  1 G2532 And G3588 the G246 Philistines G2983 took G3588 the G2787 ark G3588   G2316 of God, G2532 and G1533 carried G1473 it G1537 from out of G* Ebenezer G1519 unto G* Ashdod.

  2 G2532 And G2983 [³took G3588 ¹the G246 ²Philistines] G3588 the G2787 ark, G3588 of God G2316   G2532 and G1533 carried G1473 it G1519 into G3588 the G3624 house G* of Dagon, G2532 and G3936 stood G1473 it G3844 by G* Dagon.

  3 G2532 And G3719 [³rose early G3588 ¹the G* ²Ashdodites], G2532 and G1525 they entered G1519 into G3624 the house G* of Dagon G3588 the G1887 next day. G2532 And G1492 they saw, G2532 and G2400 behold, G* Dagon G4098 was fallen G1909 upon G4383 his face G1473   G1909 upon G3588 the G1093 ground G1799 before G3588 the G2787 ark G3588   G2316 of God. G2532 And G1453 they raised G3588   G* Dagon, G2532 and G2525 they placed G1473 him G1909 upon G3588   G5117 his place. G1473  

  4 G2532 And G1096 it came to pass G5613 as G3719 they rose early G3588 in the G1887 next day G4404 in the morning, G2532 and G2400 behold, G* Dagon G4098 was fallen G1909 upon G4383 his face G1473   G1799 before G3588 of the G2787 ark G2962 of the lord . G2532 And G3588 the G2776 head G* of Dagon, G2532 and G297 both G3588 the G2487 traces G5495 of his hands G1473   G851 were removed G1909 unto G3588 the G1715.1 front G3588 of the G4712.4 doorposts, G2532 and G297 both G3588 the G2590.1 wrists G3588   G5495 of his hands G1473   G4098 were fallen G1909 upon G3588 the G4290.1 threshold. G4133 Only G3588 the G4478.1 spine G* of Dagon G5275 was left behind.

  5 G1223 On account of G3778 this, G3756 [⁴do not G1910 ⁵mount G3588 ¹the G2409 ²priests G* ³of Dagon], G2532 nor do any G3956   G3588   G1531 enter G1519 into G3624 the house G* of Dagon G1909 by G3588 the G898 threshold G3624 of the house G* of Dagon G1722 in G* Ashdod G2193 until G3588   G2250 this day; G3778   G235 but G5233 by passing over, G5233 they pass over it.

  6 G2532 And G925 [⁴was oppressive G3588 ¹the G5495 ²hand G2962 ³ of the lord] G1909 against G* the Ashdodites, G2532 and G928 he tormented G3588 the G* Ashdodites, G2532 and G3960 he struck G1473 them G1519 in G3588   G1475.3 their buttock -- G1473   G3588 the one G* from Ashdod G2532 and G3588   G3725 their borders.   7 G2532 And G1492 [⁴beheld G3588 ¹the G435 ²men G* ³of Ashdod] G3754 that G3779 it was so, G2532 and G3004 they spoke saying G3754 that, G3756 [⁶shall not settle G2521   G3588 ¹the G2787 ²ark G3588 ³of the G2316 ⁴God G* ⁵of Israel] G3326 with G1473 us, G3754 for G4642 [² is hard G3588   G5495 ¹his hand] G1473   G1909 against G1473 us, G2532 and G1909 against G* Dagon G3588   G2316 our god. G1473  

  8 G2532 And G649 they send G2532 and G4863 gather G3588 the G4568.2 satraps G3588 of the G246 Philistines G4314 to G1438 themselves. G2532 And G3004 they say, G5100 What G4160 should we do G3588 with the G2787 ark G3588 of the G2316 God G* of Israel? G2532 And G3004 [³say G3588 ¹the G* ²Gathites], G3347.1 Let [⁴pass between the ranks G3588 ¹the G2787 ²ark G3588   G2316 ³of God] G4314 to G1473 us! G2532 And G3347.1 [⁶passed between the ranks G3588 ¹the G2787 ²ark G3588 ³of the G2316 ⁴God G* ⁵of Israel] G1519 unto G* Gath.

  9 G2532 And G1096 it came to pass G3326 after G3588   G3347.1 it being passed through the ranks, G1473   G2532 that G1096 [³came G5495 ¹ the hand G2962 ² of the lord] G1722 against G3588 the G4172 city -- G5017 [³disturbance G3173 ²great G4970 ¹an exceedingly]; G2532 and G3960 he struck G3588 the G435 men G3588 of the G4172 city G575 from G3397 small G2193 unto G3173 great G1519 in G3588   G1475.3 their buttocks. G1473  

  10 G2532 And G1821 they sent out G3588 the G2787 ark G3588   G2316 of God G1519 unto G* Ekron. G2532 And G1096 it came to pass G5613 as G1525 [³entered G2787 ¹ the ark G2316 ²of God] G1519 unto G* Ekron, G2532 that G310 [³yelled out G3588 ¹the G* Ekronites], G3004 saying, G5100 Why G654 do you return G3588 the G2787 ark G3588 of the G2316 God G* of Israel G4314 to G1473 us, G2289 is it to put us to death G1473   G2532 and G3588   G2992 our people? G1473  

  11 G2532 And G649 they sent, G2532 and G4863 they brought together G3956 all G3588 the G4568.2 satraps G3588 of the G246 Philistines. G2532 And G2036 they said, G1821 Send out G3588 the G2787 ark G3588 of the G2316 God G* of Israel, G2532 and G2523 let it sit G1519 in G3588   G5117 its place, G1473   G2532 so that G3766.2 in no way G2289 shall we be put to death -- G1473 us G2532 and G3588   G2992 our people. G1473  

  12 G3754 For G1096 there came to pass G4799 a confusion G2288 of death G1722 in G3650 the entire G3588   G4172 city, G926 [²severe G4970 ¹exceedingly], G5613 as G1525 [⁶entered G3588 ¹the G2787 ²ark G3588 ³of the G2316 ⁴God G* ⁵of Israel]. G2532 And G3588 the G2198 living G2532 and G3588 the G599 dying G4141 were struck G1519 in G3588 the G1475.3 buttocks. G2532 And G305 [⁵ascended G3588 ¹the G2906 ²cry G3588 ³of the G4172 ⁴city] G2193 unto G3588 the G3772 heaven.
