¹⁶ In like manner let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

⁷ And abide in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give; for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house.

¹⁸ But as it is, God set the members every one of them in the body, as it pleased him.

¹¹ and to study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; ¹² that ye may walk becomingly toward those without, and may have need of nothing.

¹ My brethren, be not many teachers, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

²⁴ No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate one, and love the other; or else he will cleave to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

¹ Masters, deal out to your bondservants justice and equity, knowing that ye also have a master in heaven.

⁵ for if a man knoweth not how to preside over his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God

¹⁸ For the Scripture saith, "Thou shalt not muzzle the ox while he is treading out the grain"; and, "The laborer is worthy of his wages."

²² Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as menpleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing the Lord.

¹⁸ Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and considerate, but also to the perverse.

¹⁴ For it will be as when a man going abroad called his own servants, and intrusted to them his property; ¹⁵ and to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his ability, and went abroad. ¹⁶ He that had received the five talents went immediately and traded with the same, and gained five talents more. ¹⁷ In like manner, he that had received the two gained two more. ¹⁸ But he that had received the one went and dug in the earth, and hid his lords money. ¹⁹ And after a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. ²⁰ And he that had received the five talents came and brought five talents more, saying, Lord, thou intrustedst to me five talents; see, I have gained five talents more. ²¹ His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant! thou hast been faithful over a little, I will place thee in charge of much; enter into the joy of thy lord. ²² He also that had received the two talents came and said, Lord, thou intrustedst to me two talents; see, I have gained two talents more. ²³ His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant! thou hast been faithful over a little, I will place thee in charge of much; enter into the joy of thy lord. ²⁴ Then he also that had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee to be a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering where thou didst not scatter seed; ²⁵ and I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth. See! thou hast thine own. ²⁶ But his lord answered and said to him, Wicked and slothful servant! Didst thou know that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I did not scatter seed? ²⁷ Thou oughtest then to have put my money with the moneydealers, and on my coming I should have received mine own with interest. ²⁸ Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who hath the ten talents.

³³ But seek first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will also be given you.

²³ Whatever ye do, do it from the heart, as to the Lord, and not to men,
