¹ If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become a noisy gong, or a clanging cymbal. ² And if I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so that I can remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. ³ And if I give all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. ⁴ Love is patient, and is kind; love does not envy; love does not boast, and is not arrogant; ⁵ It is not rude, does not insist on its own way, is not easily provoked, it keeps no account of wrongs suffered; ⁶ It does not rejoice in injustice, but rejoices in the truth; ⁷ Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ⁸ Love never fails: but where there are prophecies, they shall pass away; where there are tongues, they shall cease; where there is knowledge, it shall vanish away. ⁹ For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. ¹⁰ But when that which is perfect comes, then that which is partial shall pass away. ¹¹ When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. ¹² For now we see in a mirror dimly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. ¹³ And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ Gentleness, self-control: against such things there is no law. ²⁴ And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ²⁵ If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

¹⁵ But set apart Christ as Lord in your hearts: and always be ready to give an answer to every man who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you; but do it with gentleness and respect,

² Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers: for by so doing some have entertained angels without knowing it.

²² But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

⁶ Be anxious about nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. ⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are admirable; if there is any virtue, and if there is anything worthy of praise, think on these things. ⁹ Those things, which you have learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

⁷ For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of self-discipline.
