¹³ As much as you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy. ¹⁴ If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. ¹⁵ Let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or as a meddler in other people’s business.

³ It is an honor for a man to cease from discord. Only fools start quarrels.

²⁰ Without wood the fire goes out. Without a talebearer strife ceases.

¹ »Stop judging, so that you will not be judged. ² »As you judge, so you will be judged. As you measure, it will be measured to you. ³ »Why do you see the speck in your brother’s eye? Do you not consider the beam in your own eye? ⁴ »Will you tell your brother, ‘I will remove the speck from your eye’ when there is a beam in your own eye? ⁵ »You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye. Then you can see to remove the speck out of your brother’s eye.

¹¹ Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and mind your own business, and work with your hands, as we command you.

¹⁷ He who meddles in someone else’s quarrel is like one who takes a dog by the ears.
