¹⁰ And he called the multitude, and said to them, Hear, and understand: ¹¹ Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.

¹⁴ Bless those who persecute you: bless, and do not curse.

⁶ Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man.

⁸ But now put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy speech from your mouth.

²⁶ If any man among you thinks he is religious, but does not bridle his tongue, he deceives his own heart and his religion is in vain.

⁸ But the tongue no man can tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. ⁹ With it we bless our Lord and Father; and with it we curse men, who are made in the likeness of God. ¹⁰ Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

⁴ Nor let there be filthiness, or foolish talk, or coarse jesting, which are not proper: but rather giving of thanks.

²⁹ Let no corrupt words proceed out of your mouth, but only that which is good for edifying, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
