¹ Then the Lord spoke to Moses saying, ² Behold I have called by name, Beseleel the son of Ourius, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judas, ³ and filled him with a divine spirit of wisdom and understanding and knowledge in every kind of workmanship, ⁴ to contrive and execute as a master carpenter; and to manufacture gold and silver and brass, and blue and purple and scarlet yarn; ⁵ and to cut stones; and in works of architecture made of wood to execute all kinds of workmanship. ⁶ Him I have given with Eliab the son of Achisamach of the tribe of Dan. And to every man of an understanding heart have given wisdom and they will make all that I have commanded thee; ⁷ the tabernacle of the testimony, and the ark of the covenant, and the propitiatory upon it, and the furniture of the tabernacle, ⁸ and the altars, and the table and all the utensils thereof, ⁹ and the pure candlestick and all its utensils, and the laver with its base, ¹⁰ and the sacerdotal robes of Aaron, and the robes of his sons to minister to me in the priest's office, ¹¹ and the anointing oil and the compound incense of the sanctuary. According to all that I have commanded thee they will do. ¹² Moreover the Lord spoke to Moses saying, ¹³ Charge the children of Israel saying, See that you keep my sabbaths. It is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifieth you; ¹⁴ therefore you shall keep the sabbath, because it is holy to the Lord for you. He who profaneth it shall surely be put to death. Whoever shall do any work on it, that person shall be rooted out from among his people. ¹⁵ Six days thou shalt perform works, but on the seventh day are the sabbaths, a rest holy to the Lord. Whoever shall do any work on the seventh day shall be put to death. ¹⁶ Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbaths and cause them to be kept throughout their generations. It is an everlasting covenant between me and the children of Israel. ¹⁷ It is for me a perpetual sign that in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth and rested on the seventh. ¹⁸ Here he paused, and gave Moses, when he had ceased speaking to him on mount Sina, two tables of the testimony; tables of stone written with the finger of God.

¹⁰ the tabernacle, and the coverings, and upper coverings and the hangings, and the bars and the pilasters,

¹⁸ Then one of his servants answered and said, Behold I have seen a son of Jessai the Bethlemite. He is skilled in music, and is a man of understanding and a warrior, graceful in speech, and of a comely appearance, and the Lord is with him.

⁷ Now therefore send me a man wise and skilled in working up gold and silver, and brass and iron, and purple and scarlet and blue, and who can engrave skilfully with the skilful men who are with me in Jerusalem, those materials which my father hath provided.

²² And Chononias, a chief of the Levites, was master of the odes, for he was skilled therein.

² in vain is your early rising. Ye who eat the bread of care, rise when you have rested; when he hath given his beloved sleep.

²⁹ A man clear in his perceptions and quick in the despatch of business should stand before kings and not wait on slothful men.

¹⁶ Thus let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father who is in heaven.

⁷ continue in the same family, eating and drinking such things as they have. For the labourer is worthy of his wages. Go not from one family to another.

¹⁸ But now God hath placed the members, every one of them, in the body, as it hath pleased him.

¹¹ and to make it your ambition to live quietly, and to mind your own business, and work with your own hands, as we charged you; ¹² that your walk may appear orderly to the world, and that you may be in want of nothing.

¹ Be not, my brethren, many teachers; as you know that we shall receive a severer sentence;

⁸ Remember the day of the sabbaths to hallow it. ⁹ Six days labour and do all thy works; ¹⁰ but on the seventh day are sabbaths to the Lord thy God; On it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy man servant, nor thy maid servant, nor thy ox, nor thy ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor the stranger who sojourneth with thee;

⁵ and he continued to seek the Lord all the days of Zacharias, who instructed him in the fear of the Lord. In his days indeed he sought the Lord, and the Lord prospered him.

⁷ The rich rule over the poor; though servants lend to their own masters.

²⁴ No man can serve two masters: for he will either hate one and love the other; or he will attend to one and neglect the other. You cannot serve God and a worldly temperent

¹ Masters, render to your servants what is just and equitable; knowing that you have a master in heaven.

⁵ [for if one doth not know how to preside over his own household, how can he take care of the congregation of God;]

¹⁸ for the scripture saith, "Thou shalt not muzzle an ox treading out corn," and, "The labourer is worthy of wages."

²² Servants, obey in all respects them who are your masters according to the flesh; not with eye-service as men pleasers, but with singleness of heart, fearing God;

¹⁸ You who are servants, be subject to your masters with reverence, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the morose.

¹¹ When I plan a purpose of peace and not evils against you, to grant you this,

¹⁴ For he is like a man who, intending to travel, called his servants and committed to them his effects, ¹⁵ and to one gave five talents and to another two, and to another one; to every one according to his respective ability, and straightway set out on his journey. ¹⁶ Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made five other talents; ¹⁷ and in like manner he who had received the two gained also other two; ¹⁸ but he who received the one went and digged a hole in the ground and hid his master's money: ¹⁹ and after a long time the master of these servants cometh and reckoneth with them: ²⁰ whereupon he who had received the five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Sir, thou deliveredst to me five talents, here are besides them five other talents, which I have gained: ²¹ and his master said to him; "Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful in a small trust, I will give thee a much greater; enter into the joy of thy master:" ²² then he who had received the two talents came and said, Sir, thou deliveredst to me two talents, here are, besides them, two other talents, which I have gained: ²³ his master said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful in a small trust, I will give thee a much greater, enter thou into the joy of thy master: ²⁴ then he, who had received the one talent, came and said, Sir, I knew that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou didst not scatter; so, ²⁵ being afraid, I went and hid thy talent in the earth. Here it is. Thou hast what is thine own. ²⁶ Thereupon his master said to him in reply, Malignant and slothful servant! Thou knowest that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter! ²⁷ Thou shouldst therefore have lodged my money with the bankers, that at my return I might have received mine own with interest. ²⁸ Take therefore the talent from him; and give it to him who hath the ten talents.

³³ But seek first the kingdom of God, and the righteousness required by him, and all those things will be superadded to you.

²³ and whatever you do, do it heartily as for the Lord, and not for men,
