Bible verses about "hypocrisy" | Riverside

Matthew 7:15

15 "Beware of false prophets, such as come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Luke 12:2

2 For nothing is covered up which will not be revealed, nor secret which will not be known.

1 John 2:9

9 He who says that he is in the light and hates his brother is in darkness still.

2 Timothy 3:5

5 They will have a form of religion, but will cast off its power. Avoid such people.

James 2:14-26

14 Of what use is it, my brethren, for any one to say that he has faith, if he has not works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and lacks food for the day 16 and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and fed," but you do not give them what the body needs, what is the good of it? 17 Just so faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. 18 But some one will say, "You have faith and I have works. Show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works." 19 You have faith that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons have that faith, and they shudder. 20 Are you willing to learn, O vacant-minded man, that faith without works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham, our father, pronounced righteous because of works when he laid Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was made perfect 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham had faith in God and it was credited to him for righteousness" and he was called "God's friend." 24 You see that a man is pronounced righteous because of works and not because of faith alone. 25 In the same way was not Rahab, the prostitute, pronounced righteous because of works when she had received the messengers and sent them out by a different road? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead.

1 John 2:4

4 He who says, "I know him," and does not keep his commands, is a liar and truth is not in him.

Titus 1:16

16 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they disown him. They are detestable, disobedient, and worthless for any good work.

Matthew 15:7-9

7 You hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you when he said, 8 'This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 9 In vain they worship me while they teach as precepts the commands of men.' "

Romans 2:3

3 Do you think, O man, you who judge those who practice such things while you do the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

Matthew 7:1-5

1 "DO not judge, so that you may not be judged. 2 For with whatever judgment you judge you will be judged, and with whatever measure you measure you will be measured. 3 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, while you do not perceive the beam in your own eye? 4 Or how will you say to your brother, 'Let me get out the speck from your eye,' when there is a beam in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first get the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to get the speck out of your brother's eye.

Matthew 7:5

5 You hypocrite, first get the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to get the speck out of your brother's eye.

Matthew 6:1

1 "BE careful not to do your religious actions before men in order to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.

James 1:26

26 If any one thinks himself religious while he does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his own heart, that man's religion is worthless.

1 John 4:20

20 If any one says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar. For he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.
