³⁰ They said therefore to him, What sign dost thou then, that we may see and believe thee? What dost thou work? ³¹ Our fathers ate manna in the desert, as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. ³² Then said Jesus to them, Verily, verily I say unto you, Moses gave you not the bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. ³³ For the bread of God is he that cometh down from heaven, and giveth life to the world. ³⁴ Then said they to him, Lord, ever give us this bread. And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life. ³⁵ He that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. ³⁶ But I told you, that tho' ye have seen me, ye believe not. ³⁷ All that the Father giveth me, will come to me, and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. ³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me. ³⁹ And this is the will of him that sent me, That of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. ⁴⁰ And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, should have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

³⁴ My meat is, to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

¹ In the beginning existed the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with God. ³ All things were made by him, and without him was not one single thing made that was made. ⁴ In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him, may not perish, but have everlasting life.
