²² Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

¹⁹ These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

¹⁴ As obedient children, not fashioning your selves according to the former lusts, in your ignorance:

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshy lusts, which war against the soul;

⁴ No man that warreth, entangleth himself with the affairs of life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

¹⁷ This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as the Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, ¹⁸ Having the understanding darkened, being alienated fro the life of God, through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: ¹⁹ Who despairing, have given themselves over to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness and greediness. ²⁰ But ye have not so learned Christ;

¹² But these, as natural brute beasts, made to catch people and to corrupt them, speak evil of the things that they understand not, and shall perish in their own corruption; ¹³ And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, [as] they that count it pleasure to riot in the daytime: sporting themselves with their own feasts of charity while they rejoice with you; ¹⁴ Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised in covetous practices: cursed children : ¹⁵ Who forsake the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam [the son] of Bosor,who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: Because ye were not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

¹² Teaching us, that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world;

¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of God is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world,

⁴ Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world, is the enemy of God.

² Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

² And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of the mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of God is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world, ¹⁷ And the world passeth away, and its lust: but he that doeth the will of God, abideth for ever.
