¹⁶ And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love; and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

¹¹ Not that I speak from want: for I have learned, in whatever state I am, to be content. ¹² I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound: in all circumstances I have learned how to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. ¹³ I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

¹⁴ And the soldiers likewise questioned him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said to them, Do not extort money from anyone or accuse anyone falsely; and be content with your wages.

¹¹ You will be enriched in everything, so you can be generous, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that through his poverty you might become rich.

²⁴ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

¹³ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose.

¹⁰ Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

¹³ I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

⁷ Likewise, you husbands, live with your wives considerately, giving honour to the woman as the weaker vessel, since you are heirs together of the grace of life. Do this that your prayers may not be hindered. ⁸ Finally, be of one mind, have sympathy for one another, love as brethren, be compassionate, be humble. ⁹ Do not return evil for evil, or insult for insult: but instead with blessing; knowing that you were called to this, that you should inherit a blessing. ¹⁰ For, He who would love life, and see good days, let him restrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking guile: ¹¹ Let him turn from evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it. ¹² For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.

³³ But seek first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

⁷ Casting all your anxiety upon him; for he cares for you.

¹⁵ And he said to them, Take heed, and beware of every form of greed: for a man's life does not consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into this world, and we can carry nothing out. ⁸ But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these. ⁹ But those who want to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge men into ruin and destruction. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all sorts of evil: and some, by craving it, have wandered from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

¹⁸ In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.

⁵ Let your lives be free from the love of money; and be content with such things as you have: for he has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you.
