2 Chronicles 28 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he did not that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, like David his father;

2 H3212 but he walked in H1870 the ways H4428 of the kings H3478 of Israel, H6213 and made H4541 also molten images H1168 for the Baalim.

3 H6999 Moreover he burnt incense H1516 in the valley H1121 of the son H2011 of Hinnom, H1197 and burnt H1121 his children H784 in the fire, H8441 according to the abominations H1471 of the nations H3068 whom Jehovah H3423 cast out H6440 before H1121 the children H3478 of Israel.

4 H2076 And he sacrificed H6999 and burnt incense H1116 in the high places, H1389 and on the hills, H7488 and under every green H6086 tree.

5 H3068 Wherefore Jehovah H430 his God H5414 delivered H3027 him into the hand H4428 of the king H758 of Syria; H5221 and they smote H7617 him, and carried away H1419 of his a great multitude H7633 of captives, H935 and brought H1834 them to Damascus. H5414 And he was also delivered H3027 into the hand H4428 of the king H3478 of Israel, H5221 who smote H1419 him with a great H4347 slaughter.

6 H6492 For Pekah H1121 the son H7425 of Remaliah H2026 slew H3063 in Judah H3967 a hundred H6242 and twenty H505 thousand H259 in one H3117 day, H2428 all of them valiant H1121 men; H5800 because they had forsaken H3068 Jehovah, H430 the God H1 of their fathers.

7 H2147 And Zichri, H1368 a mighty man H669 of Ephraim, H2026 slew H4641 Maaseiah H4428 the king's H1121 son, H5840 and Azrikam H5057 the ruler H1004 of the house, H511 and Elkanah H4932 that was next H4428 to the king.

8 H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H7617 carried away captive H251 of their brethren H3967 two hundred H505 thousand, H802 women, H1121 sons, H1323 and daughters, H962 and took also away H7227 much H7998 spoil H935 from them, and brought H7998 the spoil H8111 to Samaria.

9 H5030 But a prophet H3068 of Jehovah H8034 was there, whose name H5752 was Oded: H3318 and he went out H6440 to meet H6635 the host H935 that came H8111 to Samaria, H559 and said H3068 unto them, Behold, because Jehovah, H430 the God H1 of your fathers, H2534 was wroth H3063 with Judah, H5414 he hath delivered H3027 them into your hand, H2026 and ye have slain H2197 them in a rage H5060 which hath reached up H8064 to heaven.

10 H559 And now ye purpose H3533 to keep under H1121 the children H3063 of Judah H3389 and Jerusalem H5650 for bondmen H8198 and bondwomen H7535 unto you: but are there not even H819 with you trespasses H3068 of your own against Jehovah H430 your God?

11 H8085 Now hear H7725 me therefore, and send H7633 back the captives, H7617 that ye have taken captive H251 of your brethren; H2740 for the fierce H639 wrath H3068 of Jehovah is upon you.

12 H582 Then certain H7218 of the heads H1121 of the children H669 of Ephraim, H5838 Azariah H1121 the son H3076 of Johanan, H1296 Berechiah H1121 the son H4919 of Meshillemoth, H3169 and Jehizkiah H1121 the son H7967 of Shallum, H6021 and Amasa H1121 the son H2311 of Hadlai, H6965 stood up H935 against them that came H6635 from the war,

13 H559 and said H935 unto them, Ye shall not bring in H7633 the captives H559 hither: for ye purpose H819 that which will bring upon us a trespass H3068 against Jehovah, H3254 to add H2403 unto our sins H819 and to our trespass; H819 for our trespass H7227 is great, H7227 and there is fierce H639 wrath H3478 against Israel.

14 H2502 So the armed men H5800 left H7633 the captives H961 and the spoil H6440 before H8269 the princes H6951 and all the assembly.

15 H582 And the men H5344 that have been mentioned H8034 by name H6965 rose up, H2388 and took H7633 the captives, H7998 and with the spoil H3847 clothed H4636 all that were naked H3847 among them, and arrayed H5274 them, and shod H398 them, and gave them to eat H8248 and to drink, H5480 and anointed H5095 them, and carried H3782 all the feeble H2543 of them upon asses, H935 and brought H3405 them to Jericho, H5892 the city H8558 of palm-trees, H681 unto H251 their brethren: H7725 then they returned H8111 to Samaria.

16 H6256 At that time H4428 did king H271 Ahaz H7971 send H4428 unto the kings H804 of Assyria H5826 to help him.

17 H130 For again the Edomites H935 had come H5221 and smitten H3063 Judah, H7617 and carried away H7628 captives.

18 H6430 The Philistines H6584 also had invaded H5892 the cities H8219 of the lowland, H5045 and of the South H3063 of Judah, H3920 and had taken H1053 Beth-shemesh, H357 and Aijalon, H1450 and Gederoth, H7755 and Soco H1323 with the towns H8553 thereof, and Timnah H1323 with the towns H1579 thereof, Gimzo H1323 also and the towns H3427 thereof: and they dwelt there.

19 H3068 For Jehovah H3665 brought H3063 Judah H3665 low H271 because of Ahaz H4428 king H3478 of Israel; H6544 for he had dealt H6544 wantonly H3063 in Judah, H4603 and trespassed H4604 sore H3068 against Jehovah.

20 H8407 And Tilgath-pilneser H4428 king H804 of Assyria H935 came H6696 unto him, and distressed H2388 him, but strengthened him not.

21 H271 For Ahaz H2505 took away a portion H1004 out of the house H3068 of Jehovah, H1004 and out of the house H4428 of the king H8269 and of the princes, H5414 and gave H4428 it unto the king H804 of Assyria: H5833 but it helped him not.

22 H6256 And in the time H6887 of his distress H4603 did he trespass H3254 yet more H3068 against Jehovah, H4428 this same king H271 Ahaz.

23 H2076 For he sacrificed H430 unto the gods H1834 of Damascus, H5221 which smote H559 him; and he said, H430 Because the gods H4428 of the kings H758 of Syria H5826 helped H2076 them, therefore will I sacrifice H5826 to them, that they may help H3782 me. But they were the ruin H3478 of him, and of all Israel.

24 H271 And Ahaz H622 gathered together H3627 the vessels H1004 of the house H430 of God, H7112 and cut in pieces H3627 the vessels H1004 of the house H430 of God, H5462 and shut up H1817 the doors H1004 of the house H3068 of Jehovah; H6213 and he made H4196 him altars H6438 in every corner H3389 of Jerusalem.

25 H5892 And in every city H3063 of Judah H6213 he made H1116 high places H6999 to burn incense H312 unto other H430 gods, H3707 and provoked to anger H3068 Jehovah, H430 the God H1 of his fathers.

26 H3499 Now the rest H1697 of his acts, H1870 and all his ways, H7223 first H314 and last, H3789 behold, they are written H5612 in the book H4428 of the kings H3063 of Judah H3478 and Israel.

27 H271 And Ahaz H7901 slept H1 with his fathers, H6912 and they buried H5892 him in the city, H3389 even in Jerusalem; H935 for they brought H6913 him not into the sepulchres H4428 of the kings H3478 of Israel: H3169 and Hezekiah H1121 his son H4427 reigned in his stead.
