Notes:

(1) In the following phrases the numeral is used distributively:
(a) ana duo, "two apiece," John 2:6 (in some mss., Luke 9:3); in Luke 10:1, "two and two" ("by twos");
(b) kata duo, "by two," 1 Corinthians 14:27;
(c) duo duo, "by two and two," lit., "two (and) two," Mark 6:7 (not a Hebraism; the form of expression is used in the papyri);
(d) eis duo, "into two," in twain," Matthew 27:51; Mark 15:38 (See above).

(2) In Luke 17:34 duo stands for "two men;" in Luke 17:35 for "two women."
