou defied H1442 and blasphemed? H7311 and against whom hast thou exalted H6963 thy voice H5375 and lifted up H5869 thine eyes H4791 on high? H6918 even against the Holy H3478 One of Israel.

23 H3027 By H4397 thy messengers H2778 thou hast defied H136 the Lord, H559 and hast said, H7230 With the multitude H7393 of my chariots H5927 am I come up H4791 to the height H2022 of the mountains, H3411 to the innermost parts H3844 of Lebanon; H3772 and I will cut down H6967 the tall H730 cedars H4004 thereof, and the choice H1265 fir-trees H935 thereof; and I will enter H7093 into his farthest H4411 lodging-place, H3293 the forest H3760 of his fruitful field.

24 H6979 I have digged H8354 and drunk H2114 strange H4325 waters, H3709 and with the sole H6471 of my feet H2717 will I dry H2975 up all the rivers H4693 of Egypt.

25 H8085 Hast thou not heard H6213 how I have done H7350 it long ago, H3335 and formed H6924 it of ancient H3117 times? H935 now have I brought H7582 it to pass, that it should be thine to lay waste H1219 fortified H5892 cities H5327 into ruinous H1530 heaps.

26 H3427 Therefore their inhabitants H7116 were of small H3027 power, H2865 they were dismayed H954 and confounded; H6212 they were as the grass H7704 of the field, H3419 and as the green H1877 herb, H2682 as the grass H1406 on the housetops, H7711 and as grain blasted H6440 before H7054 it is grown up.

27 H3045 But I know H3427 thy sitting H3318 down, and thy going out, H935 and thy coming in, H7264 and thy raging against me.

28 H7264 Because of thy raging H7600 against me, and because thine arrogancy H5927 is come up H241 into mine ears, H7760 therefore will I put H2397 my hook H639 in thy nose, H4964 and my bridle H8193 in thy lips, H7725 and I will turn thee back H1870 by the way H935 by which thou camest.

29 H226 And this shall be the sign H398 unto thee: Ye shall eat H8141 this year H5599 that which groweth H8145 of itself, and in the second H8141 year H7823 that which springeth H7992 of the same; and in the third H8141 year H2232 sow H7114 ye, and reap, H5193 and plant H3754 vineyards, H398 and eat H6529 the fruit thereof.

30 H7604 And the remnant H6413 that is escaped H1004 of the house H3063 of Judah H3254 shall again H8328 take root H4295 downward, H6213 and bear H6529 fruit H4605 upward.

31 H3318 For out H3389 of Jerusalem H3318 shall go forth H7611 a remnant, H2022 and out of mount H6726 Zion H6413 they that shall escape: H7068 the zeal H3068 of Jehovah H6213 shall perform this.

32 H559 Therefore thus saith H3068 Jehovah H4428 concerning the king H804 of Assyria, H935 He shall not come H5892 unto this city, H3384 nor shoot H2671 an arrow H6923 there, neither shall he come before H4043 it with shield, H8210 nor cast H5550 up a mound against it.

33 H1870 By the way H935 that he came, H7725 by the same shall he return, H935 and he shall not come H5892 unto this city, H5002 saith H3068 Jehovah.

34 H1598 For I will defend H5892 this city H3467 to save H5650 it, for mine own sake, and for my servant H1732 David's sake.

35 H3915 And it came to pass that night, H4397 that the angel H3068 of Jehovah H3318 went forth, H5221 and smote H4264 in the camp H804 of the Assyrians H3967 a hundred H8084 fourscore H2568 and five H505 thousand: H7925 and when men arose early H1242 in the morning, H4191 behold, these were all dead H6297 bodies.

36 H5576 So Sennacherib H4428 king H804 of Assyria H5265 departed, H3212 and went H7725 and returned, H3427 and dwelt H5210 at Nineveh.

37 H7812 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping H1004 in the house H5268 of Nisroch H430 his god, H152 that Adrammelech H8272 and Sharezer H1121 H5221 smote H2719 him with the sword: H4422 and they escaped H776 into the land H780 of Ararat. H634 And Esar-haddon H1121 his son H4427 reigned in his stead.
