²⁰ There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spends it up.

⁶ Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: ⁷ Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, ⁸ Provides her food in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.

²³ Be you diligent to know the state of your flocks, and look well to your herds. ²⁴ For riches are not for ever: and does the crown endure to every generation? ²⁵ The hay appears, and the tender grass shows itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered. ²⁶ The lambs are for your clothing, and the goats are the price of the field. ²⁷ And you shall have goats' milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, and for the maintenance for your maidens.

⁴ Labour not to be rich: cease from your own wisdom. ⁵ Will you set your eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

¹⁹ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust does corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: ²⁰ But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: ²¹ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

⁸ The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the LORD of hosts.

¹⁷ Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy; ¹⁸ That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; ¹⁹ Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

²³ Be you diligent to know the state of your flocks, and look well to your herds.

²² Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

³³ But seek all of you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

²⁸ For which of you, intending to build a tower, sits not down first, and counts the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? ²⁹ Lest lest by any means, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, ³⁰ Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

² Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

⁶ But this I say, He which sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which sows bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

⁹ Honour the LORD with your substance, and with the first-fruits of all of your increase:

⁷ The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
