Bible verses about "adornment" | RKJNT

1 Peter 3:1-6

1 Likewise, you wives, be in subjection to your husbands; so that, if any do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the behaviour of the wives; 2 When they behold your chaste and reverent behaviour. 3 Let your beauty not be in outward adornment; the plaiting of hair, the wearing of gold, or the putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be of the inner person of your heart, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. 5 For in this manner the holy women in days of old, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, and were submissive to their husbands. 6 Thus Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: and you are her daughters, if you do right, and do not give way to fear.

Matthew 6:25-33

25 Therefore I say to you, Do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Behold the birds of the air: they do not sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 Which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to the span of his life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they do not toil, nor do they spin: 29 And yet I say to you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Therefore, if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith? 31 Therefore, do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, With what shall we be clothed? 32 After all these things the Gentiles seek: but your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. 33 But seek first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

1 Timothy 2:9-10

9 In like manner also, let women adorn themselves in proper apparel, modestly and soberly; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly attire; 10 But with good works, as becomes women professing godliness.

1 Peter 3:3-4

3 Let your beauty not be in outward adornment; the plaiting of hair, the wearing of gold, or the putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be of the inner person of your heart, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.
