Jeremiah 20 Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.

1 H6583 Now Pashur H1121 the son H564 of Immer H3548 the priest, H1931 who H5057 was also chief H5057 governor H1004 in the house H3068 of the LORD, H8085 heard H3414 that Jeremiah H5012 prophesied H428 these H1697 things.

2 H6583 Then Pashur H5221 smote H3414 Jeremiah H5030 the prophet, H5414 and put H4115 him in the stocks H5945 that were in the high H8179 gate H1144 of Benjamin, H834 which H1004 was by the house H3068 of the LORD.

3 H1961 And it came H4283 to pass on the morrow, H6583 that Pashur H3318 brought H3318 forth H3414 Jeremiah H4115 out of the stocks. H559 Then said H3414 Jeremiah H3068 to him, The LORD H7121 has not called H8034 your name H6583 Pashur, H4036 but Magormissabib.

4 H3541 For thus H559 said H3068 the LORD, H2005 Behold, H5414 I will make H4032 you a terror H3605 to yourself, and to all H157 your friends: H5307 and they shall fall H2719 by the sword H341 of their enemies, H5869 and your eyes H7200 shall behold H5414 it: and I will give H3605 all H3063 Judah H3027 into the hand H4428 of the king H894 of Babylon, H1540 and he shall carry H1540 them captive H894 into Babylon, H5221 and shall slay H2719 them with the sword.

5 H5414 Moreover I will deliver H3605 all H2633 the strength H2063 of this H5892 city, H3605 and all H3018 the labors H3605 thereof, and all H3366 the precious H3605 things thereof, and all H214 the treasures H4428 of the kings H3063 of Judah H5414 will I give H3027 into the hand H341 of their enemies, H834 which H962 shall spoil H3947 them, and take H935 them, and carry H894 them to Babylon.

6 H6583 And you, Pashur, H3605 and all H3427 that dwell H1004 in your house H3212 shall go H7628 into captivity: H935 and you shall come H894 to Babylon, H8033 and there H4191 you shall die, H6912 and shall be buried H8033 there, H3605 you, and all H157 your friends, H834 to whom H1992 H5012 you have prophesied H8267 lies.

7 H3068 O LORD, H6601 you have deceived H6601 me, and I was deceived; H2388 you are stronger H3201 than I, and have prevailed: H7814 I am in derision H3605 daily, H3117 H3605 every H3932 one mocks me.

8 H1767 For since H1696 I spoke, H2199 I cried H7121 out, I cried H2555 violence H7701 and spoil; H3588 because H1697 the word H3068 of the LORD H1961 was made H2781 a reproach H7047 to me, and a derision, H3605 daily. H3117

9 H559 Then I said, H2142 I will not make mention H3808 of him, nor H1696 speak H5750 any more H8034 in his name. H3820 But his word was in my heart H1197 as a burning H784 fire H6113 shut H6106 up in my bones, H3811 and I was weary H3557 with forbearing, H3201 and I could not stay.

10 H8085 For I heard H1681 the defaming H7227 of many, H4032 fear H5437 on every H5439 side. H5046 Report, H5046 say they, and we will report H3605 it. All H7965 my familiars H8104 watched H6761 for my halting, H194 saying, Peradventure H6601 he will be enticed, H3201 and we shall prevail H3947 against him, and we shall take H5360 our revenge on him.

11 H3068 But the LORD H1368 is with me as a mighty H6184 terrible H5921 one: therefore H3651 H7291 my persecutors H3782 shall stumble, H3201 and they shall not prevail: H3966 they shall be greatly H954 ashamed; H7919 for they shall not prosper: H5769 their everlasting H3639 confusion H3808 shall never H7911 be forgotten.

12 H3068 But, O LORD H6635 of hosts, H974 that try H6662 the righteous, H7200 and see H3629 the reins H3820 and the heart, H7200 let me see H5360 your vengeance H1540 on them: for to you have I opened H7379 my cause.

13 H7891 Sing H3068 to the LORD, H1984 praise H3068 you the LORD: H5337 for he has delivered H5315 the soul H34 of the poor H3027 from the hand H7489 of evildoers.

14 H779 Cursed H3117 be the day H834 wherein H3205 I was born: H3117 let not the day H834 wherein H517 my mother H3205 bore H1288 me be blessed.

15 H779 Cursed H376 be the man H834 who H1319 brought H1319 tidings H1 to my father, H559 saying, H2145 A man H1121 child H3205 is born H8056 to you; making him very glad.

16 H376 And let that man H5892 be as the cities H834 which H3068 the LORD H2015 overthrew, H5162 and repented H8085 not: and let him hear H2201 the cry H1242 in the morning, H8643 and the shouting H6256 at noontide;

17 H834 Because H4191 he slew H7358 me not from the womb; H517 or that my mother H1961 might have been H6913 my grave, H7358 and her womb H5769 to be always H2030 great with me.

18 H4100 Why H3318 came H3318 I forth H7358 out of the womb H7200 to see H5999 labor H3015 and sorrow, H3117 that my days H3615 should be consumed H1322 with shame?
