Bible verses about "adornment" | Sawyer

1 Peter 3:1-6

1 (2:4) In like manner let the women be subject to their husbands, that even if some disobey the word, they may be gained through the conduct of their wives without the word, 2 seeing your pure mode of life in the fear [of God]. 3 Whose ornament let it not be the external [ornament] of braided hair and the putting on of chains of gold or of clothing, 4 but let the hidden man of the heart be adorned with the imperishable [ornaments] of a meek and quiet spirit, which are of great price before God. 5 For so formerly also the holy women who hoped in God adorned themselves, being subject to their husbands, 6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord, whose children you are, doing good and having no fear.

Matthew 6:25-33

25 On this account I tell you, be not anxious for your soul, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, what you shall put on, is not the soul more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of heaven; they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into store-houses; but your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they? 27 Which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his stature? 28 And why are you anxious concerning clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they perform no hard labor, neither do they spin; 29 but I tell you that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 And if God so clothes the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, men of little faith? 31 Be not anxious, therefore, saying, What shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or with what shall we be clothed? 32 For after all these things the gentiles seek; and your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first righteousness and his kingdom, and all these things shall be added to you.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Know you not that your bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit in you which you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.

1 Timothy 2:9-10

9 and in like manner also, that women in becoming apparel with modesty and sobriety adorn themselves, not with plaited hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly clothing, 10 but with good works, which become women professing godliness.

1 Peter 3:3-4

3 Whose ornament let it not be the external [ornament] of braided hair and the putting on of chains of gold or of clothing, 4 but let the hidden man of the heart be adorned with the imperishable [ornaments] of a meek and quiet spirit, which are of great price before God.
