Colossians 3:17

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to our God and Father by Him.

1 John 4:1

1 Beloved, believe not every Spirit, but try the spirits, whether they be of God: for many false prophets are gone out into the world.

James 4:1-17

1 Whence come wars and fightings among you? Come they not hence? even of your carnal appetites making war in your bodies? 2 Ye desire, and ye have not: ye are envious, and jealous, and cannot obtain: ye fight and contend; but ye have not, because ye ask not. 3 Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask wickedly; that ye may spend it in your pleasures. 4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity to God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Do ye think the scripture speaks in vain? or does the Spirit that dwelleth in us, excite to envy? 6 No, He giveth more grace: wherefore it is said, God resisteth the proud, but sheweth favor to the humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God: resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you: cleanse your hands, O sinners, and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be grieved, and mourn, and weep: let your mirth be turned into mourning, and your joy to sadness. 10 Be humbled before the Lord, and He will exalt you. 11 Speak not against one another, my brethren; he that speaketh against his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh against the law, and judgeth the law; but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. 12 Now there is but one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou then that judgest another? 13 Come now, ye that say, To-day or to-morrow we will go to such a city, and spend a year there, and trade and get gain; 14 (though ye know not what will be on the morrow; for what is your life? a vapor, which appeareth for a little while, and then vanisheth away:) whereas ye ought to say, 15 If the Lord will, and we should live, and do this or that: 16 but ye glory in your presumption: all such glorying is wicked. 17 To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doth it not, to him it is sin.

1 John 3:12

12 and why did he slay him? because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

1 Corinthians 4:5

5 Wherefore judge nothing before the time; even until the Lord come, who will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every one have praise from God.

1 Timothy 1:5

5 so do, and acquaint them that the end of that charge is charity, out of a pure heart, and a good conscience, and faith unfeigned:

Matthew 6:1

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be observed by them: otherwise ye will have no reward from your Father, who is in heaven.

Philippians 2:3

3 Do nothing through strife or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind each esteeming others better than themselves. 4 but as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God, who trieth our hearts.

Galatians 1:10

10 For do I now persuade you to obey men or God? Or do I seek to please men? if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Matthew 6:1-18

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be observed by them: otherwise ye will have no reward from your Father, who is in heaven. 2 Therefore when thou dost an alms-deed, do not proclaim it abroad, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues, and in the streets, that they may be applauded by men. Verily I tell you, they have their reward. 3 But when thou givest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth: 4 that thine alms may be in secret, and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will himself reward thee openly. 5 And when thou prayest, be not like the hypocrites; for they love to pray in public assemblies, and in the corners of the streets, that they may be taken notice of by men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret, will reward thee openly. 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathens do, for they think they shall be heard for their speaking much: 8 be not ye therefore like them; for your Father knoweth what ye have need of before ye ask Him. 9 After this manner therefore pray ye, 10 "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done, as in heaven so also upon earth; 11 give us this day our daily bread; 12 and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; 13 and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen." 14 For if ye forgive men their faults, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 but if ye forgive not men their transgressions, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. 16 And when ye fast, be not, like the hypocrites, of a gloomy countenance; for they disfigure their faces, that they may be observed by men to fast: I tell you, they have indeed their reward. 17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head and wash thy face; 18 that thou mayst not appear unto men to fast, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee openly.
