⁶² But Jesus said unto him, No man looking back, and putting his hand to the plough, is fit for the kingdom of God.

²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome; the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. ²¹ For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after they have known [it], to return backward from the holy commandment delivered unto them. ²² It is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog [is] turned to his own vomit again; and, The sow that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

¹ Unto the angel of the church, who is at Ephesus, write, These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; ² I know thy works, and labour, and thy patience, that thou canst not bear them that are evil: and thou hast tried them who say they are themselves apostles, and are not; and hast found them liars: ³ And hast patience, and hast borne for my names fake, and haft not fainted. ⁴ Nevertheless, I have against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. ⁵ Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee, and will remove thy candlestick our of his place, except thou repent. ⁶ But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, [which] I also hate. ⁷ He that hath an ear, let him hear, what the Spirit saith unto the seven churches, To him that overcometh wilt I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. ⁸ And unto the angel who is at the church of Smyrna, write, These things saith the first begotten, arid the last, who was dead, and is alive; ⁹ I know thy tribulation, and poverty, but thou art rich, and the blasphemy of them who say they are Jews, and are not, but the synagogue of Satan. ¹⁰ Fear not those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and may have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. ¹¹ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches, He that overcometh, shall not be hurt of the second death. ¹² And to the angel of the church in Pergamus, write, These things saith he, who hath the sharp sword with two edge. ¹³ I know where thou dwellest, where satans seat [is]: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even, in those days [wherein] Antipas my faithful martyr was slain among you, where satan dwelleth. ¹⁴ But I have a few things against thee, because he hath there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac the king to cast a stumbling-block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication, ¹⁵ So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, in like manner. ¹⁶ Repent therefore; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. ¹⁷ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches, To him that overcometh will I give of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth, saving he that receiveth it. ¹⁸ And unto the angel who is at Thyatira, write. These things saith the Son of God, who hath eyes like unto a flame of fire, and feet like fine brass. ¹⁹ I know ty works, and charity, and faith, and service, and thy patience, and thy works; the last more than the first. ²⁰ Notwithstanding, I have against thee, because thou sufferest thy wise Jezabel, who calleth herself a prophetess, and she teacheth and seduceth my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. ²¹ And I gave her space to repent; and she would not repent of her fornication. ²² Behold, I will cast her into prison, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they will repent of their deeds. ²³ I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he who searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. ²⁴ Bat unto you I say, the rest in Thyatira, who have not this doctrine, who have not known the depths of satan, as they speak, I put upon you none other burden. ²⁵ But that which ye have; hold fast till I come. ²⁶ And he that overcometh, and observeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: ²⁷ And he shall rule them with a rod of iron: as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers, even as I received of my Father. ²⁸ And I will give him the morning star. ²⁹ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the spirit saith unto the churches.

If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. ⁴ But thou hast a few names in Sardis, which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. ⁵ He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. ⁶ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. ⁷ And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia, write, These things saith he that is true, he that is holy, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no one shutteth, and shutteth and no one openeth. ⁸ I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, which no one can shut: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. ⁹ Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will cause that they shall come, and shall worship before thy feet, and know that I have loved thee. ¹⁰ And thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. ¹¹ I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. ¹² Him that overcometh, will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and my new name. ¹³ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. ¹⁴ And onto the angel of the church which is at Laodicea, write, These things saith the Amen, the faithful andtrue witness, the beginning of the creation of God; ¹⁵ I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot. ¹⁶ So then because thou art luke-warm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth: ¹⁷ Because thou sayst, I am rich and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked. ¹⁸ I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayst be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayst be clothed, and the shame of thy nakedness may not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayst see. ¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; be zealous therefore, and repent. ²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. ²¹ To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. ²² He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

¹ After this I looked, and behold, a door opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard, as it were of a trumpet talking with me; saying, Come up hither, and I will shew thee the things which must be hereafter. ² Immediately I was in the spirit; and behold, a throne was set in heaven, and[one sat on] the throne. ³ And he that sat[was] to look upon like a jasper, and a sardine stone: and a rainbow was round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. ⁴ And round about the throne were twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and on their heads crowns of gold. ⁵ And out of the throne proceeded lightnings, and voices, and thundrings: And seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. ⁶ And before the throne as a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, four animals full of eyes before and behind. ⁷ And the first animal waslike a lion, and the second animal like a calf, and the third animal had a face as of a man, and the fourth animal [was] like a flying eagle. ⁸ And the four animals had each of them six wings about him, and they were full of eyes within; and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come. ⁹ And when those animals give glory and honour, and thanks to him that sits on the throne, who liveth fo ever and ever, ¹⁰ The twenty-four elders will fall down before him that sits on the throne, and will worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, ¹¹ Thou art worthy, O our Lord and God, to receive glory, and honour, and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they were.

⁸ For by his grace are we saved, through faith and that not of our selves; [it is] the gift of God: ⁹ Not of works, lest any man should boast;

⁵ Examine your selves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves: know ye not your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

⁴ For [it is] impossible for those who were once enlightned, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, ⁵ And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come; ⁶ And are fallen away, to renew them again unto repentance: seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God, and put [him] to an open shame.
