²⁰ and if the Lord did not shorten the days, no flesh had been saved; but because of the chosen, whom He did choose to Himself, He did shorten the days.

¹³ And we—we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved by the Lord, that God did choose you from the beginning to salvation, in sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth,

²⁸ And we have known that to those loving God all things do work together for good, to those who are called according to purpose;
²⁹ because whom He did foreknow, He also did fore-appoint, conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be first-born among many brethren; ³⁰ and whom He did fore-appoint, these also He did call; and whom He did call, these also He declared righteous; and whom He declared righteous, these also He did glorify.

¹⁶ `Ye did not choose out me, but I chose out you, and did appoint you, that ye might go away, and might bear fruit, and your fruit might remain, that whatever ye may ask of the Father in my name, He may give you.

⁴ according as He did choose us in him before the foundation of the world, for our being holy and unblemished before Him, in love, ⁵ having foreordained us to the adoption of sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
