Psalms 91:1-16

1 He who is dwelling In the secret place of the Most High, In the shade of the Mighty lodgeth habitually, 2 He is saying of Jehovah, `My refuge, and my bulwark, my God, I trust in Him,' 3 For He delivereth thee from the snare of a fowler, From a calamitous pestilence. 4 With His pinion He covereth thee over, And under His wings thou dost trust, A shield and buckler is His truth. 5 Thou art not afraid of fear by night, Of arrow that flieth by day, 6 Of pestilence in thick darkness that walketh, Of destruction that destroyeth at noon, 7 There fall at thy side a thousand, And a myriad at thy right hand, Unto thee it cometh not nigh. 8 But with thine eyes thou lookest, And the reward of the wicked thou seest,
9 (For Thou, O Jehovah, art my refuge,) The Most High thou madest thy habitation. 10 Evil happeneth not unto thee, And a plague cometh not near thy tent, 11 For His messengers He chargeth for thee, To keep thee in all thy ways, 12 On the hands they bear thee up, Lest thou smite against a stone thy foot. 13 On lion and asp thou treadest, Thou trampest young lion and dragon. 14 Because in Me he hath delighted, I also deliver him—I set him on high, Because he hath known My name. 15 He doth call Me, and I answer him, I am with him in distress, I deliver him, and honour him. 16 With length of days I satisfy him, And I cause him to look on My salvation!

Ecclesiastes 1:1-18

1 Words of a preacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem: 2 Vanity of vanities, said the Preacher, Vanity of vanities: the whole is vanity. 3 What advantage is to man by all his labour that he laboureth at under the sun?
4 A generation is going, and a generation is coming, and the earth to the age is standing. 5 Also, the sun hath risen, and the sun hath gone in, and unto its place panting it is rising there. 6 Going unto the south, and turning round unto the north, turning round, turning round, the wind is going, and by its circuits the wind hath returned. 7 All the streams are going unto the sea, and the sea is not full; unto a place whither the streams are going, thither they are turning back to go. 8 All these things are wearying; a man is not able to speak, the eye is not satisfied by seeing, nor filled is the ear from hearing.
9 What is that which hath been? it is that which is, and what is that which hath been done? it is that which is done, and there is not an entirely new thing under the sun. 10 There is a thing of which one saith: `See this, it is new!' already it hath been in the ages that were before us! 11 There is not a remembrance of former generations; and also of the latter that are, there is no remembrance of them with those that are at the last.
12 I, a preacher, have been king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 And I have given my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom concerning all that hath been done under the heavens. It is a sad travail God hath given to the sons of man to be humbled by it. 14 I have seen all the works that have been done under the sun, and lo, the whole is vanity and vexation of spirit! 15 A crooked thing one is not able to make straight, and a lacking thing is not able to be numbered. 16 I—I spake with my heart, saying, `I, lo, I have magnified and added wisdom above every one who hath been before me at Jerusalem, and my heart hath seen abundantly wisdom and knowledge. 17 And I give my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I have known that even this is vexation of spirit; 18 for, in abundance of wisdom is abundance of sadness, and he who addeth knowledge addeth pain.'

Psalms 23:1-6

1 A Psalm of David. Jehovah is my shepherd, I do not lack, 2 In pastures of tender grass He causeth me to lie down, By quiet waters He doth lead me. 3 My soul He refresheth, He leadeth me in paths of righteousness, For His name's sake, 4 Also—when I walk in a valley of death-shade, I fear no evil, for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff—they comfort me. 5 Thou arrangest before me a table, Over-against my adversaries, Thou hast anointed with oil my head, My cup is full! 6 Only—goodness and kindness pursue me, All the days of my life, And my dwelling is in the house of Jehovah, For a length of days!

Ezekiel 4:4-8

4 `And thou, lie on thy left side, and thou hast placed the iniquity of the house of Israel on it; the number of the days that thou liest on it, thou bearest their iniquity. 5 And I—I have laid on thee the years of their iniquity, the number of days, three hundred and ninety days; and thou hast borne the iniquity of the house of Israel. 6 And thou hast completed these, and hast lain on thy right side, a second time, and hast borne the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days—a day for a year—a day for a year I have appointed to thee. 7 `And unto the siege of Jerusalem thou dost prepare thy face, and thine arm is uncovered, and thou hast prophesied concerning it. 8 And lo, I have put on thee thick bands, and thou dost not turn from side to side till thy completing the days of thy siege.

Exodus 20:5

5 Thou dost not bow thyself to them, nor serve them: for I, Jehovah thy God, am a zealous God, charging iniquity of fathers on sons, on the third generation, and on the fourth, of those hating Me,

Ezekiel 18:20

20 The soul that doth sin—it doth die. A son doth not bear of the iniquity of the father, And a father doth not bear of the iniquity of the son, The righteousness of the righteous is on him, And the wickedness of the wicked is on him.

Philippians 3:16

16 but to what we have come—by the same rule walk, the same thing think;

Galatians 5:16-17

16 And I say: In the Spirit walk ye, and the desire of the flesh ye may not complete; 17 for the flesh doth desire contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit contrary to the flesh, and these are opposed one to another, that the things that ye may will—these ye may not do;

Galatians 5:15

15 and if one another ye do bite and devour, see—that ye may not by one another be consumed.
