Bible verses about "pharisees" | RKJNT

Mark 10:2-12

2 And the Pharisees came to him, and tested him, asking, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? 3 And he answered and said to them, What did Moses command you? 4 And they said, Moses allowed a man to write a bill of divorce, and to put her away. 5 Jesus answered and said to them, Because of the hardness of your hearts he wrote you this commandment. 6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7 For this reason shall a man leave his father and mother, and be joined to his wife; 8 And the two shall be one flesh: so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore, what God has joined together, let man not separate. 10 And in the house his disciples asked him again about the matter. 11 And he said to them, Whoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, commits adultery against her. 12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she commits adultery.

Mark 10:2

2 And the Pharisees came to him, and tested him, asking, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife?

Romans 14:10-12

10 Why do you judge your brother? or why do you despise your brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God. 11 For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12 So then, every one of us shall give an account of himself to God.

Matthew 7:21-23

21 Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name cast out devils? and in your name done many miracles? 23 And then I will declare to them, I never knew you: depart from me, you who work iniquity.

Romans 14:1-23

1 Accept him who is weak in the faith, and do not dispute over his opinions. 2 For one believes that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat; and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats: for God has accepted him. 4 Who are you to judge another man's servant? to his own master he stands or falls. And he shall be upheld: for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5 One man esteems one day above another: another esteems every day alike. Let each man be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord; He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, abstains for the Lord, and gives God thanks. 7 For none of us lives for himself, and none of us dies for himself. 8 For if we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord: therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. 9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose to life, that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living. 13 Therefore, let us not judge one another any more: but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or an obstacle in a brother's way. 14 I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 But if your brother is hurt because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food him for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore, do not let your good be spoken of as evil: 17 For the kingdom of God is not food and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For he who serves Christ in this way is acceptable to God, and approved by men. 19 Therefore, let us follow after the things which make for peace, and things which edify one another. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for food. All things indeed are pure; but it is wrong for a man to cause another to fall by what he eats. 21 It is good not to eat meat, or to drink wine, or do anything that causes your brother to stumble. 22 Do you have a conviction? keep it for yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in that thing which he approves. 23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith: and whatever is not from faith is sin.

Matthew 21:31-32

31 Which of the two did the will of his father? They said to him, The first. Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, That the tax gatherers and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him: but the tax gatherers and the prostitutes believed him: and even when you had seen this, you did not afterward repent and believe him.

Luke 20:46-47

46 Beware of the scribes, who like to walk about in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces, and the best seats in the synagogues, and the places of honour at feasts; 47 They devour widows' houses, and for a show make long prayers: they shall receive the greater condemnation.

Luke 7:36-50

36 And one of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and reclined at table. 37 And, behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that Jesus was at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster vial of perfume, 38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the perfume. 39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is who touches him: for she is a sinner. 40 And Jesus answered him, Simon, I have something to say to you. And he said, Say it, Teacher. 41 There was a certain creditor who had two debtors: the one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 And when they were unable to repay, he freely forgave them both. Now, which of them will love him most? 43 Simon answered, I suppose the one whom he forgave the most. And he said to him, You have judged correctly. 44 And he turned to the woman, and said to Simon, Do you see this woman? I entered your house: you gave me no water for my feet, but she has washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with her hair. 45 You gave me no kiss: but since I came in this woman has not ceased to kiss my feet. 46 You did not anoint my head with oil: but this woman has anointed my feet with perfume. 47 Therefore I say to you, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but he who is forgiven little, loves little. 48 And he said to her, Your sins are forgiven. 49 And those who reclined at table with him began to say among themselves, Who is this who even forgives sins? 50 And he said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; go in peace.

Luke 18:10-14

10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax gatherer. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax gatherer. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the tax gatherer, standing far off, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but beat upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me, a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one who exalts himself shall be abased; and he who humbles himself shall be exalted.

Matthew 23:1-39

1 Then Jesus spoke to the multitude, and to his disciples, 2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: 3 Therefore, all they bid you to observe, that observe and do; but do not imitate their works: for they say, but do not do. 4 For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them upon men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 5 But all their works they do to be seen by men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called by men, Rabbi. 8 But do not be called Rabbi: for one is your Teacher; and all of you are brethren. 9 And call no man upon the earth your father: for one is your Father, who is in heaven. 10 Neither be called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. 11 But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled; and he who shall humble himself shall be exalted. 13 But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for you do not go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. 14 [Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: therefore you shall receive the greater condemnation.] 15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you cross sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves. 16 Woe to you, blind guides, who say, Whoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor! 17 You blind fools: which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold? 18 And, Whoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is upon it, he is obligated. 19 You blind fools: which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift? 20 Therefore, whoever shall swear by the altar, swears by it, and by all things on it. 21 And whoever shall swear by the temple, swears by it, and by him who dwells in it. 22 And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits on it. 23 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, justice, mercy, and faithfulness: these you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. 24 You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel. 25 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. 26 You blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. 27 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like whitewashed tombs, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but within are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. 28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but within you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. 29 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the sepulchres of the righteous, 30 And say, If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. 31 Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves, that you are the sons of those who killed the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of the sins of your fathers. 33 You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape being condemned to hell? 34 Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them you shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city: 35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berachiah, whom you killed between the temple and the altar. 36 Truly I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation. 37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets, and stone those who are sent to you, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not let me! 38 Behold, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I say to you, You shall not see me again, until you shall say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
