²² "The lamp of the body is the eye. If, therefore, your eye be sound, your whole body will be full of light;

⁹ And He said to them, "Well do ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may hold your tradition!

²¹ but prove all things, hold fast that which is good. ²² Abstain from every form of evil.

¹¹ and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them;

²⁷ A religion, pure and undefiled with our God and Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their tribulation, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

¹² Happy is a man who endures temptation; because, when he becomes approved, he will receive the crown of life, which He promised to those who love Him. ¹³ Let no one, when tempted, say, "I am tempted from God"; for God cannot be tempted with evils, and He Himself tempteth no one. ¹⁴ But each one is tempted, when by his own desire he is drawn away and enticed. ¹⁵ Then the desire, having conceived, brings forth sin; and sin, when completed, brings forth death.

²⁰ And He said, "That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man. ²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, ²² covetings, wickednesses, deceit, wantonness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: ²³ all these evil things proceed from within, and defile the man."

⁶ rejoices not at unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strifes, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties, ²¹ envyings, drunkenness, revelings, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, as I also said before, that those practicing such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.

²⁷ "Ye heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery;' ²⁸ but I say to you, that every one who looks upon a woman, to lust after her, already committed adultery with her in his heart. ²⁹ "And, if your right eye is causing you to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from you; for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not your whole body be cast into Hell. ³⁰ "And, if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from you; for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not your whole body go away into Hell.

¹¹ For the salvation-imparting grace of God appeared to all men, ¹² teaching us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and righteously, and godly in the present age;

⁵ Make dead, therefore, your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which, indeed, is idolatry;

¹² All things are lawful for me; but all are not profitable. All things are lawful for me; but I will not be brought under the control of any.

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are righteous, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
