Matthew 9:15

15 And Jesus said to them, Can the wedding guests mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then they shall fast.

Luke 13:3

3 I tell you, No: but, unless you repent, you shall all likewise perish.

John 13:1-17

1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. 2 It was during supper, and the devil had already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray Jesus. 3 Knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God, and was returning to God; 4 Jesus rose from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. 5 After that he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded. 6 Then he came to Simon Peter: and Peter said to him, Lord, do you wash my feet? 7 Jesus answered and said to him, What I do you do not understand now; but you shall understand later. 8 Peter said to him, You shall never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I do not wash you, you have no part with me. 9 Simon Peter said to him, Lord, not only my feet, but also my hands and my head. 10 Jesus said to him, He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but he is clean all over: and you are clean, but not all of you. 11 For he knew who would betray him; therefore he said, Not all of you are clean. 12 So after he had washed their feet, and had put on his garments, and had taken his place again, he said to them, Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord: and you say well; for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, happy are you if you do them.

Acts 15:9

9 And he made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

1 Peter 1:3

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who by his abundant mercy has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Mark 1:15

15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent and believe the gospel.

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

1 Peter 5:6

6 Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Colossians 2:16-17

16 Therefore, let no man judge you in matters of food, or drink, or regarding a festival, or a new moon, or a sabbath day: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the reality belongs to Christ.

1 Timothy 4:1-5

1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Taught by hypocritical liars; who have their consciences seared as with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding marriage, and commanding abstinence from foods which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be refused, if it is received with thanksgiving: 5 For it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

Matthew 4:1-25

1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If you are the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. 5 Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And said to him, If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning you: and on their hands they shall bear you up, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said to him, Again it is written, You shall not tempt the Lord your God. 8 Again, the devil took him to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And said to him, All these things will I give you, if you will fall down and worship me. 10 Then Jesus said to him, Begone, Satan: for it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve. 11 Then the devil left him, and, behold, angels came and ministered to him. 12 Now when Jesus heard that John had been cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; 13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and lived in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali: 14 That what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, 15 The land of Zebulun, and the land of Naphtali, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 16 The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light; and to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, a light has sprung up. 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. 18 And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishermen. 19 And he said to them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they immediately left their nets, and followed him. 21 And going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him. 23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of infirmity among the people. 24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought to him all sick people who were taken with various diseases and torments, those who were possessed by devils, and those who were epileptic, and paralytics; and he healed them. 25 And great multitudes of people followed him from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond the Jordan.

Matthew 6:1-34

1 Take heed that you do not practice your righteousness before men, to be seen by them: otherwise you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. 2 Therefore, when you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have praise from men. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward. 3 But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing: 4 That your alms may be in secret: and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you. 5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and at the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward. 6 But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you. 7 But when you pray, do not use meaningless repetition, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their many words. 8 Therefore, do not be like them: for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask him. 9 Therefore, pray in this manner: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. 16 Moreover, when you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward. 17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; 18 That you may not be seen fasting by men, but by your Father who is in secret: and your Father, who sees in secret, shall reward you. 19 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of the body is the eye: therefore, if your eye is sound, your whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body shall be full of darkness. Therefore, if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. 25 Therefore I say to you, Do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Behold the birds of the air: they do not sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 Which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to the span of his life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they do not toil, nor do they spin: 29 And yet I say to you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Therefore, if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith? 31 Therefore, do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, With what shall we be clothed? 32 After all these things the Gentiles seek: but your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. 33 But seek first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow shall be anxious for itself. Sufficient for each day are the troubles of its own.

Matthew 6:16-18

16 Moreover, when you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward. 17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; 18 That you may not be seen fasting by men, but by your Father who is in secret: and your Father, who sees in secret, shall reward you.
