³ I tell you, No: but, unless ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

²² Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray to God, if so be the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee:

²³ for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God;

⁹ and believe in thine heart, that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; for your adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

¹² Beloved, be not surprised at the fiery trial coming upon you, which is to try you, as if some strange thing befel you:

¹³ Is any among you afflicted? let him pray: is any chearful? let him sing psalms.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ strengthening me.

⁴ And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall be death no more, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

⁹ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness:

³ Remember those that are in bonds, as if bound with them: and those that suffer evil as being yourselves also in the body.

²² But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

³³ Be not deceived, bad conversations corrupt good morals. ³⁴ Behave soberly, as ye ought to do, and sin not: for some of you have not the knowledge of God; to your shame I speak it.

⁹ The Lord is not slow as to his promise (as some count it slowness) but is long-suffering towards us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

¹ Let every soul be subject to the powers that are over them: for there is no such power but from God: the powers that are over men, are appointed by God. ² So that he who resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive condemnation. ³ For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wouldest thou then not be afraid of the civil power? do what is good, and thou shalt have praise from it: ⁴ for he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou dost evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is also the minister of God, as an avenger to execute his wrath upon the malefactor. ⁵ Wherefore it is necessary to submit, not only on account of punishment, but also of conscience. ⁶ For you pay them tribute also for this reason; because they are God's ministers, continually attending hereunto. ⁷ Render therefore to all what is their due: tribute to whom tribute is due, custom to whom custom, reverence to whom reverence, honor to whom honor. ⁸ Owe no one any thing, but to love one another; for he that loveth others hath fulfilled the law: ⁹ for this command, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet, and every other social precept, is summed up in this, namely, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." ¹⁰ Love worketh no evil to our neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. ¹¹ And this let us observe, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed. ¹² The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. ¹³ Let us behave decently as being in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lasciviousness, not in strife and envying. ¹⁴ But put on the Lord Jesus, and make not provision for the flesh to gratify its irregular desires.

¹⁰ Fear none of the things which thou wilt suffer: behold the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall suffer affliction ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

¹² Happy is the man who sustaineth temptation; for being approved he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him.
