Bible verses about "respect" | Worsley

Luke 14:10

10 But when thou art invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, that, when he who invited thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then wilt thou have honor before them that sit at table with thee:

Romans 12:9-11

9 Let love be unfeigned. Abhor that which is evil, cleave to that which is good; 10 be tenderly affected with brotherly love to each other, in honor preferring one another: 11 not slothful in business: fervent in spirit: serving the Lord.

Acts 10:34-35

34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 but in every nation he that feareth Him, and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to Him.

Romans 2:7-16

7 to them, who by perseverance in well-doing seek for glory, and honor, and immortality, eternal life: 8 but to those who are contentious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath. 9 Tribulation and anguish shall be upon every soul of man that worketh evil, both of the Jew, and of the Gentile: 10 but glory, and honor, and peace to every one that worketh good, both to the Jew, and to the Greek: 11 for there is no respect of persons with God. 12 For as many as have sinned without the law shall also perish without the law; and as many as have sinned under the law shall be judged by the law; 13 (for not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified: 14 for when the Gentiles, who have not the law, do by nature the duties of the law, these though they have not the law, are a law to themselves, 15 and shew the work of the law written on their hearts, their conscience witnessing together with it, and their own thoughts either accusing, or excusing them,) 16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

Romans 13:1-7

1 Let every soul be subject to the powers that are over them: for there is no such power but from God: the powers that are over men, are appointed by God. 2 So that he who resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive condemnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wouldest thou then not be afraid of the civil power? do what is good, and thou shalt have praise from it: 4 for he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou dost evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is also the minister of God, as an avenger to execute his wrath upon the malefactor. 5 Wherefore it is necessary to submit, not only on account of punishment, but also of conscience. 6 For you pay them tribute also for this reason; because they are God's ministers, continually attending hereunto. 7 Render therefore to all what is their due: tribute to whom tribute is due, custom to whom custom, reverence to whom reverence, honor to whom honor.

2 Corinthians 10:12-16

12 For we presume not to number, or compare ourselves with some who recommend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are void of understanding. 13 But we will not glory of things beyond our bounds, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath given to us, a measure to come even unto you. 14 For we do not stretch ourselves beyond measure, as though we were not commissioned to come unto you; for we have reached even to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ. 15 Not boasting of things beyond our limits in other men's labors; but having hope that, when your faith is increased, we shall be abundantly enlarged by you according to our line, 16 to preach the gospel in places beyond you; and not to boast in another's province of things ready prepared for us.

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

12 And we entreat you, brethren, to respect those that labour among you, and preside over you in the Lord, and instruct you; 13 and to esteem them very highly in love, on account of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

Colossians 3:25

25 but he that doth unjustly, shall receive for what wrong he hath done; and there is no respect of persons with God:

Romans 13:2

2 So that he who resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive condemnation.

Titus 2:7

7 in all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works, with uncorruptness in teaching, gravity, sound doctrine that cannot be condemned;

1 Peter 2:17

17 Give due honor to all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Philippians 2:3

3 Do nothing through strife or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind each esteeming others better than themselves.

Romans 12:10

10 be tenderly affected with brotherly love to each other, in honor preferring one another:

Matthew 7:12

12 All things therefore whatsoever ye would have men do to you, do ye also in like manner unto them: for this is the doctrine of the law and the prophets.
