John 6:50-71

50 »This is the bread that comes down out of heaven that a man may eat of it and not die. 51 »I am the living bread that came down out of heaven. If any man eats of this bread he will live forever. Yes and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.« 52 The Jews argued with one another saying: »How can this man give us his flesh to eat?« 53 Jesus responded to them: »Truly I tell you if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood you will not have life in yourselves. 54 »He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life! I will raise him up at the last day. 55 »For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 »He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides with me, and I with him. 57 »The living Father sent me and I live because of the Father. He who takes me for his food will live because of me. 58 »This is the bread that came down out of heaven. It is not like the bread (manna) the fathers ate and then died. He who eats this bread will live forever.« 59 He said these things in the synagogue when he taught in Capernaum. 60 When they heard this many of his disciples said: »This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?« 61 He knew his disciples complained about this. Jesus said: »Does this cause you to stumble? 62 »What if you see the Son of man ascending where he was before? 63 »It is the spirit that gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I spoke to you are spirit and life. 64 »There are some of you who do not believe.« Jesus knew from the beginning whom they were who did not believe and who would betray him. 65 He stated: »For this reason listen to what I say. No man can come to me, except it be given to him from the Father.« 66 After this many of his disciples returned to their old ways. They did not walk with him anymore. 67 Jesus asked the twelve: »Will you also go away?« 68 Simon Peter answered him: »Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of everlasting life! 69 »We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.« 70 Jesus replied: »Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil (false accuser) (slanderer) (demon)«. 71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot one of the twelve, for he would betray him.

Romans 8:1-18

1 Those who live through (in union with) (because of) Jesus Christ have no condemnation. [They do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.] 2 The law of the Spirit gives us life through (with) (because of) Christ Jesus. It has set me free from the law of sin and death. 3 God did what the Law could not do, because human nature was weak. He sent his own son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering and do away with sin. So he condemned sin in sinful human nature. 4 God did this so that the righteous requirements of the Law might be fully satisfied in us who live according to the Spirit, and not according to human nature. 5 They who live according to flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh. They who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 The mind of sinful flesh (fleshly thought) means death; but the mind influenced by the Spirit gives life and peace. 7 This is because the mind of the flesh is hostile toward God. It is not subject to the law of God for it cannot be. 8 Those influenced by the sinful flesh cannot please God. 9 But you are not in flesh but in Spirit, if indeed God’s Spirit dwells in you. If any one does not have the Spirit of Christ he does not belong to him. 10 If Christ is with you, the body is dead on account of sin, but the Spirit is life on account of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from among the dead dwells with you, he who raised Christ from among the dead shall also make your mortal bodies alive. This is on account of his Spirit that dwells with you. 12 So then, brothers we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to flesh (human nature), 13 for if you live according to flesh, you are about to die. If by the Spirit, you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 All who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of bondage again causing fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Father, Father! (Chaldee: Abba, meaning father). 16 The Spirit itself (Greek:autos ho pneuma) (itself the Spirit) bears witness with our spirit (mind and heart), that we are children of God. 17 If children, then heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ. If indeed we suffer with him we may also be glorified with him. 18 I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Romans 2:6-8

6 He will render to each according to his works. 7 [He offers] everlasting life for those who search for incorruptible glory and honor by enduring in good works. 8 Those who are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, will receive wrath and indignation.

2 Corinthians 3:6

6 He also made us sufficient as ministers of a new covenant. This is a covenant not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

James 2:10

10 Whoever obeys the whole law and yet stumbles in one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

Titus 3:5

5 not by works done in righteousness, which we did, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration (restoration) (spiritual rebirth) and renewing (renovation) of the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 By grace (Greek: charis, divine favor, loving-kindness) you have been saved through faith. It is not from you. It is the gift from God! 9 It is not the result of works. So no man should boast.

Matthew 6:1-34

1 »Be careful! Do not display your righteousness (good works) before men to be noticed by them. If you do, you will have no reward with your heavenly Father. 2 »Do not loudly announce it when you give to the poor. The hypocrites do this in the houses of worship and on the streets. They do this to be praised by men. Believe me, they have already been paid in full. 3 »When you give gifts, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. 4 »Your giving will be in secret and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. 5 »Do not pray like the hypocrites! They want everyone to see them in the houses of worship and on the street corners. I assure you they have been paid in full. 6 »Go to your room and close the door. Privately pray to your Father. When your Father sees you he will reward you. 7 »Large quantities of meaningless words and repetition are not acceptable in prayer. The pagans think their gods will hear long and repetitious prayers. 8 »Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 »‘Our Father in heaven, holy is your name. (Exodus 6:3) (Psalm 83:18) (Isaiah 42:8; 54:5; 63:16; 64:8) 10 »‘Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:33) (Daniel 2:44) (Revelation 11:15) (Psalm 37:10,29) (Acts 24:15) 11 »‘Give us this day our daily bread. (Matthew 6:34) (1 Timothy 6:8) (Proverbs 30:8) (Psalm 37:25) 12 »‘Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. (Matthew 18:21) (Mark 11:25) (Luke 11:4) 13 »‘And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil (the wicked one).’ (Psalm 82:4) (Psalm 97:10) (Matthew 13:19) (John 17:15) (1 John 5:19) 14 »If you forgive others their sins, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 »If you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. 16 »When you abstain from food, do not be like the hypocrites, with sad faces to be seen by men. They have received their reward. 17 »Anoint your head and wash your face. 18 »That way, men may not see that you are fasting. Your Father knows in secret and will reward you. 19 »Do not accumulate large amounts of wealth on earth. This is where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal. 20 »Accumulate wealth in heaven where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Your heart will be where you keep your wealth. 22 »The eyes are like a lamp for the body. If your eye is clear (simple) (focused) (single minded), your whole body will be full of [spiritual] light. 23 »But if your eye is wicked, your body will be in darkness. If that light in you is really darkness, how great a darkness it must be. 24 »You cannot serve two masters. You will hate one and love the other. You will be loyal to one master and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money (wealth) (material possessions). 25 »I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink. And do not worry about your body, what you will wear. Is life worth more than food? And is the body worth more than clothes? 26 »Look at the birds of the sky, they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you worth more than they? 27 »Can you live longer by worrying about it? 28 »Why are you worried about clothing? Look at how the lilies of the field grow. They do not toil. They do not spin. 29 »I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was dressed like these. 30 »If God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, won’t he care for you even more? You of little faith! 31 »Do not worry! Do not say: ‘What shall we eat?’ or, ‘What shall we drink?’ or, ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 »All people go in search of these things. Your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 »Seek (desire) (require) (serve) first the kingdom of God and his righteousness [continuously] and all these things will be added to you. 34 »Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have its own worries. Sufficient for each day is its own badness.

James 1:26

26 If any man thinks he is religious, while he does not control his tongue but deceives his heart, this man's religion is vain (worthless) (useless). 27 Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for the fatherless persons and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself without spot from the world.

Mark 16:15-16

15 He said to them, »Go into the entire world, and preach the good news to the whole creation. 16 »He who believes and is baptized will be saved. He who does not believe will be condemned.
