⁴ If the spirit of a ruler rise up against thee, resign not thy place: for a reconciliation will mollify great offences.

¹³ But when he the spirit of truth, is come, he will lead you into all the truth; for he will not speak from himself, but will speak whatsoever he shall have heard, and will explain to you the train of events.

² Now that, which is principally required in a steward, is, that he be found faithful.

⁷ It beareth all things. It believeth all things. It hopeth all things. It endureth all things patiently.

⁶ And David said to his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the anointed of the Lord, to lift up my hand against him; for he is the Lord's anointed. ⁷ So David prevailed on his men by these words, and did not permit them to rise, and kill Saul. And when Saul arose and went on his way, ⁸ David went after him out of the cave. And David cried with a loud voice after Saul, and said, My lord, king! And when Saul looked about behind him, David bowed down, with his face to the ground, and made obeisance to him. ⁹ Then David said to Saul, Why dost thou hearken to the words of the people who say, Behold David seeketh thy life? ¹⁰ Behold this very day thine eyes have seen, how the Lord delivered thee to-day into my hands, in the cave, and I would not kill thee, but spared thee, and said, I will not lift up my hand against my lord, because he is the Lord's anointed.

³ Let not acts of kindness and faithfulness forsake thee: but bind them about thy neck

¹ Let every soul be subject to the ruling powers; for there is no power but from God. The powers in being are arranged by God;

¹ Put them in mind to be subject to governments and authorities; to pay prompt obedience; to be ready for every good work;

¹⁵ Wherefore if thy brother trespass against thee, go and expostulate with him when thou and he are alone. If he hearken to thee thou hast gained thy brother.

³³ Thereupon Peter addressing him, said, Though all should be stumbled at thee; as for me, I will never be stumbled.

²¹ The way of justice and mercy will lead to life and glory.

³⁵ Peter saith to him, Though I should die with thee, I will not deny thee. And so said all the disciples.

¹³ Watch; stand firm in the faith; acquit yourselves like men; be strong; ¹⁴ let all your affairs be transacted with love.

¹⁶ Whereupon Ruth said, Force me not to leave thee, nor to return from following thee; for whither soever thou goest, I will go; and wherever thou lodgest, I will lodge. Thy people shall be my people; and thy God, my God; ¹⁷ and wherever thou diest, I will die, and there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me and more also, if any thing but death shall part me and thee.

¹⁷ For every occasion have a friend; but in distress let brothers be assistant: for they are born for this purpose.
