¹⁶ Thomas, therefore, who is called Didymus, said unto his fellow disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ who strengthneth me.

⁹ And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

²⁸ And fear not them who kill the body, but are nor able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. ²⁹ Do they not sell two sparrows for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. ³⁰ But the very hairs of your head are all numbred. ³¹ Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. ³² Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in the heavens. ³³ But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in the heavens.

³¹ What shall we then say to there things? if God [be] for us, who is against us? ³² He that did not so much as spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? ³³ Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? [It is] God that justifieth: ³⁴ Who [is] he that condemneth? [It is] Christ that died, yea rather that is risen again; who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? tribulation, or distress, persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

⁹ And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and the testimony which they held. ¹⁰ And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

¹² Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus, will suffer persecution.

¹⁴ If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and power, and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or [as] a thief, or [as] an evil doer, or as an overseer in other mens matters. ¹⁶ Yet if [it be] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name.
