Bible verses about "virginity" | Thomson

1 Corinthians 7:32-35

32 and I wish you to be free from anxious cares. He who is unmarried careth for the things of the Lord how he may please the Lord; 33 but he who is married careth for the things of the world, how he may please his wife. 34 There is the like difference between the wife and the virgin. The unmarried careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but she who is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. 35 Now this I say for your own benefit, not with a view to lay a snare for you; but for that which is becoming and best adapted to a steady, uninterrupted adherence to the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5

3 for this is the will of God even your sanctification, that you abstain from fornication; 4 that every one of you know how to use his own vessel in sanctification and honour; 5 not in lustful indulgence, like the nations which know not God;

Deuteronomy 22:13-21

13 If any man take a wife, and cohabit with her, and hate her, 14 and spread groundless reports concerning her, and give her an ill name, and say, I took this woman to wife, but when I came to her, I did not find her tokens of virginity; 15 thereupon the father and mother of the damsel taking the tokens of their child's virginity, shall carry them to the senate, to the gate. 16 And the father of the girl shall say to the senate, I gave this my daughter to that man for a wife; but he now hateth her, 17 and hath spread groundless reports concerning her, saying, I found not the tokens of virginity in thy daughter. Now these are the proofs of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the garment before the senate of the city. 18 Whereupon the senate of the city shall take the man, and chastise him, 19 and fine him a hundred shekels, and give them to the father of the young woman, because he brought an ill name on a virgin of Israel; and she shall be his wife. He shall not be at liberty to put her away all his days. 20 But if his accusation be founded in truth, and proofs of virginity cannot be found for the young woman, 21 they shall carry out the young woman to the doors of her father's house, and stone her with stones, till she die, because she hath committed folly in Israel, by making her father's house a place of prostitution. So thou shalt remove evil from among you.

Romans 12:1-2

1 therefore I exhort you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living, holy, acceptable sacrifice to God as your rational, religious service; 2 and be not conformed to this world; but transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may know experimentally what the will of God is, which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Revelation 14:4

4 These are they who were not defiled with women, for they are pure as virgins. These are they who follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men; first fruits for God and the Lamb.

Mark 10:6-8

6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them a male and a female. 7 For this cause a man is to leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife. 8 And they two shall be one flesh. So that they are no longer two, but one flesh.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

9 Do you not know that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the voluptuous, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor such as indulge inordinate desires, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Now such some of you were; but, you have washed yourselves; but you are hallowed, but you are acquitted by the name of the Lord Jesus and by the spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:18-20

18 Flee fornication. Every other sin, which a man committeth, is without the body; but he who committeth whoredom sinneth against his own body. 19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of a holy spirit in you, which you have from God? Indeed you are not your own; 20 for you have been bought with a price. Therefore glorify God with your body and with your spirit which are his.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8

3 for this is the will of God even your sanctification, that you abstain from fornication; 4 that every one of you know how to use his own vessel in sanctification and honour; 5 not in lustful indulgence, like the nations which know not God; 6 not overreaching and injuring his brother in this matter; for the Lord is the avenger of all such things, as we told you before and testified. 7 For God hath not called us for uncleanness, but to sanctification. 8 He therefore who rejecteth [these instructions] rejecteth not man, but God, even him who hath given us his holy spirit.

1 Corinthians 7:8-9

8 I say then to unmarried men and to widows, it is well for them if they continue as I do. 9 But if they have not the gift of continency, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn.

Hebrews 13:4

4 Let marriage be held in esteem by all, and its bed be undefiled: for whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
