John 6:50-71

50 »This is the bread that comes down out of heaven that a man may eat of it and not die. 51 »I am the living bread that came down out of heaven. If any man eats of this bread he will live forever. Yes and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.« 52 The Jews argued with one another saying: »How can this man give us his flesh to eat?« 53 Jesus responded to them: »Truly I tell you if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood you will not have life in yourselves. 54 »He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life! I will raise him up at the last day. 55 »For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 »He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides with me, and I with him. 57 »The living Father sent me and I live because of the Father. He who takes me for his food will live because of me. 58 »This is the bread that came down out of heaven. It is not like the bread (manna) the fathers ate and then died. He who eats this bread will live forever.« 59 He said these things in the synagogue when he taught in Capernaum. 60 When they heard this many of his disciples said: »This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?« 61 He knew his disciples complained about this. Jesus said: »Does this cause you to stumble? 62 »What if you see the Son of man ascending where he was before? 63 »It is the spirit that gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I spoke to you are spirit and life. 64 »There are some of you who do not believe.« Jesus knew from the beginning whom they were who did not believe and who would betray him. 65 He stated: »For this reason listen to what I say. No man can come to me, except it be given to him from the Father.« 66 After this many of his disciples returned to their old ways. They did not walk with him anymore. 67 Jesus asked the twelve: »Will you also go away?« 68 Simon Peter answered him: »Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of everlasting life! 69 »We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.« 70 Jesus replied: »Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil (false accuser) (slanderer) (demon)«. 71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot one of the twelve, for he would betray him.

John 20:19-23

19 It was evening of the first day of the week. The disciples shut the doors where they stayed for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them: »May you have Peace.« 20 When he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were glad, when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus therefore said to them again: »May you have peace. As the Father sent me, even so I send you.« 22 After he said this he breathed on them and said: »Receive Holy Spirit. 23 »Forgive sins and they are forgiven. Do not forgive sins and they are not forgiven.«

1 Corinthians 3:15-17

15 If a man's work will be burned, he will suffer loss: but he will be saved by fire. 16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 God will destroy any man who defiles the temple of God! For the temple of God is holy. You are that temple!

1 Corinthians 7:32-34

32 I want you to be free from anxiety. He who is unmarried cares for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord. 33 But he who is married cares for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. 34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. She who is married cares for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

James 2:14-26

14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith but he does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is without clothes and in lack of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them: »Go in peace, be warmed and filled;« and yet you do not give them food and clothing, what good is it? 17 Even so, faith without works is dead. It is alone and by itself! 18 A man will say: »You have faith and I have works. Show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.« 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well: the demons also believe, and shudder. 20 Are you willing to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is useless (barren) (lifeless)? 21 Was Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that faith acted with his works, and works made faith perfect (complete). 23 The scripture was fulfilled which says: »Abraham believed Jehovah and it was reckoned (imputed) (considered) (credited) to him for righteousness.« He was called »Jehovah’s friend« (Genesis 15:6) ( Isaiah 41:8). 24 You see that a man is justified (declared and pronounced righteous) by works, and not by faith alone. 25 Rahab the harlot was justified by her works. When she received the messengers she sent them out another way. 26 Just as the body without the spirit is dead; even so faith without works is dead.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15

11 No other foundation can be laid than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man builds upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, and stubble; 13 every man's work will be made known, for the day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will prove what sort every man's work is. 14 If a man's work that he built upon lasts, he will receive a reward. 15 If a man's work will be burned, he will suffer loss: but he will be saved by fire.

1 Corinthians 7:10-11

10 To the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord commands do not let the wife depart from her husband. 11 If she leaves, let her remain unmarried or become reconciled to her husband. A husband should not divorce his wife.
